[Forum FAQ] Cannot perform a backup schedule via Windows Server Backup and receive “The system cannot find the path specified.” Error
Symptom One
You attempt to schedule a backup every day via Windows Server Backup on Windows Server 2008 R2. At the beginning, the backup works without issue. But after a few days it failed and you receive the error "Windows Server Backup: The system cannot find the path specified."
Cause
The issue may occur if there is no shadow copy storage space available on the backup volume.
Verify
You can use the List ShadowStorage command to check if you have enough storage space to store the newly created shadow copy. If you've reviewed the size of the backup snapshot and discovered that there is no allocated space for the storage association, you need to resize shadowstorage.
You could run the command below to create shadow copy storage space on the backup volume:
vssadmin resize shadowstorage /for=<ForVolumeSpec> /on=<OnVolumeSpec> [/maxsize=<MaxSizeSpec>]

Symptom Two
When you add another external hard drive to backup schedule via Windows Server Backup on Windows Server 2012, it fails and you receive the error "The System cannot find the path specified."
Cause
The issue is due to the Original Destination Disk was not attached to the server.
Verify
You could check the disk status in Disk Management to see if the Original Destination Disk is offline or removed.
Solution
You need to attach Original Destination Disk to the Server then choose another external hard drive as backup target. After that, you could remove the Original Destination Disk.
Workaround
To work around this issue, please use the WBADMIN command line tool to add disk.
WBADMIN ENABLE BACKUP -addtarget :{ DiskID}
The AddTarget parameter takes disk ID as parameter. It can be retrieved by running "WBADMIN GET DISKS" command.
Example:
WBADMIN ENABLE BACKUP -addtarget :{ aa123d14-bba0-1dd9-0d93-80aaaa6bbb63}

Connect To Outlook Greyed Out in Sharepoint List
Hi,
User migrated Sharepoint2010 Contacts list in to SharePoint 2013 Custom List and connect to outlook greyed out unable to sync with outlook
Please note that the "connect to outlook"Enable only contacts,task,calendar lists and not for CUSTOM LIST.If anyone migrated in to custom list and no wonder the connect to outlook always greyed out only :)
Double check the list types to confirm connect to outlook enable or greyed out..
Once again CUSTOME LIST no "connect to outlook"..it always greyed out
Migrate back sp2010 contacts list in to SP2013 Contacts list only to enable back connect to outlook option

Hi Nixon,
To be able to synchronize list with Outlook it should be one of the certain types (contact, task for example). For more information please refer to this article: Synchronize SharePoint 2010 content with Outlook 2010
Here are some content type that
Microsoft lists the available content to sync as
- Sharepoint library
- Contact list
- Task list
- Certain types of External lists
Custom list doesn't fall into any of the above categories. There are third party applications like Colligo that I believe would serve the purpose of syncing Announcements to Outlook.

Develop CMS on SharePoint
Is it possible to develop CMS on SharePoint?
Like a company is used to create food booking portal ad delivery in their SharePoint. If Visual Studio development is integrated with SharePoint then it is possible.
There might be more innovative ways of development and usage of SharePoint in business industry.

I have one hyperv host server 2016. there are five VM's Hard disks on D drive. one hard disk is too much busy therefore the performance for other VM's Hard disks are low.
Now tell me how i can check IOPS for each hard disk?
How much IOPS are best for each VM's hard disk?
My host server have a SATA 7200 RPM.

Why is MS constantly cutting all the things that I use in Office?
I am getting really tired of MS cutting out features that I use all the time. Sure, they may add something from time to time that makes life better but with Office 2013, they have really gutted more than they put in. I can no longer view more than one month of the mini calendar on the right side of my inbox, the dates with appointments are not bold and the only appointments that it shows are the ones for the current date. I am not a person that has a dozen appointments in a day but I like to see what my week is looking like without having to switch to the calendar while working in the email.
The calendar ribbon seems to be missing the GoTo Today which was good when I moved several months away from today. Instead I have to click on GoTo Date and then click on the dropdown for the date to select Today. With the time going through all that, I probably could have scrolled through to get back to Today.
With my email view, I used to have unread emails show the first few lines of the email in my InBox and when they were read, they would no longer show the few lines but only the column information. How can I get this function back?
It used to be you could delete certain menu items that you never use out of the ribbons. Now I have to remove there ribbon groups and recreate them just to remove one item I don't want. This is more of a waste of time.
Is MS trying to cut more features out of their PC products so that we will all move to their products on their Cloud? I really don't want my personal, legal and financial information entered into their Cloud products and trust them to keep them 100% secure. I have heard rumors that MS wants to get rid of their pay once and use software to pay annually leasing so they can make more money. I think that rumor is more true because of the way they are gutting more and more out of their software and building up their online/Cloud products to replace them.
I am the first in my family and friends to get Office 2013 and I have started telling all of them to keep their old versions because of all the damage done to this new version. I am also going to uninstall this office and go back to 2010 so that I can actually get back to working efficiently and faster... unless someone at MS can tell me that they are going to bring back the functionality that they chopped out.
While they are at it, they need to bring back the Start button to WIN8. Thank God for StarDock for providing an app that has given me back my Start button. I almost went back to WIN7 because I could never get the mouse to that small little spot in the bottom left hand corner without moving to my other monitor on the left. Everything is pointing to MS wanting to move forward and leave their loyal customers of the past in the dust!

How do you delete suspended WCF persisted instances in APPFABRIC that have accidently been set to terminated status?

Chipset driver
Good morning.
I have a Dell 8700 running Windows 7 Professional.
I had to reinstall the operating system using a version provided by Dell on a flash drive. It was supposed to contain all drivers but did not.
I was receiving two error messages: 1) PCI drivers not installed, ans 2) USB drivers not installed.
I was able to download and install the PCI driver from the Dell website without issue.
I am now experiencing a problem installing the USB chipset driver downloaded from the Dell website (XPS-8700_Chipset_Driver_1TH4K_WN_2.0.0.100_A00). The error message states that "The computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software".

RE : Windows Defender takes long time to appear, then white page, then WD shows up..
Insider build 15048.
The following issue also occurred in 15046.
I have no other AV except Windows Defender. Just that. Not even a free edition Malwarebytes.
Whenever I open WD, it takes a long time as if nothing is going to happen.
Then a mainly white page appears ( see screenshot ).
Then after another undue waiting, the real Windows Defender shows up.
ONLY Windows Defender has this issue.
Anyone has this problem ?

I do not read every article Microsoft released. Probably I missed the one regarding this.
Can someone explain why Microsoft includes this option in Windows Defender Security Center, instead of in Update & Security > Recovery ?
The option of Reset this PC in Recovery is not the same as this one.
This one looks very much like a Repair Install (aka In-place upgrade install). Yes ?
If it is indeed equivalent to Repair Install, that would be great news for users, bypassing all those steps which some people may find uncomfortable with.

Hyper-V server 2016 - Nested on Nas [solved]
Hi All,
I installed a Hyper-V server 2016 on Qnap Nas with no problem : It runs fine !
The problem : i create a VM on the Hyper-V, but it doesn't work... I have the error (picture 1)... The picture 2 is the same but in English (for the forum)...
When i run the script for Hyper-V to see if the device is ok with the virtualization, no problem (it's fine : see the picture 3)...
don't understand ???

What script are you running? Not all hypervisors pass through the necessary components for virtualization, or require additional changes to be made.
Hyper-V isn't supported in a nested configuration, but it does work under VMware's hypervisors with the correct settings.
Are you sure your NAS's hypervisor passes through whats needed?

The Hyper-v was installed with success, it runs fine ! It's just the Vm on the Hyper-V that causes to me a problem... If you watch before the result of the scripts, you will see that it's ok... So i don't understand, why the vm won't start...
The error : An error occured while attemping to start the selected virtual machine(s). Failed to start the virtual machine 'WIN2016-LAB' because one of the Hyper-V components is not running.

are you sure that your QNAP model is supported for running of MS Hyper-V server?

You should also check if MS Hyper-V Server 2016 is supported on QNAPs.
As for nested virtualization:
You need to have dynamic memory turned off on your VM - so use static Memory assignement and
Set-VMProcessor -ExposeVirtualizationExtensions $true
Than you can install and run Hyper-V server 2016 on your VM running on Hyper-V 2016.

yes because at the moment, Hyper-V server 2016 is running fine on my Qnap... It's not the problem with the first Hyper-V... The problem become with the VM (Hyper-v or Windows 2016 server or other system) on the Hyper-V...

Hi,
let's proceed step by step:
1) SRV-HPR-01 is Win2016 Core with Hyper-V on physical Host ..this one is running OK
2) Any VM running on that host is running OK with no problems (For example another Win server 2016 core without Hyper-V, or some testing Win7 gen 1 virtual machine)?
3) In this step you are trying to Install Hyper-V role on WIN2016-LAB Virtual Machine and enable Nested virtualizuation, this one suceeded with no error. WIN2016-LAB is gen 2 Virtual machine with VM version 8.0.
4) Now you run any VM on WIN2016-LAB Hypervisor and it fails...
Is this your procedure? Have you checked running VM in step 2 ??

1) NAS Qnap with virtualization Inside (physical Host)
2) On the Qnap virtualization, i installed an Hypervisor Hyper-V : SRV-HPR-01 (is running fine)
3) On the SRV-HPR-01, i created a VM : WIN2016-LAB
4) Win2016-LAB (gen 2 Virtual machine ) : doesn't start...

With my deepest respect for Mr. Bott, but if a machine is on 7, leave the poor thing alone and let it die a respectful death. The parts are old, more than likely the video card and parts are not Windows 10 certified. Instead encourage folks to buy a new computer. Many are not that expensive and tons have lots more functionality and able to do more and faster on the better hardware it invariably ships with.
I really don't like the wink wink we won't mind if you still use this back door that (it appears) that Microsoft is doing.
The rules are the rules. Don't upgrade to 10 at this time, buy a new computer with Windows 10.

with the deepest respect, Microsoft say you can update then, if I understand what you are saying, they change the rules!
I have a new laptop with Windows 10 and keep this old one - which I had upgraded to Windows 10 for a back up and to browse rubbish on the internet.
So ifi hae upgraded to 10 but want to get rid of Enter Network Password - how do I do that.
Maybe go back to Windows 7?
I am not technical - how do I do that.
