It would be good to see a second part describing the format file." DRC: "This is a good article which provides different ways to import the data to SQL, But this article needs some modifications. Suggestions: • It would be helpful, if mentioned on which version of SQL server and Visual studio scenario was tested • We might encounter errors while using the format files, for example we get the below error if the format file doesn't have blank space (character ) at the end of each line Msg 4862, Level 16, State 1, Line 10 Cannot bulk load because the file "C:\temp\good.fmt" could not be read. Operating system error code (null). • So it will be helpful if you can provide a sample format file and TSQL script along with the possible output which can be tested and compared. • The sample query and the format file is not yielding the right output. Screenshots shown in the article has invalid values (for example ID coulmn has invalid values). Format file need to be fixed to get the right data. • The format file under section "Files With Text Qualifiers" is also invalid and the data is not imported properly. • Implementation of import using the SSIS package needs more details about how to make the delimiter consistent, Attaching a sample package would be helpful. * Great job Saeid in winning both places in the Transact-SQL category
* great article Visakh16. There is already article regarding "Parsing Flat File With Inconsistent Delimiters in T-SQL" by the way (Using Bulk Insert to Import Inconsistent Data Format (Using Pure T-SQL)). So now there is a section regarding SSIS as well.

Rogers Mobility has a web site for a Feature available to some of their customers. I discovered it had behavioral & functional issues in Windows 10. I notified Rogers not, The Windows 10 Build Team. I said to them, "You need to fix this by or before the time Win10 is GA". I have just discovered, they did (fix it). It now works perfectly & fully, in Windows 10.

So enjoy exploring & discussing Windows 10.

Hi Srini,
Since this thread has been quiet for more than a month, and Windows Server Security forum is dedicated for PKI related queries, I suggest you post another thread in Windows Server General Forum so that more forum community members would be able to help.

Unable to serve .APK file over HTTPS
I have created an .APK mime type and put up a test APK on the default IIS site. Everything downloads fine on an Android handset.
Mime-type : application/vnd.android.package-archive
I've then created a NEW site to host this file and added the same mime-type etc. When I download the file on an Andoird handset it sees the site, link and file, and when selected it begins a download but immediately fails.
The filename is and the error message is "Download Unsuccessful".
Even changing to a default mime-type - application/octet-Stream same problem occurs.
I'm sure its a configuration or permissions issue for IIS but I cant figure out what. I've replicated the NTFS permissions from the default wwwroot folder to this new site.
The only difference is the new site is HTTPS while the default site is HTTP. If I allow HTTP on the new site it works fine.
EDIT: Forgot to add that a desktop browser (Chrome and IE) both download the file fine from the default and new site.

Hi,
I notice the issue is more related to IIS. Since IIS has its specific forum to provide professional support, I suggest you report the question there. Thanks for your understanding.

Retriewing list of local admins from remote system
I am trying to retrieve a list of members of the local administrators group on a given system and have the output of the function be an object such that and I can use it for later consumption and decision making in the script.
I have spent a significant amount of time researching my options and have come up with the following code. The problem that I am having with the code is that if I run it locally on a system I get the list of the members of the local administrator group. However, if I run it against a remote system I only get SystemName\Administrator back.
I have used this article as a guide:http://blogs.technet.com/b/heyscriptingguy/archive/2013/12/08/weekend-scripter-who-are-the-administrators.aspx
I must be missing something somewhere. Can anybody tell me what I need to change in order to get my result set from a remote system to be like I am getting from the local system?
I should add that I am using Windows Server 2012 R2 across the board.
function Get-LocalAdministrators { [CmdletBinding()] param ( [parameter(Mandatory=$true)] [String] $computerName ) begin { $wmiEnumOpts = New-Object System.Management.EnumerationOptions $wmiEnumOpts.BlockSize = 20 $wmiObject = Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_Group -Filter "LocalAccount=True and SID='S-1-5-32-544'" -ComputerName $computerName $groupName = $wmiObject.Name } process { #$wmiObject $wmiObject.GetRelated("Win32_Account","Win32_GroupUser","","","PartComponent","GroupComponent",$false,$wmiEnumOpts) | ` Select-Object @{Name="ComputerName"; Expression={$_.__SERVER}}, @{Name="Name"; Expression={$groupName}}, @{Name="Member"; Expression={$_.Caption}} } end { } } - Edited by FluffySniper Monday, April 27, 2015 3:16 PM

If it works when you use Get-LocalAdminGroupMember.ps1 but not when you run your script, then you've made an error in your script somewhere.
Any reason you're not just running Get-LocalAdminGroupMember.ps1 instead of trying to rewrite it?

Yes because of the second hop restriction. Use ADSI to get the list. Look in script gallery for numerous examples of doing thei with ADSI.

Reply:
I would add that you need to explain precisely what you mean by "if I run it against a remote system."
If you try to use PowerShell remoting, it will fail because of the second-hop restriction of which jrv speaks.
If you simply connect using WMI, like the original script does, then there's no second hop and it should return results as expected (presuming the account under which you run it has sufficient permission).
-- Bill Stewart [Bill_Stewart]

Reply:
Well lets start by throwin out all of the fancy stuff and kust getting the basics.
To get the remote admin group this will work:
$group=Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_Group -Filter "LocalAccount=True and SID='S-1-5-32-544'" -ComputerName $computerName
To get the accounts this will work:
$group.GetRelated('Win32_UserAccount')
On a Windows 2008R2 domin wit Wi7 clients the dmaion admins group never shows up nor do any explicit domain group members.
Use ADSI to get the membership of local groups.
The issue is, in part, that the SID of the user or group must be resolved to display. If I run the WMI at the console or in an RDP session it will show all members but it cannot when run remotely. If anyone knows a way to circumvent this I am listening.
\_(ツ)_/
------------------------------------
Reply:
Running an unqualified GetRelated("Win32_UserAccount") might not complete in a reasonable amount of time, depending on your environment (in my case, more than at least 30 minutes; I didn't wait for it to actually finish before I terminated the script). There are simply far too many relationships. This is why I fully specify the relationship, as noted in the blog post.
-- Bill Stewart [Bill_Stewart]
------------------------------------
Reply:
Bill, I don't understand. $group.GetRelated('Win32_UserAccouont') is not unqualified but will scan all objects. Either waty we still will not get domain members of the group whereas ADSI gets just the members of the group directly.

This does the job very quickly and efficiently:
Get-LocalGroupMembership -Computername ws701 -Group administrators -Depth 1

That's great, as long as the group you want to query is named consistently across all computers you intend to query. (It would not be useful on my work domain, where there are thousands of different computers with different managers and different standards for naming the Administrators group.)

Then just adjust the code to translate the SID for the group. I think the fast way is to use WMI to get the group name by the SID and use that in the ADSI. I think one of the scripts in the Gallery does it like that.

There is nothing really hard or tricky about this. Here is how to do it if you have renamed the administrators groups which is actually a very rare occurrence.
Get-AdComputer .... |
ForEach-Object{
$groupname=(gwmi win32_group -filter 'SID="S-1-5-32-544"' -Computer $_.Name).Name
Get-LocalGroupMembership -Group $groupname -Computer $_.Name
}
Using Boe's function this is all you need to do. It is very fast and very efficient.
You could also adapt it to a parallel workflow to improve performance even more.

Windows 10 spells more than OS
There's a wee story coming...
I have been a Microsoft Partner and an IT Pro working on computer issues for people for quite a while (will come back to this). Have, also, attended many MS seminars and conferences. We often voiced concerns & complaints regarding that Tech Support experience, if & when it was needed whilst on-site. Hold that thought...
This is the 4th OS I have beta tested for Microsoft. Beta means unsupported. Hold that thought.
There is an effort to convey the idea that the Windows 10 Platform is more, means more, than just an OS. Many reckon that relates to technologies, One Core-Many Devices & all that. There, also, has been an effort to say that , ALSO, part of the equation is a "Changing Microsoft". Some examples: '1-Touch upgrades of beta Builds, free in-place upgrade to GA, updates to the Platform into the future not, new OSs and a different complexion to Support & Customer Relations.
I read all the negative, borderline nasty comments in Tech Forums towards & about MS. And many who don't (or won't) see change in Microsoft...
Now, the wee story:
Even as a MS Partner getting Tech Support, in the past, has often been challenging, frustrating and depending on this or that, may have a fee. I wanted to talk w/ MS Tech Support regarding some queries from people in IT Forums and some questions & issues of my own. I discussed this w/ a MS colleague @ a recent Cloud seminar. For some reasons we anticipated there might be a fee for the call. He kindly gave me a voucher to cover that possibility.
Anyone who thinks MS has not had a revelation and that a change of behavior & attitude into the future has not, ALSO, come along w/ the Windows 10 Platform is in denial...
I rang the number...
1. Hold times no longer insanity!
2. No jungle of options to wade through (phone buttons to push)
3. People answering w/ whom language is not a problem
4. Phone connections that are not terrible.
5. Did not need to use the voucher because it was a "No Charge" call, anyway. What? Since when? Not what we expected.
6. Spoke w/ a Windows 10 Support Tech w/ "The Windows 10 Department". What? Since when? On an 'UNSupported' BETA OS? Where did I call??? Is this MS Tech Support?? Am I, still, on Earth? Did you just say Windows 10 Help Desk for an unreleased OS?
7. He's going to take a couple of concerns higher up & PHONE me back about them. This is previously unheard of and it was HIS offer!
Have been trying to express for about 6+ months there is more worthwhile change coming to the future from Microsoft than just an OS. The positive differences from the past that accompany the Windows 10 Platform are huge. It all may touch different Users in different ways, to differing degrees, some soon, some later. The perks & benefits will be noticed and appreciated, all in good & due time, maybe overdue time but, better now than never.
Cheers,
Drew

Everything of course will be fixed in the next version, it has always been that way. My first beta was win95, been an OEM system builder an Intel IPD since then, and l believe that you are being profoundly naïve.

After the win10 expiratory date
HI
After the expiratory date what happens?
do i need to install my WIn8 again and from there install Win10 again?
Reply:
Most likely you will see your desktop become solid black and a warning about Window2s 10 having expired. I think it will stop functioning at all after a cert time.
You may be able to upgrade to the final R.T.M. (Release To Manufacturing) from the Technical Preview. However, the has not been any official information released by Microsoft and you will have to wait an see what Microsoft says just as everyone else must wait for the information from Microsoft.

Bear in mind that it is still early. Nothing is for sure.
That said, read the following..................
Excerpt............. source
Finally, good news for those who already have upgraded to Windows 10. According to Gabriel Aul, Microsoft intends to support a direct upgrade from Windows 10 TP to the RTM (Release To Manufacturing) version. If that happens, users will be able to seamlessly transition to the final release, while keeping all their settings and installed applications. That would be truly awesome!

1. Can we deploy "Microsoft Windows Intune Company portal" apps to respective mobile devices (iOS and Android)?
2. Can we do backup/Restore for all mobile device?
Since from last one week I was stuck up on this above requirement, I would really appreciate if you would give some advice on this requirements.

yes, and I have created a Microsoft windows Intune company portal apps for iOS mobile device using with Apps store link for Company portal apps, however I just wondering how the new mobile device will receive the application (Microsoft windows Intune company portal)? as per my understanding on this below part, correct me if am wrong.
1. As per my understanding once we download the "Microsoft windows Intune Company Portal Apps" manually on the respective mobile device and login with the Corporate account,
2. Once the logon attempt has been successful, then it will ask you for "Enroll",
3. Once you click the Enroll option then it will start adding the device,
4. once the device added, and the device will be prompt you on the SCCM Mobile device console,
in my case, we have new mobile devices, without installing the Windows Intune company portal how the communication will happended and how we will deploy if we are planning any apps deployments?
Please advise me on this case.
Thanks,
Dev.

Just as a note - as for today (3.9.2015), mandatory deployment of applications to iOS and Android devices is not "supported" with your integration into SCCM, though, that functionality should soon come. I recently ran across this issue when trying to determine the best InTune deployment method (standalone vs. integrated with SCCM). In standalone mode, InTune can and will deploy required applications to your enrolled devices. With SCCM, not so much - they're just made available and the users can install them if they like, but they can also choose not to. I'm hoping to see it come soon. :)

This has not much to do with your initial question. Have you followed https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg699365.aspx and made sure that all prereqs for UDA are met?

1.is that possible to disable the email access on non-corporate mobile devices for a users?
scenario : As of now we are managing 250 corporate users mobile devices by windows intune with SCCM 2012 R2 integrations, and now there are some users have their own personal mobile devices which they are accessing the email in their personal mobile devices, but now it would require to disable the email option to ensure they shouldn't access corporate email's from their personal mobile devices.
It's really appreciate if could someone can suggest me on this point.
Thanks,

With standalone Intune you can use conditional access to block personal devices from using Exchange On-premise and Exchange Online.
However, when you integrate Intune with ConfigMgr you can only manage Exchange Online (currently).

Yes, there will be huge challenges when switch back to Intune standalone(Mobile device enrollment authority settings), however currently we have 400 Mobile devices out of 200 iOS devices, and if the users forgot their passcode what will be solution to reset passcode? lets say one of my user forgot the password on mobile device, and if they do not have a backup for their iphone devices, the only option is wipe the mobile device.
however if we are going for Intune standalone server at least we could get the Passcode clearing features to avoid wiping a iOS mobile devices, or is that any other way we can reset password or clearing the password in Intune Hybrid environment?
appreciate your updates and suggestion on this case.

Bug: DPI-scaling does not work correctly on Large displays - text are not scaled at all only gfx elements
The guiding description claims Text should scale too. And it used to in Win8.1.
Now text is almost impossible to read on a large area display in your living room. Running it on a NUC.

Did you choose a higher DPI value for your screen?
Is the text small in all apps/programs? Or just in some like e.g. the start menu?
On my system I have no problems with text in Windows Explorer, Office, VisualStudio, Notepad.
I have 1920*1080 on a 17" laptop display and use 125% DPI scaling.

folder redirection directory change
hello,
i am an ict technician at a school in belgium.
i have a problem with folder redirection, orginaly the folder redirection was configured for SOME of the users f.e:
my document to \\dc1\homedir\%username%\my documents
now the following problem , my dc1 storage was not enough to keep up with the place of the documents etc
2 weeks ago all of my users have folder redirection to \\dc2\homedir\%username%\my documents.
for the "new users" that didnt used the dc1 before is their no problem but for the users that did use the dc1 is their a problem.
the sync center doesnt remove the \\dc1 location and gives conflicts.
the sync center gives the following locations : \\dc1 and \\dc2.
also when they create a word document and save it under my documents they somethimes get an error, file corrupted or path unfindable. or when they download something it sais u dont have the rights to open while they just downloaded it.
also somethimes f.e they get no icons on the desktop or on the start menu they are just white icons.
the only option i know for now is to delete the user profile on the local pc , log in again.
the user get an temp. account, i log in to my admin again and delete the .bak from the registry
log in again with the new user and the sync center is allright.
also theirs no more problem with word or what so ever.
but this is insane because we have allot of users and allot of pc's its almost impossible to go from pc to pc to remove the users.
thanks in advance !

i tried to to import the certificate in our spam filter server but when i do telnet with mail.mydomain.com(Certificate) not showing STARTTLS. How to fix this issue? Please advise me someone ASAP.
Also i have created a receive connector with TLS enabled but no luck.
Thanks, Venkatesh. "Hardwork Never Fails"

If your spam filter server is an SMTP server, you need to enable TLS on it. That is outside the area of Exchange support. The Exchange system is receiving the email second-hand from the spam filter, so even if Exchange supports TLS (which from what you say, by the way, you have all the required pieces in place), the spam filter needs to have inbound TLS enabled before you can support an external TLS session.
Check your spam filter documentation for how to enable it for TLS.

I have a document with GPO but I guess is not updated.

Restricting users from creation of new PST but allowing users from adding old pst
Reply:
Hi,
As far as I can tell, we can use the DisablePST registry value to prevent users from creating and accessing the .pst files.
Basically the method can only meet half of your request that users can't create new .pst files, but allowing them to add old .pst files doesn't seem possible.

passing a variable to invoke-expression
hello
can anyone help me to pass a variable to invoke-expression. basically i need to assign deny permission for a group in all domains. look below:
. . Foreach ($DN in $Domains) { $Group=((Get-ADDomain $DN).Name)+"\Group1" Get-ADOrganizationalUnit -Filter {name -eq "MY OU"} -Server $DN | % {Invoke-Expression -Command:('dsacls "{0}" /D "$Group":GA' -f $_.Distinguishedname)} } it is part of the code, the rest of it, is ok. i want to send $group1 in invoke-expression command.
thank you.

Assigning $_.DistinguishedName to a variable first and using that variable in the Invoke-Expression.
It also looks like the quotes aren't right in what you posted.

thank you
but i want to pass $group as a variable, not the distinguished name of the OU. look at the code.
I want to send $group to dsacls command

Why do you need to apply deny permissions to a group in AD?Thats the need. it is a restricted OU which we want to deny permission of $group on it.

When you call Invoke-Expression, you're actually launching a completely separate PowerShell.exe process. As such, it will have no visibility of variables that were declared on your 'parent' session, after all, those variables are held in the process memory of the parent.
The same happens when you're dealing with jobs for example. In fact a Invoke-Expression is very similar to a job in this sense, however Invoke-Expression does not continue until the execution of the expression has completed, whereas the whole point of the job is to allow you to continue and pick the job up later.
Anyway, enough rambling...
To pass a variable to Invoke-Command, you need to use the -ArgumentList parameter, and then access the variables pass through $args. Here's an example:
Invoke-Command -ScriptBlock {ping $args[0]} -ArgumentList 'localhost' In your case, your code should look like this:
Foreach ($DN in $Domains) { $Group=((Get-ADDomain $DN).Name)+"\Group1" Get-ADOrganizationalUnit -Filter {name -eq "MY OU"} -Server $DN | % {Invoke-Expression -Command:('dsacls "{0}" /D "$args[0]":GA' -f $args[1].Distinguishedname)} -ArgumentList $Group, $_ } ------------------------------------
