Infopath custom form - conditionally enable Ribbon Button
Hi,
I have created an infopath form which i have published in a forms library such that whenever i try to add a new document, this form opens and take values. There are buttons in the ribbon by default which i can easily remove but there isnt anyway to conditionally enable it. Is there any way that i can make that button only available depending on a certain condition.
Regards,
Nishant

Hi,
In the form library, edit the page, add a content editor web part. In the Content editor webpart, put the condition to make the ribbon button enabled..

retention workflow not getting triggred
Hi All,
I have a scenario described below.
We have created a tool which creates a Publishing Site and a Publishing Subsite within it.
Now we a Content hub in which we have created our own content type(Document) and defined retention policy for that content type.
Now The problem is stated below :
Whenever the retention stage is reached the Workflow (SPD 2010 Workflow)gets started on the Site collection Level but not at the Subsite level.
When we see the Workflow screen the associations are shown but the workflow is never triggered.
Note : We have published the workflow globally.
Any Help would be appreciated.
Reply:
Did you activate the Workflow Feature at the sub site level??
You have to activate the workflow feature at every level where you want to run it.

Infopath Tasks form is not completing the status of the task
We did a database restore of our production envronment into the UAT, There was a workflow working perfectly fine in the Production, However, It has stopped working in the UAT environment. The workflow creates multiple task during the complete process. We can see that the First task is being created, However, When the user tries to complete the task, all the values are getting saved back to the task list but the status of the task is not getting changed to "Completed" The status is still "In Progress" and the workflow is throwing a generic error. "An error has ocuured in the <WORKFLOW NAME>".
This is a Sharepoint Designer workflow.
Reply:
Try opening the workflow in designer from a UAT site and check for the completion condition for the task.
May be some variables get vanished in restoring from Production to UAT.

Error Closing Browser-Enabled InfoPath in iFrame
We have historically had SharePoint libraries appearing in iFrames on the Dynamics CRM site and have recently tried viewing a Form Library in an iFrame. The browser-enabled form opened in the iFrame operates correctly, but errs when the form tries to close and return to the parent library.
Problems:
- The form does not close after submission or when "Close" button is clicked
- The form does not return to the form library View after closing
- Clicking "Close" again results in a SharePoint dialog displaying ("The form has been closed. Click Start Over … or Click Close…")
- A script errors occurs in the SharePoint "Core.js" file ("Microsoft JScript runtime error: Permission denied" - and other errors I could detail)
Setup:
- InfoPath form hosted in a SharePoint 2010 Form Library, viewed from iFrame on Dynamics CRM 4
- SharePoint & CRM in same domain on our internal network
- iFrame in CRM set to allow cross-domain scripting
Testing Notes:
- Tested viewing form in iFrame on test website for debugging and saw similar behavior (not just a CRM issue)
- Tested framing an InfoPath form hosted in another environment and saw similar behavior (not an environment-specific issue)
- Debugging the Core.js script showed errors on page load and on clicking the "Close" button
- Script functions erring since input value null for both View_CanNavigateToUrl(a) function and GetEventTarget(a) function
- I'm wondering if the script cannot find the parent when in a framed context
Questions:
- Is this a known limitation that an InfoPath form will not behave correctly in an iFrame?
- Is there any scripting changes I can make to the page hosting the iFrame to overcome this?

Hi Elder,
Whenever you open an infopath form in Browser it opens and appends Source Location query string from where it was opened and on closing of this Form this form goes back to Source location.
Now your problem is, since you are showing this form in an iFrame whenever you are closing this form it fetches the current URL fromt the window Url and doesn't found that Source Location query string that's why it is showing you The Form has been closed (which is an expected behaviour).
Now what you can do is by putting some javascript on the page where you are showing your Form in an iFrame is to find the "Close" button and on click of this button change the URL of your iFrame to the Parent URL or URL where you want to go back.

Window 7 - Unattend.xml has product key - STILL prompts during OOBE!!?
I have create a Windows 7 Home Premium master image using a the official Microsoft Authorized refurbisher installation disc. I am trying to create the answer file that will contain the product key so that the end user will not have to manually enter it during the OOBE welcome. Using the Windows System Image Manager I created a new answer file from scratch. I've tried three configurations of the answer file:
1st attempt. Adding Microsoft-Windows-Setup\UserData\ProductKey and entering the product key there and setting WillShowUI to 'never'
2nd attempt. Adding Microsoft-Windows-Shell_Setup\ and entering the product key into the 'product key' field
3rd attempt. I had both options 1 & 2 added in the same answer file
Regardless, everything it boots to OOBE I am still prompted for the product key
I've move the Sysrep folder to C:\sysrep and place the unattend.xml file into this folder.
I'm am running sysrep with from the command prompt with this:
C:\sysprep\sysprep /oobe /shutdown /unattend:C:\sysprep\unattend.xml
Any idea as to why it is still prompting for the product key and or how I can get this to work?

BTW, we are NOT using a volume license key. Each computer is has its own retail key or register refurbisher key.

You can add more columns in CQWP by modifying ItemStyle.xsl which is located at your site collection at the following location: Style Library/XSL Style Sheets/ItemStyle.xsl
Create your new template by copying one of the templates don't modify existing ones and you can add new columns as many as you want here.

How to implement a tab control in InfoPath 2010
When we are designing an electronic form, it is always assumed that technically a tabbed user interface can be implemented easily. That is because we see tabbed user interfaces almost everywhere in the software we interact with on a daily basis, we also get used to the convenience of tabs. We kind of take tabbed navigation for granted. For Windows forms applications, there is an out-of-box tab control form Visual Studio .NET. It is the same situation for ASP.NET applications, so it is a drag-and-drop kind of easy operation to have a tabbed navigation in Windows and ASP.NET applications. However, it is not easy in InfoPath because we don’t have an out-of-box tab control provided by InfoPath 2010.
Here are the step by step instructions on how to implement an elegant tabbed navigation interface.
Assume you want to have a tabbed interface with the tabs as Flights, Hotels, Cars and Vacation Packages like below.
Step 1: Open InfoPath 2010 and right click on the “Insert” menu, click on “Custom the Ribbon…” from the popup window.
Step 2: Add Flights, Hotels, Cars and Vacation Packages as custom tabs. You can do so by using the “New Tab” button (not the “New Group” button). Note that, by default, “Insert” will be selected from Main Tabs list, you need to select “Add-Ins” before adding any new tabs. Otherwise, these new tabs will be inserted in the middle as opposed to be appended at the end. Click on the “Okay” button to close off this popup window after all new tabs are created.
Step 3: In InfoPath 2010, click on “Flights” from the menu bar; capture a screen shot of InfoPath and paste it into Windows Paint (for sure you will need to Windows Paint open before this).
Click on “Hotels” from the menu bar; capture a screen shot of InfoPath and paste it into the same Windows Paint from above.
Click on “Cars” from the menu bar; capture a screen shot of InfoPath and paste it into the same Windows Paint from above.
Click on “Vacation Packages” from the menu bar; capture a screen shot of InfoPath and paste it into the same Windows Paint from above.
Please make sure you shift the second, third and fourth screen shots a bit as following so you can always see the menu portion of the first screen shot(s).
Step 4: Select the first “Flights” area like below and copy it to the Windows clipboard (control + c). Make a note of the size of the selection, which you can find out from the status bar of Windows Paint.
Open another Windows Paint and paste this copied selection (see screen shot below). Save this picture as “Flights_Selected.png”.
Select the second “Flights” area and copy it to the clipboard. Make sure the size is exactly the same as the first one.
Open another Windows Paint and paste this copied selection (see screen shot below). Save this picture as “Flights_Default.png”
Step 5: Repeat step 3 for “Cars”, “Hotels” and “Vacation packages”.
Step 6: Use the above pictures and follow the instructions provided by the video at the following link http://blogs.msdn.com/b/infopath/archive/2010/01/07/create-tabbed-navigation-using-picture-button-controls.aspx
At the end, you should see something like this, a very beautiful and elegant tab control in your InfoPath.
To make your tabbed navigation even better, you can create pictures for hover behavior as well. The theory is the same. With the steps described above, you don’t need a professional photo editing tool the pictures you need.

Are you using SPD workflow??
If Yes then you can click on your Approval Task Process and then furthuer go inside your Task Process check the Open single Task behaviour or Overall Task Behaviour link (I am not sure as I dont have Designer to check it) and then inside any of this you will find all information and mail formats you can change any of the mail formats there Save the workflow, Publish it and you are done.

Rely on global conditions for software dist?
We want to deploy a number of applications depending of user/computer group membership.
Our plan:
- Loginscript popluate two reg-keys with name of groups (in hklm & hkcu)
- ConfigMgr picks up those keys a global conditions
- Two collection, one for "all" users and one for computers (just some basic filtering on those collections)
- Deploy all applications to the collections with (at least) a condition "If my global condition contains GroupNameX"
Thoughts and/or suggestions?
Why?
We want to minimize the number of collections and have fast deployment of applications. In our case, just run the loginscript again and you have the app...
I know that global conditions are evaluated every 7 days (or is it 5?), but that's easy to fix so it's done right after the loginscript.

Direct Access Windows 2012 (without UAG) - Not working completely.
I have a LAB Setup to test DA (2 NICS) on Windows 2012. (This is without UAG etc). Everything is virtualized using HyperV
Auto Enrollment is done and working.
1. Domain Controller, DNS, DHCP, CA - Single NIC - DC1.dom.local
2. Web Server - Single NIC - Web1.dom.local
3. DA Server 2012 - 2 NICS - One connected to the Internal Network and other to Internet (external - not real internet). - DA.dom.local
4. Public DNS - 1 NIC - Connected to the Internet - It is in the same subnet as the External NIC of the DA server - DNS01 (Workgroup)
5. Windows 7 Client - Has received all the certificates and the DA client policy. Now connected to the public Network, where it can connect to public DNS - DNS01 and DA Server external NIC.
PUBLIC DA NAME = DA.Contoso.com - I have a entry in public DNS to resolve this to external NIC of the DA server. CRL is disabled.
Now, when my client is outside the local network. I can ping all internal machines fine - DC, DNS, Webserver, DA server. So my infrastructure tunnel is fine. However I cannot connect to the webserver or any shares. Not sure why.
One thing I noticed - When I run netsh name show policy - the Certification Authority is BLANK.
DCA 2.0 - shows that the client is not connected the internet - user action. But when outside the network, as I said - I can ping everything but not access any resources.

Sorry 'bout that.... I missed that in your original post.
Is this an IPv4 environment on the internal network? If so you need to enable inbound ICMPv4 Echo Requests on internal resources in order for Teredo to work. Easiest way to do this is to add this to a GPO. As this is a lab, you can add it to the Default Domain policy or for that matter create your own....

It it tries to connect to teredo.ipv6.microsoft.com, then I would say that your clients are not correctly configured. Your clients teredo configuration should point to your-da-server.yourdomain.tld (e.g. da.contoso.com).
Do they get the correct GPO for client settings? Is the client computer account in the correct group in order to get the GPO?
You can confirm your settings with the command:
netsh interface teredo show state
(from a command/ps prompt)

Have you verified the following:
- does the client, when on the outside, register in DNS with its external IP?
- have you created the necessary inbound rules on the client that allows traffic to the client (incl enabling edge traversal)?

I can RDP from DA server to DA ext client, but from inside corp network NO. Also, I enabled Windows firewall logging and I can see only ICMP packets no RDP 3389 is in the log. I can ping client from SCCM or any other server that is configured in application tunnel.
I have read that article, thank you, but no progress. Any suggestions?

Reply:
The first problem you need to focus on is why the client does not register in DNS. For manage-out, you need the client IPv6 address in DNS.
Things to look at;
- Client event logs
- Event logs on DNS server
- Make a Network Monitor/Wireshark trace when a client connects and see if it even attempts to register in DNS.
- After a client has connected and DNS registration failed, attempt a manual registration in DNS and verify event logs and also trace the registration.
Hopefully that would point you in the right direction.

No no, client automatically registers AAAA record in DNS. Maybe we did not understand.
If a client is Teredo or IPHTTPS or 6to4, it always registers with new IPv6 address.

Have you configured ISATAP? That is needed in order for the management machines to know where to find the client and how to get there.
Jason Jones has written an excellent blog entry on implementing a limited version ISATAP without turning your entire internal network into an ISATAP based IPv6 network.

Windows 8 RTM UI Feedback
Some Windows 8 RTM UI feedback.
1) The translucent taskbar is distracting. I don't think this was as much of a problem in Windows 7 because of the Aero glass blur. In Windows 8 if you have a fullscreen remote desktop session into another computer in the background and an application from your primary desktop in the foreground you can clearly see the remote desktop's taskbar beneath your own; very distracting. That and details from your desktop background are visible; annoying if it's a photograph.
2) Window borders are very poorly defined because everything is solid gray if the window isn't active. Again, the Windows 7 Aero glass blur added a subtle hint to distinguish window borders from normal UI elements. In Windows 8 you can't always tell if you're looking at a window on top of another window or two UI elements within the same window because everything is monotone and square. The Windows 8 Release Preview wasn't nearly as bad.
3) Not having a visible start button makes it difficult to open the start menu when remoting into a Windows 8 system in a windowed RDP session.

Last week i saw them.
Now i don;t know where is the problem:In Win7 or my laptop "Toshiba Tecra m1".
Few months ago- i bought a software from TGC, and when i had installed on Toshiba- there was not
many visible items.
The same sowtware we had installed on our older mashine(under 1gh processor), but under XP and the result was great.
Someone said that i must update display driver, but i didn't find for Toshiba under Win7.
So my question is:
What can i make in order to see again my e-newsletters?
p.s. yesterday with help from you i repaired desktop icons with reg.exe.
