I tested the URL: https://sacos.sc/AutoDiscover/AutoDiscover.xml
it doesn’t work.

The certificate is OK

If I enter https://sacos.sc I received IIS7 start page

So is the permissions right for /Autodiscover folder and autodiscover.xml ?

Did you done successfully some inside test?  Without goes from Internet ?

For autodiscover.saco.sc you need to add host “A” record in you public DNS

Or create a new zone autodiscover inside of saco.sc

I read Microsoft paper about _tcp zone for autodiscover and SRV record

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940881

Maybe it can help you

Wireless Keyboard and mouse 4000 affects screen saver

So I couldn't figure out where to report this so I will post it here. Maybe it will migrate there. With the microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse 4000 and windows 7 Ultimate the screen saver will never come up and the computer will not go to sleep. It is an odd issue. Here is how I found out. My Microsoft Keyboard and mouse finally died, they lasted a long time I think it was a good keyboard and mouse combo. I purchased a Logitech combo as a replacement. After about 15 minutes, the logitech mouse and keyboard quit working. Turns out I had to disable the USB from going to sleep after 15 minutes. This can be done in Power Options under advanced options. Then I noticed that the screen saver finally starting working. My wife has the Microsoft keyboard and mouse so I disconnected it to see if her screen saver would finally come on and it did. I disabled the USB from going to sleep but that didn't work. I connected her keyboard and mouse to my computer and the screen saver and computer going to sleep quit working. So, the conclusion is something about the microsoft keyboard and mouse 4000 keeps the computer from going to sleep and the screens never switch to screen saver. This is a minor issue to be sure, but for those searching to find a solution to the computer not going to sleep and the screen saver never coming on this may help.

SSTP Certificate Problem

Hi, I've set up a 2008 server for use as a VPN server. I can access the server via PPTP but I would like to use SSTP! I've got to the point that when I try a SSTP connection I get the following error "80072AFC The requested name is valid, but no data of the requested type was found.". Can anyone help? TIA

Reply:
I would assume that this is on a VPN?  If so, what systems are running the infrastructure?  Is it Server 2008 or 2003?  You might have a certificate validation error.  Check with the Online Responders or the CRLs and see which certs were revoked for a start.

Reply:

Cron,

This thread was from 6 months ago, but not sure if the OP found a solution.

The message is saying it's reading the cert, however, it's not accepting it. This error is usually indicative of either the cert is not trusted, the Root CA cert and/or the intermediate cert is not installed on the machine.

Check the Certificate snap-in (Start, run, mmc, add snap-in, for Computer), and make sure the Root CA and any chained CAs are in there.

Can you provide more detail on how you setup RRAS, what type of CA is running (Windows 2003, 2008, 2008R2 Standard or Enterprise), and what type of certificate (v1 or v2), you installed on the RRAS server, please?

See this thread for some ideas, too

Simple Question Re Excel in Lync

Sorry for this simple question in this forum, but I am still getting comfortable with this whole cloud computing thing.

My company does several progress reports that we have our sales people create or update info on jobs they are working on, then forward it off to management who have to edit it, and then we forward it on to senior management and on and on up the ladder.

One of my sales people suggested using Google Docs with which we can make our docs live. Is this something we can do with Microsoft Lync and Excel? My company just signed up with Lync, and those of us downstream from corporate don't really understand what it can do, but this sounds to me like a good fit for Lync.

BTW, most of us are currently using Office 2007, with some of us using 2010, but none of us use Office 360.

Reply:

A Microsoft alternative to google docs is Skydrive, which includes web edition of Microsoft Office (excel, word, powerpoint, onenote).

You can make your documents "live" with skydrive.

MDT2012 Beta 2 so far so good ...

One of the new features that i looked forward to was crossed platform deployment.

Well it works, BUT it does some funny things with bcdboot.exe when using x86PE for an x64 image, it creates another entry in bcd leaving you with a choose prompt when booting your machine (but hey that’s why it’s called beta right ;)). I haven’t figured out this one yet.

Another undocumented ;) feature i found was when trying to migrate from XP to 7 was it didn’t migrate at all (OS was replaced but USMT didn’t work/migrate) a look in the log said that statestore was empty, taking another closer look in the log i found that ZTIBackup.wsf was creating this folder when it captured my ref image, so when applying the ref image it moves the real (with the USMT files) StateStore folder to windows.old folder

Solution on this, remove StateStore from golden Image by old fashon way using dism

C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools>dism /mount-wim /wimfile:"Your.wim" /index:1 /mountdir:c:\mount
Delete folder StateStore in c:\mount and the run dism again to close it with commit,
(dont have explorer on c:\mount open, it will give you a nasty error msg, and you will have to clean it with dism /cleanup-Wim)
C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools>dism /unmount-wim /Mountdir:c:\mount /commit
Another run on this worked as intended

Just sharing what I have found so far :D

Thats life

We've fixed the StateStore folder issue for MDT 2012 RC.

I haven't seen the extra BCD entry, we'll check on that.

NLB error

Sorry, me again.

Am trying to configure NLB on a UAG array (2 VMs). No issues when I configure the array and activate. When I then try and configure NLB (on the external NIC) through the console I get the following error:

NLB settings could not be configured. Unexpected error [0xc0040352].

The activation monitor shows that the activation of the master failed (with the error above), but activation of the member array succeeded!

Have had a look in the logs folder but not much to help troubleshoot this, just  "server1 added to collection with status: Failed".

Any help greatly received.

Thanks

Mark.

Do you have a firewall between the internal NICs of your VMs and/or between the UAG servers and the corporate network? Also, have you confirmed that the UAG and TMG versions are exactly the same on both VMs?

------------------------------------
Reply:

thanks for the reply Jordan.

no firewall between the internal NICs of the UAG and the corp netwrk, but the UAG boxes are in a seperate domain. But am trying to NLB the external NICs, not the inetrnal NICS and have confirmed the external NIC is selected during the NLB config wizard.

Exactly the same config (afaik) on both UAG servers.

Thanks again.

------------------------------------
Reply:

Even though you are trying to establish NLB only on the external NICs, the communications between the UAG servers happens over the internal network as far as I know. Your username could be factoring into this as well. You say they are in different domains, is it possible that the account you're logged into and making changes from is not able to validate or be permissed to make the necessary changes on the other node?

Unfortunately I have not tried this particular scenario before so I don't have a sure answer on what you should be able to expect or whether or not it is supported.

------------------------------------
Reply:

Just to clarify.. both my UAG servers are in the same domain. Just the Ext and Int NICs are on different VLANS. The UAG servers are in a different domain to the corp/internal servers.

The array config went fine (using the int NIC I guess), just the NLB config throwing up errors :-(

Cheers

all fixed.

I had the external IP subnet range configured in the internal NIC settings in the UAG admin config.

MDT speed and scalability (real-world)

I've read that there is no real limit to concurrent multi-cast image deployment, other than, eventually, the MDT server and network hardware, however, I'm hoping to hear from forum members regarding their real-world experience with the number of images they've successfully deployed concurrently, noting the MDT server specs (physical or virtual), size of the image and network speed (100Mb or GbE), and how long it took to deploy the image.

I need to provide an estimate to management along with the cost of hardware to support image deployment, hence the question.  Thanks!

Reply:

Unicast deployments from a single deployment server normal works up to 55 - 60 images at the same time. Then the server, and/or the network dies.

If you do multicast deployments you can do a few hundred from a single box, but the PXE boot will take very long time, and you can't really pxe that many clients at the same time either (the PXE part, when downloading the boot image, is not multicast).

I know that Microsoft has a few customers deploying up to 1000 machines using multicast, but I have not being remotely close to that number myself.

For deployment servers it's key with a somewhat fast disk, memory for caching, and of course good network card(s).

Most companys never deploy more than 25 machines at the exactly the same time, and about any deployment server will manage that.

Is there a file named MEMORY.DMP under c:\windows? If yes then zip it and upload it.

Do you have free disk space? If no then free some space for generation of dump files.

Another possible cause for non-generation of dump files is that there is a hardware issue. If it is the case, I would recommend contacting your manufacturer Technical Support for more diagnosis.

How to manage remote file shares via Opalis

I am creating a workflow to automate our account termination process.  I have most of it working but the portion that handles the terminated employees home drive.  I need to:

1.  Locate the home drive on the clustered file server (there are 11 different home shares)

2.  Remove the current share on the folder

3.  Grant the manager modify rights on the folder

4.  Rename the folder to include todays date

5.  Share it back out with the new name.

Anyone have any good recommendations on how to handle an issue like that?

Thanks,

User Admin tool, which is not user admin tool...

Hi,

Anybody knows why our life has been tried to make maximum hard:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg182543.aspx

"You cannot use Lync Server Control Panel to manage users who are members of the Active Directory Domain Admins group. "

If you are domain admin you cannot manage yourself on the Control Panel. Is this really what MS's customers really want? Or is this just a reality, that even they are not able to write enough well a code which is using the PowerShell on the background ? Maybe in next version of ADUC we can modify only the users who belongs to guest group ;-D

It's just an issue with policy inheritance which means that if you try to enable a domain admin for Lync in CP it throws an error:

http://blog.unplugthepbx.com/2010/09/14/adding-domain-or-enterprise-admins-to-lync-server-2010/

You really shouldn't ever need to manage domain admins in Lync CP because a domain admin account shouldn't be used for Lync or as a users main account, it's really bad practice.

hope that clears it up

All,

So one thing that has come up a lot, is how do I re-index all of the tables in my backend FIMSynchronizationService Database.  I have compiled this document together to help understand how to accomplish this task.

How to clear the run history

All,

A while back, I provided a link to a script to show an example of how to clear the run history.  I still get a lot of questions about the Run History, and clearing it.  I have put this document together to hopefully help answer the questions about clearing the run history.

I want to know of the percentage of the records of each value among all the records of the values by day. For example, I have a table with the following data:

In this sample, there are three order statuses: Pending, Processing and Complete.

2.       Calculating the percentages.

The following statement lists the percentages of Processing and Complete statuses each day.

SELECT CONVERT(VARCHAR,OrderDate,101) AS 'OrderDate',

       COUNT(OrderID) AS 'OrderQuantities',

       CONVERT(DECIMAL(10,2),100 * CONVERT(DECIMAL(10,2),SUM(CASE OrderStatus

                                                               WHEN 'Pending'

                                                               THEN 1

                                                               ELSE 0

                                                             END)) / COUNT(OrderID)) AS 'Pending(%)',

       CONVERT(DECIMAL(10,2),100 * CONVERT(DECIMAL(10,2),SUM(CASE OrderStatus

                                                               WHEN 'Processing'

                                                               THEN 1

                                                               ELSE 0

                                                             END)) / COUNT(OrderID)) AS 'Processing(%)',

       CONVERT(DECIMAL(10,2),100 * CONVERT(DECIMAL(10,2),SUM(CASE OrderStatus

                                                               WHEN 'Complete'

                                                               THEN 1

                                                               ELSE 0

                                                             END)) / COUNT(OrderID)) AS 'Complete(%)'

FROM Orders

GROUP BY CONVERT(VARCHAR,OrderDate,101)

Here is the result set:

OrderDate    OrderQuantities  Pending(%)   Processing(%)   Complete(%)

------------ ---------------- ------------ --------------- ------------

11/28/2009   5                20.00        20.00           60.00

11/29/2009   7                42.86        57.14           0.00

Another way:

  SELECT Date, Total as Quantities ,convert(decimal(10,2),Pending*100.0/(Total)) as 'Pending(%)' ,convert(decimal(10,2),Processing*100.0/(Total)) as 'Processing(%)' ,convert(decimal(10,2),Complete*100.0/(Total)) as 'Complete(%)' FROM( SELECT Date, Pending,Processing,Complete, Pending+Processing+Complete Total FROM(SELECT OrderID, Orderstatus, convert(varchar(10),orderdate,101) Date FROM orders) T PIVOT(count(OrderID) FOR Orderstatus IN ([Pending],[Processing],[Complete])) P ) TT

Generate summary of outlook pst file

I think I saw a posting similar to my question though I could not find it with search.  I am migrating my pst files from Outlook 2007 to Outlook 2010 on a new system and I would like to list the contents (number of folders, calendar, items, tasks..) of the pst file in both versions of outlook to make sure the file is being read properly.

P.S. On a somewhat related question, should I run a cleanup program of some sort on the PST prior to migration?

Hello,
Thank you for post here.
You may use some add-ons to achieve your goal, like Xobni Free.
Also, we can also check if the transfer is completely by the data file size.

You can try incompatibility mode but I doubt it would work or you can save yourself allot of time and aggravation and download either firefox or google chrome.

Ask them?  (Both Bb and your school.)

Almost a year ago people were speculating that a fix would be coming and some saying that Compatibility View was working for them anyway

Now the only definitive statement I see to contradict the information given there is

"Chrome is currently not certified"   <LOL/>

SSO to Office 365 from on premise LDAP

Hi,

as far as I know, Office 365 allows to federate with AD on premises via MFG online, so we can have a SSO experience.

Is it possible to federate with other SAML v2 identity providers? What do I need to provide SSO from my LDAP on premise with Office 365?

Thanks!

BS

Hi BS,

I hope you're well.

The short answer is 'not yet'.  I understand that Microsoft are including scope for other federated services as the O365 platform has been tested and has proven itself as scalable and reliable.  I do know that by Q4 CY11 we can expect to see some annoucements around increased capability.

Other information I have is 'NDA' material however I am confident that the announcement in Q4 will satisfy your enquiry.

I hope this helps.

All the best,

Matt.

Thanks
