Create Key SMS_DMP_CONNECTOR
Inside SMS_DMP_CONNECTOR key create following string values
After creation you will have
Set ProxyUserName value as your domain\username notation in our lab case root\sccmadmin
Go to CAS admin console
Select your Site System properties;
in Proxy tab, set you domain user account in our lab case root\sccmadmin or if you did complete again required server name or IP, your port in our case 8080
Software Update setting, set Use a proxy server when synchronizing software updates
Check server IE proxy Values and navigate
Restart SMS_Executive
Check registry
Use CmTrace to view the progress
After final process, you will get the 1702 in available state instead of downloading

Suggestions for a program to copy a folder tree (for backup) that respects all information a file provides, sets the archive flag on copied files but allows it to be reset and does itself not rely on the archive flag
Hi,
Can anyone suggest me a program to mirror a folder tree for daily backup purpose, which makes exact copies of every file, I mean it shall copy the file's data, timestamps, attributes, security-, owner- and audit information. Additionally, it shall support incremental copies by just copying the files that changed after the last run (files that differe between source and Destination in any of the six criteria). While doing this it shall not rely on the archive flag in the source folder as this is unriliable and leads to inconsistency when folders which contain folders themselves get moved into other folders.
So far this could propably be done with robocopy. But I Need the program to set the Archive flag on copied files (preferably not folders), and when the files' archive flags are later cleared in the destination by e.g. a third party tape backup software, the files shall not be copied again.
Robocopy will identify such files as tweaked (if their archive flags are set in the source) and copy them again when using /it (I need /it because I need file attributes to be updated in the destination), or as changed (if the archive flag is cleared in the source) and copy them again (see https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/de-DE/043517fa-2a06-4bda-bbc9-e13583d55258/why-does-robocopy-treat-a-file-as-changed-after-toggling-the-archive-flag-and-toggling-it-back-again?forum=win10itprogeneral).

Recently i have got requirement to Install Remote Desktop Services (Terminal Server ) for one of my client.
I have i a total confusion while refering the lots of articles for RDS configuration and setup.
I will Explain my requirement briefly
The office set up should have around 50 employees.I need to set up a session Based remote desktop service where each users will have their different user session.Apart from that we are using a ERP software which works in SQL as back end and some application program as front end.
So i need to create a farm where each users will be able to get their session with the programs ERP software ,MS office and every thing.
Where i stuck is ,should i go with a one server where all the remote desktop services will install in one server and another one for my ERp application.
or is there any need to have i have deploy each services for remote desktop in different Servers.
Please assist me with your knowledge .

In my publishing site, I inserted a Picture Library Slideshow Web Part. However, all my images shows up very small and not fitting the entire zone area. ONly takes about 1/3 of the width of the zone. How can I fix this? thank you.

How can I programatically configure Remote Desktop Services Session Host in Windows Server 2012 without a domain?
We build turn-key solutions for customers, and for years, we have been doing this. What I am looking for is a script-based method of performing the following actions:
- Install Remote Desktop Services Session Host
- Configure some "standard" settings: IdleTimeOut, Disconnected session behavior, temporary folders, encryption levels and such
My understanding, with w2k12, is all of this must be done to a Session Collection. I have a PowerShell script that performs the install of Remote Desktop Services - Session Host, Connection Broker, and Web Access (Add-WindowsFeature RDS-RD-Server, RDS-Connection-Broker, RDS-Web-Access) while NOT on a domain, and now I am stuck trying to configure it.
When testing with this server on my production domain, I can get the following command to run: ($strFQDN is populated in the script)
New-RDSessionDeployment -ConnectionBroker $strFQDN -WebAccessServer $strFQDN -SessionHost $strFQDN
Once off of the domain (which is a requirement for customer server builds, not allowed to be on my domain, or any until it is at the customer site) I cannot get this command to function as expected. I am presented with the following output:
New-RDSessionDeployment : Validation failed for the "RD Connection Broker" parameter.

Yes, more people are moving to the AD world. Why in the world could that be used a justification to just completely bend over your smaller customers? Or, customers that provide a value-add on your products? But, I digress...
Thoughts? How can I accomplish this VERY simple task WITHOUT putting this system on a Domain? (Well, very simple in Windows Server 2003/8/8R2)

You can get answer from the link:
Server 2012 RDS is designed under the basic premise that RDS servers will be joined to a domain, at least one RD Connection Broker will be present, and that RDSH servers will be managed as a collection using Server Manager (and/or powershell). Same is true for Virtual Desktops (VMs), they are designed to be managed as a collection.

I understand that this is Microsoft's stance, however from my original post, I said the answer provided by this link is not a valid answer. "Windows Server 2012 was designed under the basic premise that RDS servers will be joined to a domain" is NOT a valid response to this question.
I need a method of performing this in a NON-DOMAIN environment, as I am a value-add reseller of the Windows platform. What we do is build and configure servers in-house, then deliver them to customers, in a turn-key configuration. We task the customer with just joining it to their domain, and then it just works.
Since these systems are not built in the production environment, and have no access to a domain, I am asking to have a method of configuring a Windows Server 2012 system the same that I could for Windows Server 2003 / 2008 / 2008 R2.
So, I ask again; How can I programatically configure Remote Desktop Services Session Host in Windows Server 2012 WITHOUT a domain?
Maybe a patch could be released for the Powershell cmdlets that removes the requirement for GetDomainUserSID, and instead just perform a normal user validation? And, for the FQDN, maybe it could just accept a server name, and as long as it can find it, just perform the work? This does not seem to be an unsurmountable issue.

The problem isn't adding the Role, I can do that with the following commands:
Import-Module ServerManager Add-WindowsFeature RDS-RD-Server
However, I am using the following code, since these Powershell cmdlets in question rely on the Connection Broker and RD Web Access to be installed:
Import-Module ServerManager Add-WindowsFeature RDS-RD-Server, RDS-Connection-Broker, RDS-Web-Access
While this does get Remote Desktop Services installed, and it does accept connections, I have no ability to create a Session Collection, so I can configure parameters like Idle Session Timeout, and Enabled/Disabled device redirection.
Group Policy settings are not ideal, since Local Group policy can over-ride Domain Group Policy, and once this system is delivered to the customer site, I need the customer to have the ability to over-ride the settings I set, without having to modify local Group Policies.
The WMI settings are interesting, but appears as though there are some settings that I cannot set. Well, I don't really understand how to do anything with a Session Collection (my understanding, a requirement) on a non-domain environment.
Another thing I need to be able to do, is use a Local Group that is created on the server, to be added to the Session Collection as the Group that is granted access. This way, all the customer has to do, is add their Domain Group to the local group I create, and it will grant them access to RDP and all other resources needed on the server.

Hi,
I recommend you write your script so that it runs after the server is joined to the customer's domain. For example, you could have it where the first time an admin logs on after the server is joined to a domain your program runs, presents a screen letting the admin know what needs to happen, the admin clicks ok (and provides any required information, if needed), and your script performs all of the configuration tasks and restarts.

Hyper-V guest machines Deleted

I am using windows 2012 hyper-v server core edition with below config which free from Microsoft since last 8 months.
Hardware
Dell R730 with 32 GB Memory
HDD
Raid 5 with 1 hot spare ( C:\80 GB, D: 2.2 TB)
Last week my server suddenly gone down and giving me message that " OS not found". I was trying to repair OS but my C:\ drive showing totally empty and D drive all VM and their config file deleted automatically.I logged case with dell they not found any hardware failure in logs.
So what could be reason for deleted all VM ?

you got hacked dude....... the only fix for you is a back up copy or to reinstall
i have had that happen to mine more then once
what has happened is some one used the BCD commands on your drives deleting the boot manager files and oops it will cause your OS to disappear you may be able to fix that using BCD Edit COMMANDS
before you reinstall when you get your rig fixed make sure you firewall the COMMAND prompt IN and OUT

Power Pivot, Power View, and Power Query are almost immpossible to use in corporate america.
I have been trying to be an evangelist for Power Bi, Power Query, Power Pivot and Power View, but Microsoft has made it almost impossible to use in a corporate setting.
Execs don't want there data leaving the building, so Microsoft puts a share button on Power BI reports and makes us save our data to the cloud. The cloud is very scary to upper level managers. And why isn't cant you disable the share button???
Then there is PP, PQ and PV. It only works with Excel 64 bit. And of course the default download from Office 365 is 32 bit. So if you want to use, or share files that use those tools. You have to go to every machine in the building and swap out Excel 32 for 64, that's if you are even able. Why is there a 32 bit Excel? 2 decades after they started making 64 bit machines???
Of course they are add in for 32 bit Excel, but they don't work. Good thing they packaged no working tools. You can find 32 version of the Power tools, but I cant get my to work. They just make Excel crash, or theres no buttons on the Power view ribbon.
Why build these tools if they are almost impossible to implement?

My brother in arms I feel your pain. At one of my previous employers I was the only person running a 64 bit MS Office (because of Excel) and that was a multinational spanning across 5 continents. Needless to say, all my reports were data dumps only nothing dynamic. Sending them my PP file would have crashed their 32b excel applications. At least with PP, instead of Microsoft , we can always blame the IT guys it's them.. they are the ones who install the default 32 bit MS Office during the initial set up :)

Not sure what you mean about Excel Power Pivot, since I'm in a corporate environment with Office 365/32bit, and I am writing PP reports. With Excel 2016, and I believe 2013, you should be able to use 3GB on 32bit Windows, 4gb on 64 bit windows. That's a lot of data.

I am using Excel 2013, 32-bit Part of Microsoft Office Pro Plus 2013. I saved some simple data into Power Pivot and it crashed Excel. I never saw the Power Pivot tools after that. I read about a work around where you uninstall the add in, then add it back in which I did. I add a table (2 columns by 3 rows) to Power Pivot it crashed again. So I gave up on Power Pivot.
I went to add-ins and checked the box for Power View. Nothing. There is nothing on the insert riboon and no buttons on the Power view ribbon. I read about work arounds related to unistalling and reinstalling and silver light. I can not uninstall because an Admin must do it for me at the current corporate office I am at.
So instaed of building models and writing DAX, I am searching Google for work arounds and uninstallin and reinstalling etc. At other business I have worked for, its the same thing but not quiet as bad.
The point is, if I am going to develop Power Pivot models and Power View reports, I have to go over to everyone I share them with and walk them through along process before they will work.
I thought Microsoft's motto was bring data to the people. But 99% of the people I work with, that I develop reports and models and DW can't get these tools to work on their own. I feel like I am doing Microsofts job configuring these thing, when MS should make a tool that works. Its disappointing when I tell people what cool reports and pivot tables, etc I can make... and then tell them but I can get it to work for you.
When I buy a car, the brakes work. I don't have to uninstall and reinstall, and add this component, and figure out what wheels I have and search the interent for articles on how to make them work. I just apply a little mindless effort with my foot.

Well as a discussion, to me the http://www.windows.com/stopcode is aimed a helping users, so normal home users. If I follow the guide I can see 'Update your drivers' does come up as a suggestion. To me that is good advice. A lot of BSOD errors are drivers issues so yes the game is to finding which one (dmp files and WinDbg) but updating all drivers may just achieve the same thing.
The page you suggest is a good resource but I notice near the top the Note 'This topic is for programmers.'
Not a perfect page perhaps but a step (albeit a perhaps a small one) in right direct for helping the average user have a go at resolving a BSOD error. Hopefully the start of a bigger work in progress.

I did that and more. Even reinstalled drivers from manufacturers. Update 15031 recognizes the devices but just refuses to work with the drivers. I managed to get an external wi-fi dongle to work, but reverted to my current/stable version of Windows 10.
What bothers me is that MS does not publish these known errors...

The update to 15063 also caused me a whack of device issues, whereby Win 10 IP was flawless over the past 2 years. Device manager is pyloned like a construction zone!
Windows is now claiming the LAN and wifi adapters have 'hardware issues'. We booted from a Knoppix CD, the adapters worked right away...

Unable to register new server in SQL 2008
While installing SQL server 2008, I did not get the option "Installation type" to register the Instance and Server. After installing it, I tried to register a new server from Views> Registered Servers>Local Server Group>registering a new server then I am unable to register it as it is saying

It's unclear why you expect this to work. That is, there are are a multitude of reasons why you can get this error, and this includes fat fingers on the keyboard. The correct reaction is to conduct proper troubleshooting. Is the server/instance running? Any firewalls in the way? Everything correctly spelled etc.
To this I like to add, what may seem a like silly thing to point out, but I do it nevertheless: did you actually install the instance you are trying to register? Registrating an instance only means that you catalogue it locally on your workstation. It does not install an instance.

Exploring Microsoft BI Options - Excel power pivot with sharepoint vs ssas data cubes
So we are looking at options for building dashboards. One team member has built some neat looking "reports" in Excel using power pivot. So then, the discussion turns to how to how to deploy these spreadsheets, the impact on production systems, access levels etc. Im sure I am not the first to go down this road.
So here are a few options with (my thoughts) the pros/cons
(1) SSAS cubes with SSRS reports that use the cubes as their source
pros: allows one to fully seperate the data, the model and the dashboard front-end
cons: time involved in setting up the plumbing, ETL process, maintenence, seperate databases etc
(2) Excel powerpivot published to Sharepoint (using no intermediate database or etl)
pros: fast to build, no ETL to manage
cons: excel spreadsheets all have embeded sql queries, many of which might overlap in function, resulting in redundant work that might not be kept in sync.
My consensus at this point is that to deliver BI to a team that might easily grow beyond a handful of people to dozens to several dozens, the first option is better. If one starts off with the 2nd, I can only imagine the nightmare of excel spreadsheets that will result.
Am I about right?

This article is misleading & inaccurate by virtue of omission since it refers exclusively to Chrome. This can ALSO be done w/ the "Turn off the lights" Extension for Edge which, is super-easy to get & to use.

I'm afraid there exist two odd points in your post.
(1) Here is a forum about Windows or MS products, instead of 3rd party applications.
(2) If the article refers exclusively to Chrome (I think it is true), it is very natural that there is nothing about Edge.
I can hardly understand what you want to say. Do you only want to say Edge is better than Chrome? I suppose the article you've linked is only an information/tip about Chrome.

The article is about darkening YouTube (not Chrome), ergo should state it can be done in various browsers & how.
Just so happens it is less complex when done via Edge w/ its Extension.
And not a discussion of 3rd Party stuff... the caveat here is in regard to Edge and one if its Extensions.

Some STRANGE happenings.............
I have 2 desktop shortcuts, IE11 and CCleaner, not working.
Right click > click Open. Nothing.
I deleted the 2 shortcuts, went to file location, create each a new desktop shortcut > still not working.
BUT, if I right click at the same shortcut > click Pin to Taskbar > then I can open it from Taskbar.
What's the deal ?
I have run sfc /scannow only 3 hours ago. Don't feel like doping it again.
Besides, the rest of my desktop shortcuts work as they are supposed to.

I just found out one thing.
On those 2 shortcuts, double clicks will open them.
Left click > click Open > will not open.
Weird.
