How to "smoothen out" laggy video recorded in the XBox feature of Windows 10?
Hi, it's my first time in the forums, so I didn't know where to post, so I'm posting here. I have few videos of screen recordings related to my work and also some screen recordings from games that I want to "smoothen out" because whenever I record, it seems like my computer can't handle it and the video is always laggy if I check it in the movies and tv folder. As I said, I record it using the Windows 10 Xbox thingy. Also, I do know that it might not be a specific question related to the computer itself or windows 10, but is there any way (including outside programs) that I can use to smoothen out the videos? Thanks.

Is it happening with Xbox app only? You may try other similar tool to test.
Please update your graphic card driver from the website of the graphic card manufacturer or via windows update and recheck the problem.

I managed to find the solution
Previous employee had already tried to setup a hybrid environment (probably with no success)
I did run the following commands:
Remove-HybridConfiguration
Get-OrganizationRelationship | Remove-OrganizationRelationship
Also deleted with ADSIedit
- Start ADSIEdit, connect to Configuration Partition, expand CN=Configuration,DC=your,DC=domain, expand CN=Services, expand CN=Microsoft Exchange, expand CN=yourexchangeorg, double-click CN=Federation Trusts
- In right-hand pane select CN=Microsoft Federation Gateway, right-click on it and select Delete
Now, the hybrid configuration is running smoothly!

Hello everyone,
I am trying to have the PowerPoint recent list clear of all recent presentations that were not saved to the local (actually roaming) profile. If the presentation was saved to a USB (F, G) I would like to be able to remove it from the recent list in Power Point. I found the registry keys that would need to be deleted to accomplish this but scripting it is a challenge. We are running Windows 8.1.
The registry location: HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\PowerPoint\User MRU\AD_*\
Under here is File MRU and Place MRU
Within each of those is Item # with the location
What I see:
Item 1 *\\domain\user - I want to keep this one
Item 2 *F:\test.pptx -I would want this one deleted
Item 3: *G:\test1.pptx -This one deleted as well
Item 1 is not always \\domain\user -I have seen it as a different item #
That way my users are not clicking on recent presentations that are not in that location anymore.
Any help will be greatly appreciated, Thank you

The program will leave the file listed on the recent list even if you click on it and it's not there. It will show an error saying something along the lines of the file cannot be found. This should solve having files saved in other locations removed from the recent list. All this does is remove the file from the recent list, the file still exists on a USB stick somewhere. Unfortunately, that will be a limitation of this, that it will delete it from the list no matter what.
------------------------------------
Reply:
This is not something that should be done without the users permission. A user can remove anything from the list. A user can remember older files and where they came from by looking at the list. You should not be trying to micromanage users.
Every program has a recent list. All are managed differently. This is designed to be managed only by the user with the GUI.

The user needs basic Windows training. Modern Windows Office programs lists are managed by the program. They are categorized as local, network and other categories depending on system configuration.
If the user right click on any entry they can delete or change it.
THe user needs to be trained in Windows and Office products. JUst show them how to manage the lists. They will thank you.

Upgrade to Build 1607 - Can keep Nothing?
Compaq Win10 1511 Pro x64 4GB
I upgrade this Compaq system via the Win10 upgrade ISO's to build 1511 and authenticated as legal.
This is the last system I am migrating to Build 1607 from a USB drive
Setup launches and goes through the startup phases and gets to Choose What to Keep.
My only option is NOTHING
Explanation is as follows: You Can't keep Windows settings because your current version of windows might be installed in an unsupported directory.
How do I fix this since this is an active system with data and installed programs on the domain.

Original upgrade from Win7 to Build 1511 was from a DVD. It does not like the upgrade to 1607 on a USB drive. I loaded the DVD of the Build 1607 and it is working.

Exchange Mailbox - Powershell
Hi There
I wonder if anybody could be kind to help. I'm trying to create a simple Powershell script which will create a new AD user account & mailbox from a csv file but when I run the script inserts by default the User Principal Name in the email name field in Active Directory instead of the email format first name.surname, is there a way to change this on the script
Thanks

Apologies for that
I'm totally useless as powershell, so beneath is a sample script when I run it, it will always insert the UPN in the email address field in active directory by default and not first.surname format. if I add the first.surname in the alias field on my csv file it reports field is null or void
when I'm trying to do is create a script that will create a new user account & mailbox on one script
Import-Csv C:\Exchange.csv | ForEach-Object {
New-Mailbox -Name $_.name `
-FirstName $_.FirstName `
-LastName $_.LastName `
-SamAccountName $_.SamAccountName `

I've doubled checked, all columns are filled. The script runs fine without the alias column but when the alias column is inserted, looking on the properties of active directory properties it will insert user principal name format for the email address instead of first.surname, I've tried adding an email column, identity column and the script will always say report missing UPN

Run this to actually test you CSV:
Import-Csv C:\Exchange.csv | ForEach-Object { $prop = @{ Name=$_.name FirstName = $_.FirstName LastName = $_.LastName SamAccountName = $_.SamAccountName UserPrincipalName = $_.UserPrincipalName Alias = $_.Alias } [pscustomobject]$prop } Any missing or bad fields will show as damaged objects.
Another good way to test is to open the file in Excel.
No field in the CSV can have a comma unless the field is enclosed in quotation marks:

You miss the point. Look at the results. Do all properties appear to be correct for all objects generated?
It is a diagnostic that validates your CSV.
You should also avoid line extensions. Use a splat or leave everything on one line. backticks can cause issue.
You cannot just arbitrarily add or change code. You need to take time out to learn PowerShell. It will save yuo a lot of wasted time. YOu are doing this with no idea of why. Not a very good technical approach.

An Alias cannot have spaces. You need to post the exact text of the CSV and not what outputs on the screen after it is loaded.
Normally the alias is the SamAccountName and is not set when a user mailbox is created.
Also New-AdUser does not have an Alias property unless you company has created one. Event then it cannot be set as a Parameter of New-AdUser.
So lots of things to consider.
This will work assuming you CSV is good.

Undeliverable message not received when sending an email from a Distribution Group Universal
Dear All hello,
I have noticed a very critical issue when sending emails from a distribution group -universal on our Exchange 2013.
I gave permissions to some users to send emails from a distribution group, everything work well but we have noticed that some emails aren't received by our clients.
After investigation, I've noticed IMCEAINVALID-m+2Recipient+40RecipientDomain+2Ech@InternalDomain error in Exchange message tracking log.
The problem is why Exchange did not send the undeliverable email to the email address event if it's a distribution group?
There is a way to setup this notification when sending emails from distribution group?
I made the test when sending the same email from a normal user and I get the undeliverable email.
Many thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
William

Hi,
You need to convert the IMCEAX NDR to a X500 value and add it as a proxy address in the DL
This is because the LegacyExchangeDN value goes missing

Can you please advise?

Can you confirm the "Target Address" attribute for this DG and the primary mailbox? Is DG able to receive External emails?
Also, the members of the DG would receive the emails. I hope the members are added

Reply:
Yes it's correct, when a user sends email from DG email, no NDR is received in case of problem with an email not sent.
The DG has been set up properly with its own email address and work properly. Yes DG is able to receive external emails and all members are receiving emails without any problems.
I'm going to be clearer, actually no NDR is received when IMCEAINVALID error on Exchange server. Indeed If we have this issue is because there is a problem with Exchange or Outlook. I made many tests in order to understand what appears exactly. So the main problem is that Exchange is not able to send an email to an external email address because of IMCEAINVALID error. See below the error message when we try to send from the standard user. The same message should be received when sending from DG. FYI, it's possible to receive NDR message to DG if the email came out of the Exchange server.
Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:
xxxx@xxx.xx' INVALID:xxxx@xxxx.xx) This message was rejected by the recipient email system. Please check the recipient's email address and try resending this message, or contact the recipient directly.
Diagnostic information for administrators:
Generating server: SVR-EXCH.domain.local IMCEAINVALID-xxxxx+40xxxx+2Ech@local domain Remote Server returned '550 5.1.0 RESOLVER.ADR.InvalidInSmtp; encapsulated INVALID address inside an SMTP address (IMCEAINVALID-)'
Actually a user receives this IMCEAINVALID error when he try to send an email. I've tried to send the same message to the same recipient with Outlook 2010 and 2016, try to delete the user in Outlook and re-type the email address manually with no success.
I've also tried the same thing with OWA, worked properly with no error message. Finally in Outlook, I clicked on Empty Auto-Complete list, it fixed the problem yesterday but I have to test if the problem appears again.
Finally, we have to fix IMCEAINVALID error and why DG is not able to receive NDR.
Thank you
------------------------------------
Reply:
We can fix the IMCEAX NDR quite easily. But before that i just want to clear the base of it.
Clearing Cache should fix it. As the emails work from OWA
Based on the NDR, It seems either the email address is incorrect or the external party has blocked your email (May be SPAM filtering)
Just to confirm Normal user mailbox sends an email to External email address. Is this external email address a Exchange recipient or Hotmail/gmail providers?
Also can you share the output of Get-distributiongroup | fl
Get-remotedomain -identity default|fl

Reply:
Personally, I think there is a bug with Outlook, because I'm sure of the email address used. The problem appears with many email addresses. When I try to send an email to the same recipient from another user it works. Furthermore when I empty the auto-complete list from Outlook and try to resend the email, it works.
The email remains on Exchange server and is not blocked by any spam filter. In the past we already had this issue but we fixed it by deleting the email address in the field TO (auto complete list)and retyping the address .
External emails addresses are Exchange recipients. As you can see on my previous message, in the diagnostic information you can see that it's my local Exchange server that return the error and not any another server.
Also for clearing, our Exchange server send all emails to anti-spam gateway and I can confirm that emails never reached this server.

SSRS Report Parameter to show data by hour/Day/Month/Day Peak/Month Peak/Year Peak
I have the DB table that stores customer name, hourly values (0-23), reading dates all meters. I created a SSRS report that gets the data from the table with the following parameters:
Start Date:
End Date:
Customer: Dropdown list that show all our active customers
Report By: Dropdown list that show (Hour/Day/Month/Day Peak/Month Peak/Year Peak)
When an end user select date range (start & end), customer name and Reportby:Month. The report should show the total for each month (based on start n end date range).
I created a dataset under query have this query:
SELECT CustomerName, ReadingDate, IntegratedHour, IntegratedUsage, IntegratedGenerationFROM DB.dbo.TableName
WHERE (DATEADD(HOUR, IntegratedHour, ReadingDate) BETWEEN DATEADD(HOUR, 0, @StartDate) AND DATEADD(HOUR, 23, @EndDate)) AND
(CustomerName = @FacilityName)
ORDER BY ReadingDate, IntegratedHour
This query results me the hourly values. How do i filter or bring this to show report by Day/month/Day Peak(Highest Value for the hour)/ Month Peak (highest value for the month)/Year based on end-user selection. I am not sure where to set the filter.
Could someone help me on this. Appreciate your help/advises. Thanks

Hi shiv_dsnair,
Does the database table store hourly values? Please share some sample data, including useful column fields and detailed rows.
What do you mean show report by month or month peak? If selecting month, do you want to show some total values for each month? If selecting month peak, do you want to show the max value of each month? Please elaborate your requirement with more detailed information. Please tell us how did you design your report, what is the current output and what is your desired result. If possible, you can post an image.
Based on my assumption, you can group the data dynamically depend on parameter @ReportBy selection. Here are some links which describe similar requirement to yours:
Show data on SSRS report grouped week or month based on parameter
Month and Year options parameter in SSRS report
Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Yearly parameter for scheduled SSRS report

Yuliana, Thank you for your reply. Here is what I am trying to get in SSRS. My DB table as got the following columns:(customername, readingdate, hours, IntegratedUsage, IntegratedGeneration). So I am trying to show report on hourly total of integrated Usage/Generation. For ex, if I select a date range (3/1/2017)-(3/1/2017) and report by: hour, then the report should show all the hourly values (0-23) (integratedUsage/generation) for the date range.
If the report by is selected as Day then it should show just 1 row for the customer, reading date and sum total of integratedUsage/generation for the date range.
if user select the date range as 3/1/2017-3/31/2017 and report by month then I should show monthly total (integrated usage/generation) similarly for the year. Day Peak is the Max(intergatedUsage/Gneration), Month Peak is the Max value for the month and year peak Max value for the year.
Just showing a sample for 1 customer. If the user selects multiple customer we got to show that as well.

When there is a nested Loop, how to break an inner loop when a condition satisfies in inner loop.
Hi All,
There is a nested loop having "For" loop as outer loop and "Foreach" loop as Inner loop.
I want the Iteration should exit from the inner loop and continue with next iteration of outer loop when the "Elseif" condition satisfied in the Inner loop. But the Break statement breaks both loops. i.e: Instead of printing "I am here!!" its printing "Exit from outer loop".

Windows 10: Watchdog violation error
Been having problems with Watchdog violation errors happening while playing games. And once doing normal things on my computer. Been going on for about two weeks, thought it was graphic card drivers. But I rolled it back to the pervious one and it still happens. Read there was a problem with a controller driver but mine wasn't the mess up one. Updated it anyway and still nothing. I will link the memory dump

You have posted an idea of what you'd like to do and asked others to write a script for you.
As jrv has noted, that is not the purpose of this forum.

Nice try, but no. This forum is for specific scripting questions. It is not the right place to post a vague specification or idea of work, and ask someone to research and deliver a solution for you. If that is your expectation, you will need to hire a consultant and pay them for their assistance.

Reinstallation of AppV Client on Win10 Pro?
On my Win10Pro machine, I had IE Developer Channel installed before I upgraded from Win7 Pro. Since several applications misbehave now (e.g. I cannot follow links from Outlook mails by simply clicking on them) and most forums agree that the reason is an outdated Developer Channel installation, I want to remove it. However, deinstalling fails while telling me that AppV Client cannot be started. Indeed I'm not able to start the service from the Managenent Console. It produces an error saying that an MTS context object is missing. Now as I could not find any hint on the web which would help me I'd like to reinstall the AppV Client. However, I cannot find any source to download the package from. I know that reinstalling my machine would be a clean way, but currently so many important applications are installed (development machine) that it would take me quite a lot of time to reinstall so I want to avoid this.

Windows Update
Hello,
Not sure if this is the right place for this, and if not, would the Forum Moderator forward this to the right person.
I would like to know what the M$ bone-heads were trying to sneak on my excellent working Windows 7 computer this time? I ask this because as I was doing my daily routine of checking my emails I had a Pop Up, in which I was told, " Windows Was Unable to install updates......"
When I got done with my e-mail I checked ( As I always Do ) myself, and low and behold there were no updates available?????
So, I ask again, M$ Bubble Heads, What were you trying to sneak onto my computer? If I had my Windows Update set to the default, I have no doubt that I may have received some stupid update that would have compromised the excellent working state of my Windows 7 computer, just the way I like it, Thank you very much.
This is exactly why I will never switch over to W10, you like to boast that you give the user control but it's all a farce, I honestly don't know why you even push Windows 10 like you do.
The Letters, P.C. I always understood them to mean " Personal Computer " well M$ Bubble-Heads, your W10 Frankenstein of an O.S. has taken that control away from the user. Ergo the computer is not " Personal " anymore.
I am so glad that I still use Windows 7....My Personal Computer.
Cheers,
P.S. Oh Yeah, STOP!!!! trying to sneak stuff on people's computers, creating havoc for people just so they get fed up and more over to W10, That's may seem like a good tactic, but the only fish you get with that tactic are the ones that don't realize that there is a " Hook " in that tasty looking morsel.

One of the best ways to channel your concerns is to use windows feedback. It's been a while since I used windows 7. In windows 10 you can type feedback in the search and it will open the feedback hub.
If you cannot find it that way you then may be able to do a google search for Microsoft feedback hub and sign in with a Microsoft account, the sign in that you used to make a poste in TechNet, and send your feedback.
If you want to see whether you did or did not get a windows update you can view windows update history. There you can see the last time anything was installed or failed to install.
Sometimes you can be fooled by its display for what it installed. In order to confirm any installation you can use the search feature and type in the KB number and attempt to uninstall it. If you can uninstall it then it was a successful download. If you cannot uninstall it then it was not a successful installation.
These are some links in which you may be better able to contact Microsoft:

If your Windows 7 is intended to upgrade to Windows 10 without your will, it would cause from GWX (Get Windows 10). If this guess is right, you can stop the forced or unwilling upgrading.
Run Cmd.exe as an administrator, and type (1) [Return], and then type (2) [Return].
(copy and paste with [edit] in Cmd.exe)
(1)
reg add HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Gwx /v DisableGwx /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f
(2)
reg add HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate /v DisableOSUpgrade /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f
If you are an IT geek, you will know the above commands add key and set value in registry,
and imagine it can be done by RegEdit.exe, instead of Cmd.exe.
I hope nuisance will be disappear.

Custom entity extraction
I have been going through this topic http://www.dotnetmafia.com/blogs/dotnettipoftheday/archive/2013/01/08/no-metadata-no-problem-custom-entity-extraction-in-sharepoint-2013.aspx and have not made success on this. I tried it with meta field body and it work ok i think.
The whole idea is i want to create a custom field called docref word part, i then want to base this on that field .. is this right to do or not , does it only work on body .
Can anyone supply a step by step in doing this pls

Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16170 for PC
A note of caution in the those notes;
"As we mentioned earlier this week, you won't see many big noticeable changes or new features in new builds just yet. That's because right now, we're focused on making some refinements to OneCore and doing some code refactoring and other engineering work that is necessary to make sure OneCore is optimally structured for teams to start checking in code. This also means more bugs and other issues that could be slightly more painful to live with – so check your Windows Insider Program settings!"

Can't add PIN to access windows
Reply:
1. Log in as Administrator.
2. Locate C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Ngc
3. Delete all the files present in Ngc Folder.
4. Now go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in Options
5. Try to add a new PIN.

cannot use my PIN to access windows.
It seems there is always something different in this area. Lately I have found that if my OSK is open on my other monitor this problem sometimes happens. Then I have to close the OSK (provided I have my mouse available since it is on a non-Touch monitor). Then I can open the OSK on the Touch monitor (e.g. via the Accessibility menu.) Then I can use the PIN. Go figure! I keep trying to pay more attention to what is different when this happens but it is never consistent so far as I can tell.
So, why can't the Accessibility menu at least close the OSK if I try to use it when it is already open but unusable? Also, I suspect but am not yet certain that the OSK's NumLock state may have some weird role to play in this absurd use-case.
Windows 10. Still an Adventure ("Twisty passages, all different.")

SSRS Report Parameter to show data by hour/Day/Month/Day Peak/Month Peak/Year Peak
I have the DB table that stores customername, hourly values (0-23) and reading dates all meters. I created a SSRS report that gets the hourly data from the table based on the date range (start & enddate)
Report Design has the following parameters: Start Date: End Date: Customer: Dropdown list that show all our active customers Report By: Dropdown list that show (Hour/Day/Month/Day Peak/Month Peak/Year Peak)
End user selects date range (start & end), customername and Reportby:Month. I should be able to show the report based on user selected option (report by:).
I created a dataset under query have this query:
SELECT CustomerName, ReadingDate, IntegratedHour, IntegratedUsage, IntegratedGeneration FROM DB.dbo.TableName WHERE (DATEADD(HOUR, IntegratedHour, ReadingDate) BETWEEN DATEADD(HOUR, 0, @StartDate) AND DATEADD(HOUR, 23, @EndDate)) AND (CustomerName = @FacilityName) ORDER BY ReadingDate, IntegratedHour
This query results me the hourly values.
How do i filter or bring this to show report by Day/month/Year based on end-user selection. I am not sure where to set the filter or how to query.
Could someone help me on this. Appreciate your help/advises. Thanks
