Looking for Physical asset tracking software that leverages SCCM

Looking for Physical asset tracking software that leverages SCCM

I'm looking for an asset management solution to track physical equipment that can leverage the SCCM client. Basically we want a database where all assets are input and removed manually by our warehouse, when either new equipment is received or old equipment is disposed. Technicians would have the ability to update information such as where the equipment is deployed and who it is assigned to. We want the software to be able to then use our existing SCCM environment to ensure all systems are represented in SCCM and then pull additional information about the systems from SCCM.

Currently for our physical inventory we are using a sql database that is accessed through a custom ASP .net application. We are thinking about expanding this application to do things as described above but would like to look into a commercially available solution if possible.

I've found several inventory systems that are close to what we want but require their own additional client to be installed.

Please let me know if you guys know of any way do this with SCCM or other third party software. I would also be interested in hearing what other companies use for physical asset tracking.

you can work with client object model  ECMA Script

var currentlibid = SP.ListOperation.Selection.getSelectedList(); var currentLib = web.get_lists().getById(currentlibid); var selectedItems = SP.ListOperation.Selection.getSelectedItems(context); var count = CountDictionary(selectedItems); for(var i in selectedItems) { var currentItem = currentLib.getItemById(selectedItems[i].id); context.load(currentItem); }

flatbed scanner 22

I've an old scanner named acer s2w 3300u. it was working fine in windows 7. recently i reinstalled windows (windows 7 again) but know its showing an error that "flatbed scanner 22" driver not found. However, it didn't show any error last time. why know?
please give me a solution as soon as possible.

Regard.

Reply:

I don't know how you managed to have the scanner working in Windows 7 since there are drivers published for it.

The only solution is to either use a third party software such as VueScan, http://www.hamrick.com/vuescan/acer_benq_3300u.html , or to purchase a new scanner.  Microsoft does not write drivers for any third party hardware.

HOW TO Work with multiple partitions in a management agent

Howdy everybody,

In support, we receive a lot of calls surrounding working with multiple partitions.  Problems like:

1. I selected another partition, but I am not seeing any data come into the connector space or metaverse when I execute an Import and/or Synchronization

2. I need to pull information from more than one child domain.  How can I do that?

Here is a TechNet Wiki that will help explain this information.

Purchase of Hardware Loadbalancer for Lync

Hello All, We are planning to purchase two HLB for Lync Edge and Lync FE servers. Our external users were 3k and internal users were 7k. Can anybody please suggest which HLB is best under this above this user base. I have gone through the following link

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/lync/gg269419 but not able to decide on which vendor should we select, we have a tight budget so I want to take a cost effective decesion. Any help will be great. Also please let us know if we can use any virtual load balancer under this scenario.

Thanks,

Take a look at the Barracuda load balancers. They are very good and arent over priced.

Defining a LUA (TN3270) on a MS HIS Server

I have not had the need to have a LUA defined before and my brain is refusing to work.

I want my Galaxy Tab 10.1 to be able to have a 3270 session on it.

I have sorted out the android stuff (F5 VPN and TN3270 app) now I need a TN3270 LUA defined on a HIS Server

Thoughts & Guidance appreciated

Allan

Reply:

Allan,

I'll assume that you have a host connection defined on a HIS Server that is able to establish 3270 sessions. Creating a LUA LU is the same as creating a 3270 LU. Open SNA Manager, go to one of the host connections that is currnetly defined, richt-click the connection name, then click New and then Application LU (LUA). a 3270 LU Properties dialog will be displayed. You will enter a LU number to match a LOCADDR value defined in the PU definition in VTAM and then give the LU a name.

After the LUA LU is created, you would assign it to the TN3270 service in SNA Manager to have a TN3270 LU.

See the TN3270 and Administering TN3270 sections of the HIS 2010 Documetnation for more details.

Thanks...

WES7 limitations

I would like to know the limitations of Windows 7 Embedded standard (WES7).

Can anybody tell me the limitations.

Reply:

Hi a lot of information about WES7 can be found at:

Here you can find the considerations/limitations of the two editions of WES:

Reply:

First, don't use physical hardware for your build and capture task sequence

Secondly, make sure there is no antivirus software installed

Thirdly, Sysprep "pausing" for Windows XP is a known bug in MDT. Can easily be fixed with an AutoIT script that moves the cursor during the sysprep process.

1. Make sure you have publishing features turned on.

2. Site settings > Navigation

3. Section for navigation editing and sorting. Look for current navigation.

Hi basil007,

You can go to Site Settings->Navigation->

In Navigation click on edit->

You can change or add the name and URL that you want to navigate.

Hope this might help.

Thanks,

You can edit the heading as well as sub headings  in site setting-->navigation .

Just create a link with the list name and provide the Url of the list where it is placed .

You can also change the display of navigation based on audience setting ...different navigation structure to different users.

Code to Convert Google-Like Query to Full-Text Search

I've just posted some free C# code to convert a simple, Google-like query to Full-Text Search syntax at http://www.blackbeltcoder.com/Articles/data/easy-full-text-search-queries.

It's designed to make your Full-Text indexed data more accessible to regular users.

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for your great code sharing here which will definitely benefit to our community users. Meanwhile, I will move this thread another forum which is dedicated to Full-Text Search.

Someone knows some code for doing this in unmanaged C++?

Thanks & Regards,

Rui

Reply:

I do not currently know of such.  This is a refinement of Michael Coles earlier C# version that removes the special library:

http://www.sqlservercentral.com/articles/Full-Text+Search+(2008)/64248/ - Michael Coles' version

I do observe that the source code for both these is available, so you could convert the code to C++ if it suited you to do so.

I haven't bothered to port the code to C++, but it seems like it would be rather straight forward to do so. C# and C++ are quite similar in syntax.

UPDATE: I will be updating my code over the next month. While what's there seems to work fine. I found that it allowed cases that SQL Server does not. For example if you say "not abc", the resulting query causes an error in SQL Server because you can't search only for matches that don't match. There are other variations as well. The update I'll be posting has an additional step to traverse the expression tree, removing any expressions that are unsupported.

That is true for managed C++ and C#, but are not so similar for unmanaged C++ since managed code libraries are  not available in unmanaged code.

Anyway for managed code your code are great.

Hi there

What error do you see specifically? Can you log in using OWA or is it only when using mapi you experience this issue? Did you create the mailbox in domain A or was it a moved mailbox?

A few things to check (if you havent already).

  • Verify the trust between the two domains.
  • Make sure the user account on domain A is disabled

Besr regards

WebPart Contextual Ribbon Trouble

I am in the process of creating a webpart and want to add a contextual tab to the SharePoint Ribbon. The code I have in the Elements.xml file is as follows:

I also have this Sub on the webpart:
   Protected Overrides Sub OnPreRender(ByVal e As EventArgs) Dim oSPRibbon As SPRibbon = SPRibbon.GetCurrent(Me.Page) oSPRibbon.MakeTabAvailable("Ribbon.Location") oSPRibbon.MakeContextualGroupInitiallyVisible("Ribbon.TreeTools", String.Empty) oSPRibbon.NormalizeContextualGroup("Ribbon.TreeTools", String.Empty) MyBase.OnPreRender(e) End Sub
The Location tab displays but the Tree Tools context tab does not. Also when I click on the Location tab I get this error: Microsoft JScript runtime error: You must set the GroupMaxSize of Group: Ribbon.Location.New before you add ScalingSteps for it
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

As far as I see you have declared the tabs inside Contextual Group. I think it should be opposite to it. First you have tabs, then groups, and then controls. Try changing that.

No need for SSIS here. Just go to the sql agent in SSMS: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/Aa176968

+1

If you really want to use SSIS, put the sp call in an Execute SQL Task and schedule the SSIS package with Agent or your other favorite scheduler. But that's all just overhead. I would stick with Agent.

Matching data sources

Hi,

I need to think about how managing a similar problem as the following one:

I've a centralized database on a main office, containing a Product table (ProductID + ProductDescr), and I've one or more databases for sales branch offices, containing an Orders table (OrderID + OrderDescr + FKProductID) and a Product table copy. Each month, I need to run a matching between Product table of the main office and Order table of the branch offices in order to discover possible data disalignments. For using rightly MDS, do I populate a joined table with orders and products data, or do I execute any other tasks, please?

Any suggests to me in order to solve this issue? I'm a beginner with MDS technology. Many thanks :-)

Windows 7 DHCPv6 from Site Local DHCP server?

So, I'm faced with a problem - my POS $1M switch doesn't support IPv6 relay agents but it does support multicast routing. My DHCP server is a 2K8R2 and I can see that it's joined FF05::1:3.  My clients, however, won't join that group they keep looking for a DHCP server on FF02::2. Is there any way to get the clients to join the Site-Local group for DHCP?
