hi
the net connection is necesarry for prerequisites. You can downalad before and store them to your mobile storage and then isntall the farm withouh net connection
But you need also to legalize your copy For that you need to contact local MS office
For trial version i don't think you need network connection

It should fail if the user is a delegated print server admin even when using the print drivers included with Windows 2008R2.

How to Connect Multiple Domains from HTA Scripting via LDAP
Hi All,
I'm currently working to create one single HTA script to manage User Accounts on Multiple domain, based on the User selection. Here is my sample script,
strUser = txt.valueIf strUser = vbNullString then
MsgBox "Please Enter the User Name to Proceed", 16, "Check User details"
End If
If rbtn1.Checked Then
strDomain = "Domain1"
End If
If rbtn2.Checked Then
strDomain = "Domain2"
End If
If rbtn3.Checked Then
strDomain = "Domain3"
End If
If rbtn4.Checked Then
strDomain = "Domain4"
End If
Set objUser = GetObject("WinNT://"& strDomain &"/" & strUser & "")
If Err.Number <> 0 Then
MsgBox (strUser) & " isn't a valid user name!", 48,"User Details"
Wscript.Quit
End If
Err.Clear
If objUser.IsAccountLocked=0 Then
strLocsta = "Not Locked"
else
strLocsta = "Locked"
End if
Here i have used buttons for selecting the domain, based on the button selection the respective domains will be selected.
Here is my trouble. Say im using this script on the Server which is part of Domain1 and from the same machine i could able to access Domain2 for which 389 Port were enabled using dsa.msc.
But when i use this script i could only able to get informations of the users on Domain1, if i select Domain2 im getting Network Path not found.
I'm looking for an option, where i can specify the domain controllers to get authenticate and retrieve users or is there anyway to overcome this problem.
Objective is that i need to get connected to the both domain controllers and get the users information. Kindly help me with some examples or syntax.
Regards,
Saran

RDP to my Virtual Server fails and my hypervisor connection has no mouse. only a dot.
Strange issue, my 2012 hyperV server is running 4 servers 2008 mix with 2012.
one of my 2012 servers started acting strange towhen i RDP it, only shows a bday, and i have no checkpoints to revert since it's only been live for about 1 week. When I RDP to the server (used to work) I get a black screen with the arrow then after about 1 min I get a failed to connect try again later. When I connect via hyper-v manager I can log in but my mouse is gone i see a dot, which moves with the mouse but doesn't give me any functionality.
I rebooted everything both server and hyper-v server and nothing, both are 2012 and updated. I have seen old posts having similar issues, but their RDP works. Any ideas what I can try before I revert to reformatting.
I've also done a check dsk and a /sfc scannow.

I don't have a data warehouse in my lab environment so I can't be a beta tester for you at the moment, but I'll set one up soon and take a look at your program.
------------------------------------
Reply:
Your program is fairly straight forward, although I was confused with the Settings Window.
I think you only need 2 buttons, OK and Cancel. Apply just doesn't close the window. Also I think your OK button description should be changed to "Attempts to set Data Warehouse SQL Server to use"
Looking at your searches, I'm glad you've included checkboxes.
However the (by LAN Id) was a bit confusing, I'd instead go with (by USERNAME)
Also, while I may want to specify an exact user name, maybe I want to search for a user with first and last name and select that one, sort of how it works in Active Directory.
I'm impressed you mentioned paramertizing the SQL string to prevent SQL Injection attacks, too few do that....
Also on the viewing forms, I was happy to see the Billable Time/Time Worked relationship, you may want to format the "Time Worked" column in a DateTime Format of H:MM .... so instead of seeing 90 ... you see 1:30
Also you need to make the Time Worked Read-only (so I can't enter data, it won't affect anything but still.)
The Search Results are bland and should include DisplayName instead of just the Display Id (ex. IR234).
Also the "Data" Menu Item --> Export Results to Text, should be turned into a single button and put to the right of the Search Result, ex. (Copy list of Results to TextFile)
I can tell you put a lot of effort into this, one thing to note is the entire program will crash if the user is entering the server name and hits ok without apply, and then uses the combobox.
Also it appears you are saving this in a user.config file which places itself on C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Security_Benefit\SCSM_Archives_Searcher.ex_Url_chobg0wrhbemva01hvx24yvgf15knica\1.0.0.0
Maybe you should include a reset settings option so someone doesn't have to browse their to delete it.
If I delete that file it's like I'm opening the program for the first time, if I type in a correct server name and hit OK without hitting apply, I then continue as usual, but after selecting incident/service request options, the program crashes. Also I noted only after hitting apply and then closing the entire program does it decide to create the config file.
Our SCSM setup haven't started using Service Requests yet so I'm limited in knowledge of what should be there, however you don't have a list of activities ordered by Sequence, so maybe linking activities should be the next step as change requests and service requests use the same layout.
All in All, you did pretty good (you also took care of converting the stored UTC time to Local Time, which can be a real pain when times aren't matching when you query them using local time instead of UTC time.)
One slight recommendation, after changing my keyboard language as well as the Region and Language System Locale to something other than English (US) I noticed it was still giving English Enumerations back. You may want to ensure the keyboard language is the one you draw from, unless it's 'ENC', then use 'ENU'. I know this because I've been making my own advanced version for my end users as well as future auditing purposes (troubleshooting the 'ENC' languageCode was difficult, 4/5 computers work, but one doesn't, figure it out!).

Thank you for the feedback.
Settings window: Yea, there was confusion here about that too. Removing the Apply button is starting to sound better all the time.
Lan ID: I wanted to be clear about the data point the query is keying off of which is dbo.UserDim.UserName but to me, user name can mean a whole lot of things. I was just trying to be specific. I also thought about making it able to search by first/last name but I wanted to flush out all the functions and get all the core workitem types in there before adding niceties.
Time Worked: Nice catch on the read-only part. I'll get that updated.
Search Results: I want to go back a revisit how I implement this functionality. I still need to maintain a list plain work item ids. This is for interoperability with another program a wrote to assist with our Security Team's audit process. The program takes a list of tickets and then retrieves all the file attachments and saves them to disk.
App-Crash in Settings: I found that one too, trying to make updates to null objects is like dividing by zero, ha.
App Config: It will have its own config file in the user's application settings but using the built in app settings for debug speeds thing up.
Localization: Good point. I'll have to add in a language selection in the menu, just like the SCSM console.
I'm currently finishing work on the the Release Record lookup window. Once that's done (along with some bug-fixes and input validation) I'll post an updated executable on the gallery post.

Found a few issues:
It appears switching servers isn't being saved, if I close and re-open the program, it points to the same server I initially specified, not the one I set in between.
This also isn't even changing inside the program itself, I had to manually delete the config file so it would prompt me again, after choosing my other server, the data from that server became available (One server has Problem Tickets, the other does not, so it was simple to perform this test.)
Double clicking the Created Date on Problem - Related Items causes the Window to crash (make it read only)
Unlike other tickets, I am unable to Search by Incidents with the criteria:
Created Date - Less Than - 1/1/2016
This results in a SQLNullValueException: Data is Null. This method or property cannot be called on Null values. Button_Click - SearchIncidents - SqlClient.SqlBuffer.get_String()
Change Requests:
After populating description it seems to crash, if I'm really quick I can click on another tab. Other times it crashes before even loading anything after clicking to open a change request.
I've tested on my environment where I've extended the change request, and on the environment where it's a clean build, the entire application crashes on both (even when updated to latest UR7 as well). Are you using the SCSM Change Request (Advanced) projection "System.WorkItem.ChangeRequestProjection" ...
Only thing I could gather from the error was "System.IndexOutOfRangeException" from the generated WERInternalMetadata.xml file.
All in all, you've got some bugs in need of fixing, but you've come a long way. It's not everyday someone takes a crack at the monster.

Been a while since I had some time to check out your latest version.....
Most of it looks good, one recommendation is when I make the main window bigger I want to see the list of search results expanded, it'd be better to have the Vertical Separator not move to the right when I expand the window, so it's like I'm only expanding the list.
The only bug I encountered is if you select Release Record which grey covers the fields "Support group" and "Classification", if you go back to either "Problem" or "Change Request" it does not uncover the "Classification" like it should, instead currently you'd have to go back to Incident or Service Request, and then select problem or change request in order to see that field.
Other than that, I'd say it's a nifty tool you've made, and if I was not far along with my own custom version for my end users, I'd be using yours completely at this point.

Can I use RSAT to remote manage a Windows Server 2012 R2 from a non domain PC?
Hi, if I have RSAT installed on a PC that is not part of a domain, is it possible to remote manage a Windows Server 2012 R2 server to add new domain users?
I tried following instructions on this article https://joscor.com/blog/using-microsoft-rsat-from-a-non-domain-pc/ but when I executed the bat file I see the following ...
RUNAS USAGE: RUNAS [ [/noprofile | /profile] [/env] [/savecred | /netonly] ] /user:<UserName> program RUNAS [ [/noprofile | /profile] [/env] [/savecred] ] /smartcard [/user:<UserName>] program RUNAS /trustlevel:<TrustLevel> program /noprofile specifies that the user's profile should not be loaded. This causes the application to load more quickly, but can cause some applications to malfunction. /profile specifies that the user's profile should be loaded. This is the default. /env to use current environment instead of user's. /netonly use if the credentials specified are for remote access only. /savecred to use credentials previously saved by the user. /smartcard use if the credentials are to be supplied from a smartcard. /user <UserName> should be in form USER@DOMAIN or DOMAIN\USER /showtrustlevels displays the trust levels that can be used as arguments to /trustlevel. /trustlevel <Level> should be one of levels enumerated in /showtrustlevels. program command line for EXE. See below for examples Examples: > runas /noprofile /user:mymachine\administrator cmd > runas /profile /env /user:mydomain\admin "mmc %windir%\system32\dsa.msc" > runas /env /user:user@domain.microsoft.com "notepad \"my file.txt\"" NOTE: Enter user's password only when prompted. NOTE: /profile is not compatible with /netonly. NOTE: /savecred is not compatible with /smartcard.

SSRS report times out within asp.net reportviewer on web form
I have an SSRS report that's called within an asp.net web form via the ReportViewer control. It's a huge report, which now takes about 7 minutes to query (I can't try to work to reduce the time of this query because my company won't give me permissions to modify this stored procedure).
Due to this long query time, the SSRS report is timing out after 90 seconds on our asp.net website. If I go to the Report Manager & run the report, it's fine. It only times out on the website. I've tried adding "AsyncPostbackTimeout=600" to the scriptmanager for the ReportViewer control but no luck. Here's the code for that:
<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server" ScriptMode="Release" AsyncPostBackTimeout="600"> </asp:ScriptManager> <div > <rsweb:ReportViewer ID="ReportViewer1" runat="server" Font-Names="Verdana" Font-Size="8pt" ProcessingMode="Remote" Height="480px" Width="100%"> <ServerReport ReportPath="the report path" ReportServerUrl="http://ourserver/reportserver" /> </rsweb:ReportViewer> </div>
I've also added the following line to my web.config but again, no luck:
<httpRuntime maxRequestLength="1000000" executionTimeout="600"/>
I went through the code & there's no place else we're specifying timeout time. I should also add that this is only happening on our Windows server (I believe it's 2008). When I try it locally, it works fine.
Any suggestions as to what else I can try?
Thanks in advance.
Reply:
Hi Goalie25,
the ScriptManager's timeout value is not persisted in ViewState (unlike the ReportViewer's timeout value) and the code is only setting it once inside a if (!PostBack) block. Fixed by setting the ScriptManager's AsyncPostBackTimeout property at each request (even postbacks). An alternative is to set it to a fixed value using the Visual Studio WebForm designer.
<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server" AsyncPostBackTimeOut="56000" >
</asp:ScriptManager>

Central data reporting hub?
I have multiple groups within my company submitting data to my group.
Forms of data are variable - word doc, excel, pdf, etc...
These data are tracked via manually extracting data and placing in a "master" spreadsheet.
However, keeping track and updating that spreadsheet is not reliable (it has switch hands multiple times).
Also, let's say that Groups A,B, and C all submit one piece of data for a single unit. That is, this one unit has 3 associated data files that need to be recorded and tracked as being submitted for that particular unit.
Now extrapolate that into hundreds of units with associated data files.
Can sharepoint be set up in a way such that each group can select a particular Unit, upload the data they have for that unit, and then have a notification sent to my group?

<script type="text/javascript" src="https://www.google.com/jsapi"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> google.load('visualization', '1.0', {'packages':['corechart']}); $(document).ready(function() { GetMyData(); }); var dataArray=[[{label: 'Name', id: 'Name', type: 'string'},{label: 'Hours', id: 'Hours', type: 'number'}]]; function drawChart() { var data = google.visualization.arrayToDataTable(dataArray); var options = {'title':'Utization on portal projects', 'width':400, 'height':300}; var chart = new google.visualization.PieChart(document.getElementById('chart_div')); chart.draw(data, options); } function GetMyData() { var soapEnv1 = "<soapenv:Envelope xmlns:xsi='http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance' xmlns:xsd='http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema' xmlns:soap='http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/'> \ <soapenv:Body> \ <GetListItems xmlns='http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/'> \ <listName>utilization</listName> \ <ViewFields>\ <FieldRef Name='Title' />\ <FieldRef Name='portal' />\ </ViewFields>\ <query><Query> \ <Where><IsNotNull><FieldRef Name='Title' /></IsNotNull></Where>\ </Query></query>\ </GetListItems>\ </soapenv:Body>\ </soapenv:Envelope>"; $.ajax({ url: "https://training-site/_vti_bin/lists.asmx", type: "POST", dataType: "xml", data: soapEnv1, complete: processResult1, contentType: "text/xml; charset=\"utf-8\"" }); function processResult1(xData1, status1) { var extract1; var extract2; $(xData1.responseXML).find("z\\:row").each(function() { extract1 = $(this).attr("ows_Title"); extract2 = $(this).attr("ows_portal"); dataArray.push([extract1,extract2]); }); } drawChart(); } </script> <div id="chart_div"></div> Thanks in advance!

Keep stoping application pool with Custom Identity
Hi,
We are facing some serious issue with SharePoint2013 web application as all the application pools using custom identify keep stopping after restart the web server.

Error instantiating indexing service query object (ixsso.dll) in code. "ActiveX component can't create object"
Hello. We have followed Microsoft's instructions for installing the Indexing Service in Windows 2008 R2 (64-bit).
After installing, I've confirmed that the ixsso.dll (v6.1.7601.17514) is located in C:/Windows/System32 folder. I believe that this is a 64-bit version of this dll (please let me know if you determine otherwise).
I've also confirmed that the indexing service is running and catalogs have successfully built.
However, we receive an error when implementing the following line of code (classic ASP, VBScript) to programmatically instantiate the object that corresponds to this dll:
set objQuery = Server.CreateObject("IXSSO.Query")
We receive the following VBScript runtime error:
ActiveX component can't create object
I've looked everywhere, but but have been unable to find a solution to this specific problem. We've hit a dead end, so I would appreciate any advice that you can offer on how we can troubleshoot and resolve this error.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi,
I'd like to help but I'm not quite familiar with VBScript.
You can post in MSDN forum for any development related questions. How you can find a solution there.

Hi,
try the following:
- Use regsvr32.exe to register the dll
- prove that the dll in system32 is 64Bit
Don't forget that you can't just overwrite the 64-bit W2K8 version with the
32-bit DLL from W2K - 64-bit and 32-bit DLLs are in different folders in a
64-bit Windows install.
Can you switch IIS back to 64-bit mode and see if that then works? If you're
on W2K8 64-bit then that would explain why IXSSO.DLL can't be loaded - it's
a 64-bit DLL, and so your ASP application has to be running in 64-bit mode
to load it.
If it does not work: Copy also the 32-bit version of ixsso.dll in to the 32 bit folder (syswow64) from a 32-bit environment and set the application pool to 32 Bit. Don´t forget to register the dll.

Thanks for this response, David.
I can confirm that the ixsso.dll is registered because I could run it using the 64-bit version Windows Script Host (the 32-bit version of wscript.exe generates the same error message at the ASP application). So, given that ixsso is 64-bit and that it is registered, why can't the classic ASP app run it?
Regarding your note about copying a 32-bit version of the ixsso component to SysWOW64 and registering it, I've seen others note that they've tried that without success. However, it might be worth trying out of desperation.
I am a little confused about the application pool settings in IIS7.5. The options are either "True" or "false" for "Enable 32-bit Applications" The application pool for my application is currently set to "True". My understanding is that this setting would allow the site to access both 32-bit and 64-bit applications...not one or the other. Am I incorrect?
I'm happy to try changing this setting to "False". However, even if that works for the ixsso object, I fear such change will have negative repercussions in other parts of the application. Thanks for these ideas!

Respectfully, Shaon, this does not feel like a language or development issue. I'm not looking for coding advice. This feels like a configuration issue with the OS, perhaps IIS.
The referenced line of code, set objQuery = Server.CreateObject("IXSSO.Query"), works in classic ASP on a 32-bit server. This line of code could be translated to VB.Net or C# and should work the same.
I'm wondering what I need to do to configure OS2008R2/IIS7.5 to instantiate this ixsso object in Windows 2008 R2 (64-bit) ) using a classic ASP application given that this object could be instantiated without error on Windows 2003 using a classic ASP application?
Thanks again!

Hi,
Sorry for redirecting to a wrong place as I'm not familiar with these information you provided.
If it is IIS configuration related, you can also post the question to IIS forum. Hope you can find an answer quickly.

MIDI keyboard device on remote desktop server
Hello,
I have problems connecting my local MIDI keyboard device to Windows server 2012 ( I am connected to it with remote desktop connection). I have checked all boxes in options -> remote local devices and resources that I want to use in my remote session.
But in my remote desktop session where I am connected to Windows server 2012, my keyboard is not among devices.
Can anybody help me?

Hi,
Please specifically refer to step 5 and 6 in this article and see if you can get it displayed in remote system. If still not, it could be the device which is not supported Device Redirection.
To redirect supported Plug and Play devices, under Local devices and resources, double-click Other supported Plug and Play (PnP) devices.The Plug and Play devices that support redirection and are currently plugged in appear in this list.
To redirect supported USB devices, under Local devices and resources, double-click Other supported RemoteFX USB devices. The USB devices that support redirection and are currently plugged in appear in this list.

Thank you. Obviously my keyboard is not supported for rediredction as it is not shown on list of plug and play devices. Are there any other options to redirect?

Hi,
Sorry for the delay, but if it is not supported I'm afraid that it will just not work.
You can test to install a driver on server side if there is any available one however I cannot promise it will work.

Error loading navigation: The Managed Navigation term set is improperly attached to the site
Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.Navigation GetNavigationTermSetForProvider(CachedAreaLookup cachedAreaLookup, taxonomySiteMapProviderSettings providerSettings, out Exception error)
i get the "Error loading navigation: The Managed Navigation term set is improperly attached to the site" today. Seem i am not alone (http://www.shailwx.com/2012/07/sharepoint-2013-errors-error-in-managed-navigation/), however, iisreset does not works for me.
And message in ULS log does not provide more helpful information, i had to attach to w3wp and debug with Visual Studio and .net reflector.
Turned out that the following line from Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.Navigation.TaxonomyNavigationCache.GetNavigationTermSetForProvider(CachedAreaLookup cachedAreaLookup, taxonomySiteMapProviderSettings providerSettings, out Exception error) always return null
NavigationTermSetAttachedWeb attachedWeb = set.LoadedTermSet.GetAttachedWeb()
that is, what follows always returns null.
internal override NavigationTermSetAttachedWeb GetAttachedWeb()
{return this.termSetData.AttachedWeb;}
It seems that there should be some spweb guid written into the termset, but it is lost for my case.
The solution is to switch back to structure navigation in site settings->navigation and switch to managed navigation again. This way, the lost attached web id seems to be written again.
However, i really don't understand why the id can be missing. I remember this morning when i edit the managed termset, the "use this term set for site navigation" in "intended use" for the term set was incorrectly unchecked. I wonder whether this could have caused the problem.

Hi GuYuming,
Can you try removing the MMS for the webapplication via central admin-> services connections and try attaching again after reset. If still issue exists may be you can create another MMS and try attaching to the webapplciation and check whether its working or not.. Good luck

Reputable JBOD vendors
With server 2016 coming down the pipe, most notably storage replica. I'm going to attempt a storage spaces deployment. I've gone through the "supported" manufacturers on the MS catalogue and seem drawn toward DataON. The major vendors (HP, Dell, Lenovo) are way too highly priced. we may as well stick with SAN technology.
I'm just interested in who people are using and having good success with. Thanks.
who has what access to share and who are the members of groups?
http: WHACKWHACKblogsDOTtechnetDOTcomWHACKbWHACKheyscriptingguyWHACKarchiveWHACK2009WHACK09WHACK14WHACKhey-scripting-guy-september-14-2009DOTaspx
How would I take it a step further and see who are members of "NWTRADERS\Administrator"?
Basically: here is a share, path, folder: share_folder_subfolder
What groups have access to it?
Who are members of those groups?
In an Excel output (not csv).
$TempCSVPath = "D:\Output\SharedAccess.csv" (yes, I know it says csv, but really need Excel)
$RootPath = " share_folder_subfolder"
Write-Output $RootPath | Out-File -FilePath $TempCSVPath -Append
$Acl = Get-Acl -Path $RootPath
$acl.Access | ForEach-Object { $_.identityReference.value } |
Out-File -FilePath $TempCSVPath -Append
*************
logic tells me the next step would be to somehow get "NWTRADERS\Administrators" in $grpname and "Get-ADGroupMember" something like this:
foreach {
$grpname = $_
Get-ADGroupMember -Identity $_ |
select @{N='Group'; E={$grpname}}, Name, SamAccountName
} | Out-File -FilePath $TempCSVPath -Append
************
But I am stuck.
Can you help?
Thanks

You ened to learn PowerShell and Excel as well as the Windows file system and Windows access based security. After you have an understanding of those technologies you will bebetter eYuipped to move forward.
A CSV file is an Excel file. If you double click it it opens in Excel.
Start by learning what a CSV file is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comma-separated_values
There are many good books on PowerShell and on Windows technologies.
Start small and learn to do just one thing in your shopping list. You have posted "guess" code but have not tried to write or run and script. That is where you have to start.
