Hey guys i need ur help

My computer have been reacting really werid lately. I think it has a bug. My computer freezes every time you open too much programs or hear music or go on youtube. Latley it just have been lagging really bad. sometimes when it freeze you could move the mouse but you cannot click anything. Also when you log off or switch users it takes really long. Whats wrong with my computer? Can anyone post a download to fix this? please help me tell me everything you know. =] thanks

Content types in SharePoint.

I tryed to insert some item in a list, but was not possible to set it's content type.

I did it using Web Services. Provideng ContentType = "Message" did not work for Discussion Board.
But then I go to Discussion board settings, chenge content types order, save, then return content types order as it was, save.
And then content types works well.

Community room necessary - we ARE community

Hi all,
as I remember, I have got nice and exhausting set of responses and correspondance on "Thread type discussion" here. I was, not far ago, in great suspect, that one member is in kind of isolation over Visual Basic Language forum.

Also for me is very problematic to function in actual system, when we just jump through Q's and know ourselves from them. It is just like your world consisted only from separated frames - there is no place to be together, and from which to visit Q's. I hope this is friendly to your imagination: I am just talking about difficulty to live socially, when you must only jump from planklet to planklet, and every single of them is sinking immediatelly. I would like also point out psychological relevance of this estate: it simply "behaves" as kind of isolation, taken from individual aspect.

As I registered this suspection on isolation, I created thread "Offering a blog" to this member, but It is just a bit nonconform solution. We then concluded, that it is not solution at all, but probably some sticky "non-themasized" thread could be good way.

At developerfusion there is for example standalone forum "Humour", where we can enjoy anything. So also this could be solution. But I would rather, regarding proposiotions of my friends in VBL forum, propose these "community stickies" - one for each forum.

We could talk there about life, us, threads...making jokes and everything needed to make complete online community.

If I might return to psychology of community: you simply make large knowledge of your environment from just only going through Q&A's, but as your knowledge grows, you simply start to feel your options to talk not sufficient. Your concepts on community evolved are large, but some patterns which are required to deepen, cannot be deepen. This is like I borowed you three books on Visual Basic, and after you got impressed with it and enthusiastic about it, I would told you, there is no book more on subject. You could easily get psychically or socially ill in similar situations. But don't take this analyse as some "DO IT" pressure. It is a bit zoomed in order my reasons to be visible.

I appreciate any remark on my text above, because I am not born english speaker, and every language or sense related remark can be very useful to me and consequently future reader and idea contributor.

I am looking forward to debate it with you and curious to see you debating it

Also, to append my speech here, it is remarkable, that for example my signature, which lead many members to confusion could not be explained in some rather personal way. Simply, there is lot of things rising from being community, which is simple "Q/A" system not able to solve: it is not good way to solve our personal problems and probable conflicts just cannibalising' some thread for it. I could not ask Arjun, how he feels, or if he has some problems, just in some Q where we met. Simply, it is not only offtopic. Accidentally this is possible, but it is passed by, for its strange feeling, to start personal dialoque in some "accidental" thread. I think we all have lots to say each other, and it is necessary to give this need some place.

Deployment Strategies

Hi all,
I am currently looking to implement a solution for our corporation that will use Forms Services to handle all request forms for our organization.  We have used Infopath for a few select forms so far, and things seem to be running smoothly.

In order to present our options to management, I am looking for some information on developing and DISTRIBUTING Infopath forms to various departments so they can build their own forms off of a template.

So, with my limited knowledge of specifics, here is our ideal solution.  All I ask is that you tell me if this is viable and if not, why not:

1) Infopath 2007 installed on all 'Form Designer" machines - these are user computers that will be modifying the Form Template I created.

2) Create a standardized Form Template that users from various departments can load, and edit to their liking.  I am not sure if a Tempalate Part or an actual Template would be best here.  We have had issues in the past - when I emailed a form template to a co-worker for example, he could not open it because of an error "information stored on another machine".

3) Create Template Parts that will contain information derived from some Web Services I have created (email, firstname, etc... all pulled from Active Directory using a web service)

4) Distribute these Template Parts using a registry entry on the user's machine that will be automatically entered into the user machine via group policy on our Active Directory server (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\InfoPath\Designer\IPCustomControlsFolder)

..This should allow users to load up a Form Template, and use the custom controls to modify the form.

I do have a question regarding Workflows.  I haven't used them at all yet, but understand them well enough to know this is the route we will be taking (rather than simply emailing the form everywhere, getting approval at each step).

How can workflows be incorporated into this strategy?  Are the workflows separate from the form itself?  What does it 'attach' to?  Sharepoint?  

Thank you all in advance for your recommendations.  I will be using your thoughts and ideas in the next meeting I have, where I will need to make a presentation regarding this.

One more point... Just now I observed I'm seeing "(You are a moderator of this forum)" in front of the some of the forums on Sql Server.
To be specific
Data Mining and .NET Framework inside SQL Server but not in front of other Forums.

And to be honest these are the forums which I followed/posted rarely.   I was hoping to see "(You are a moderator of this forum)" in front of T_SQL, Sql Security, data access, Tools general, Getting Started with Sql Server as I'm amongs the Top asnwerer on these.

IS it going to take time for all forums?

Check now!  I just added you to those forums as moderator.  There is a huge list of moderators/answers for the SQL forums and permissions are granted on a forum by forum basis so it will definitely take a little more time.

Hi Mangal-

I received a large list fro the SQL team for permissions and am working through it.  The goal is to have it complete by Monday morning at the latest.  As soon as I can complete with the entire list, you will have access to whatever forums you listed for to moderate.  Once I finish this list and if you don't have something you need, we can certainly work through that :)

As I already mentioned I was seeing "You are moderator in this forum" on Data mining forums where I hardly posted 3-4 posts, and nothing on T-SQL.   And also mentioned that I was just sharing things I observed.

Have a problem? Clear cache first!

I use Firefox to browse and was getting the header but couldn't see any threads. I finally decided to clear the cache, before I posted to this forum, and the problem went away. It's funny how dumping cache can clear up a number of issues.

I realized because of the behavior that there must have been some kind of update to the forum software, which led me to seeing what might happen if I cleared the cache.

Reporting Turkish Character Bug

I could not find a way to report a bug, therefore I am posting it here.

We have a problem with Business Studio, aka (VS 2005)

I am using SQL Server 2005 SP2.

Whenever we opened a report project, VS could not find data source and rdl files even though they are in the file system. You can see rdl files in solution explorer but can not open them. If you exclude an item and add existing item. You can open it.


We found that if you use i and I , in the project name, for example AritOzelIdare this occurs. You can find details about this turkish language problem in below link.

Sorry about not find a way to report a bug. Microsoft connect provides a way to do this. But it is not obvious. VS 2008 has obvious Report a Bug in Help menu but not VS 2005 even though they use same web site. My feedback ID is below, but it seems there is problem viewing it.

View sql server analysis services cubes with excel 2003

Hi all,
I need to view my 2005 cube with excel 2003.
I tried to connect to the cube, but in the fields list I can only see a long list of fields and measures that do not appear in the right way.

I can't see for example the measures divided into the folders that I created and I can not even see the mesures groups name and even the dimension name. I see only a long list of hierarchies, attributes and measures.

Is there an Excel 2003 add-on that allows to view the fileds list as I can see in Excel 2005? (with the folder 'More Fields' , the perspective name and so on)?

An other question...
Half of my customers have Excel 2003 and the half excel 2007.
I tried to save the excel 2007 pivot table but when I try to open it with excel 2003 (I installed the compatibilty pack) I lose the connection to the cube (I can see something this 'The Pivot table was created in a later version of Excel and can't be updated in this version').
Can someone help me?

SQL stored procedure fails to complete and raises no error

I have a linked server connection from an SQL 2005 server to a SQL 2000 server. Both servers are running windows server 2003

A job running on the 2005 server runs a series of transact SQL statements one of which is a call to a stored procedure on my 2000 server. When the job calls the procedure it runs about half of the transact SQL statements within it and exits without error so that the job continues and completes.

The stored procedure in question conatains a series of insert statements. When the procedure fails to complete it is always after completing an insert statement and before moving onto the next. Nothing is logged anywhere conccerning this on either server

If I call the stored procedure from management studio 2005 it runs properly executing all the transact SQL it contains.

This behaviour has only just started happening and no changes have been made to any of the transact SQL.

Clearly this behaviour is very undesirable, could anyone shed any light on what could be happening

A transactional queue guarantees messages are delivered.  A non-transactional queue doesn't, they could be lost.

Transactional queue messages are durable; non-transactional supports durable or volatile (volatile meaning when the box goes down, the messages vaporize).

Non-transactional queues deliver messages in the order sent, transactional queues don't.

There are some restrictions on transactional queues that may affect you:  for example, in MSMQ 3.0 you can't receive transactional messages from a remote queue.  Depending on your design, you might be forced to use non-transactional, or change where a queue is hosted to get around the restrictions. 

Finally, a transactional queue (or several) can affect the time it takes the machine hosting them to boot up.  The more messages in there (including a dead letter queue) the longer it can take for a server to come up when booting.  In some environments this can be a problem, depending on what role the server plays and what SLAs it is expected to meet.

Vista SP2 - Everything works, and so?

I installed Vista SP1 Beta 3 days ago and everything works fine. Installation went like a dream. i'm not too fond with the logo on the bottom right but I can live with it The thing is I don't notice any difference really! I was worried about Stardock customization programs but they too all work fine. Is it me who is blind? The speed seems to be the same. I was hoping it would speed up the start up process but nothing remarkable there.

What is it supposed to improve?

Code 10 error, lost my DVD units but learned the solution. Easy as pie.

I lost my dvd units today and got the Code 10 error comment and thanks to another person in this forum I fixed the problem by uninstalling ITUNES.

Error when trying to move a thread

While trying to move the following thread:

Into "Visual Basic General".  I filled out the "reason", and clicked "Submit", and the following error appeared immediately below the Submit button:

  • Exception of type 'Microsoft.Com.Forums.Security.NotAuthorizedException' was thrown.
  • Required Field: Display Name must be between 2 and 32 characters
  • Invalid User: The user entered cannot be found or is not a Microsoft Employee

    • I tried it again (from scratch) to make sure that it wasn't a one-off error, and the error appeared once more, but a few seconds later the thread moved over.
