Unable to open control panel

Hi guys,

I'm using Vista Home Premium. I have problem where suddenly I can't open control panel. When I opened control panel, it just blink for a sec and after that nothing came out. Then I found that I couldn't access system properties, personalized, updates, and microsoft games (like minesweeper). Even I lost my aero interface as well as windows flip 3d ( and maybe more)..

I came across lots of forum suggesting some solutions:

1) using sfc/scannow. This can be done by running cmd.exe as administrator. In my case, no problem was reported n it didn't solve my problem at all.

2) checking Software Licensing and SL UI Notification from services.msc. This can be done by running cmd.exe as admin and type services.msc. Stop software licensing and sl ui notification and restart again. Most people said that this solve their problem temporarily, not permanent. And in my case, it still didn't work.

3) some suggest to download update from windows. But I can't install it as it stated the update doesn't apply to ur system. Maybe because I'm using SP1 or maybe it is not meant for my system.

4) use system restore to restore back.

However, I found solution for this, permanently. Hope this help u guys out there.

What I did is, uninstall SP1 (KB936330). Because I can't access control panel, so I need to boot in safe mode. You guys should how to boot in safe mode. Just restart the computer and press F8 before it load windows. Then from there, uninstall sp1, given by code KB936330 (from view install updates). Assume that control panel is accessible in safe mode. like in my case.

Then after finish, everything fix like a normal. You can install it back if u want to. For those who didn't install sp1, u can try to install it and see whether it solve your problem. Let others know if it works. I know that I have no right to give any suggestion, but I just want to share this because no permanent solution given for this problem.

MS lack of support after hours.

I have an HP zv5000 laptop, running an Intel P4- 2.8 Ghz processor, with 2 gig of memory, and an hdd that was only 20% full. I have been running  XP-SP2  with all released  patches,  IE7 same patch scenario with auto patch enabled. I have not added any new software in many weeks, my ISP is from Verizon using a pcmcia wireless 5740 card. This configuration has been stable for months, then breaking the "don't fix it if it's not broken" adage, I downloaded SP3-RC2. The download seemed uneventful, albeit long, but with no error msgs. downloading, completing with the message "cleanup in progress", followed by a "you must now re-boot to complete the installation" mag. What followed was a seemingly normal start to a re-boot with my machine asking for my Power Up Password. I entered the PW and the machine went into an obvious error induced re-boot loop. I was able to stop the machine using F-8 and tried each option(one at a time) to either get into safe mode, re-boot to last known good configuration, etc, no option would work. The only thing I learned was the error code was C0000139 and the msg. no entry avaible into GDI32.dll. But, I was not able to get enough code loaded or into a state to do a restore or copy. I am on a trip away from my home, ergo I had no access to another computer (in my motel) only critical software on 2 thumb drives. I called MS and was transfered to India, or Bangladesh, or somewhere they spoke what can best be described as, "pigeon"  English.  I was transfered several times, to different "Techs(?)". Each time asking either redundant, or inane questions, most of which were not understandable, by either them or myself. They had no clue as to what to do other than rebuild my hard disk, this option I didn't need a $100.00 charge to complete. After the 3rd or 4th dropped call, I resigned myself to rebuilding my hard disk. This was after a couple of hours repeating the same answers  to inane questions. If this is the harbinger of MS's Bill Gates answer to help users, I will be switching to Linux ASAP. This comment is written on the same computer, the foreigners suggested was broken, using XP-SP2, and IE7 rebuilt overnight, with no help from MS representatives. I was for many years, a Microsoft apologist, but no longer will I try to defend the indefensible. Should I have done a Google search on SP3 before downloading it, YES!  But, there was no HP or laptop entries listed, (after rebuilding and searching)  that I would not have thought I could work around. Even watching the down load closely, for a checksum or any error, would have given me pause to stop, in time from losing so much data. So let this be a warning or caveat, that a degree in CS will not save you from MS.

Pete7973,

May I ask? Why did you installed SP3 while you're traveling on a trip away from home or inside the motel? Business trip?

On the Forums landing page, the wording "last reply by" is misleading.
Sometimes the last activity was a NEW Post -NOT a reply.

Perhaps change the wording to "last activity by " or "last post by "

DCPROMO fails

We recieved our volume licensed versions of 2008 Server and I went to work installing Standard Edition right away. Things look nice but when I run dcpromo to create our AD I get "Active directory domain services wizard is not supported on this SKU". That's nice but what does it mean? Not a full version? Basically I have a server I cant really use for our new AD.

The role is installed, in fact the only role not being used is IIS.

Error handling in Exchange Web Services

I am curious how developers using EWS feel about the error handling mechanism we provided. Granted, it comes with its own set of issues, just from the fact that requests can be batched and therefore a response can contain multiple results.  Just some questions:

1. Do you make any programmatic decisions based on the ResponseCode enumeration value in the response or do you treat all errors the same?

2. Do you tend to check for a ResponseClass of success or a ResponseCode of NoError.  Is having both confusing?

3. For those programming against the proxy, did you know that you can encounter SoapExceptions in a couple of cases?  If so, are you explicitly catching the exception?

4. Did you know that in some cases the MessageXml element of a failure response contains information such as the property path of the offending property, or the correct primary smtp address to use if you supplied a non-primary smtp proxy address?  Did you know that in some cases the detail element of a soap fault also contains this same MessageXml element?

5. Did you know that it is possible to encounter schema violation errors even when coding against the autogenerated proxies?

6. Does anyone MANUALLY look at the wsdl or xsd files to figure out how to talk to EWS or do you only rely on the autogenerated proxies?

7. Do you feel comfortable using the XML DOM and/or XPath queries to navigate through arbitrary XML?

Thanks for any info you may provide. Our goal is certainly to improve your developer experience Smile

Thanks

We're going to try and use the WCF flavor of the Exchange Web Services for a product that we are currently developing.  We're running into a major lack of documentation for this interface and how to use it.  Can you give/send any pointers our way?  Beta docs?  Something?  Otherwise we'll be forced to go back to the .Net web services.

Are you using VS 2008?  If so, then adding a web reference in the IDE will automatically generate a WCF proxy.  As you suggest, there are some subtle differences between the .net web service proxies (generated by wsdl.exe) and the WCF generated ones.  I will see if I can throw together a document on using WCF generated proxies to talk to EWS.  Might be a bit before I get to it though.

Note that there are some good general-purpose books on WCF and building client proxies:

Email ListServer mode

One of the downsides of both the Newsgroups and the new Forums is that they are 'pull' applications, ie you have to go to them to see the posts.

An Email ListServer is a 'push' application, where the posts are sent without any need to go anywhere to get them. This can be much easier to use for busy people who can filter as appropriate and answer any they have an interest in.

How about having the option on the forum to have all posts sent to you in a similar way. There could be an option to see original posts only, not replies.

Thanks for the feedback Ian, and good talking to you in person yesterday. I've added this to our list of suggestions to consider as we start planning our next major release. As Sam mentioned, we'll need to consider how we improve RSS as well, and make sure we're not solving the same need. Just reading all posts from a forum, is pretty similar to RSS, but if you had the ability to reply and post back to the forum from email, that would be different. I'm not sure what the technical limitations are here, but this is definitely a request we've heard from quite a few people. We'll keep thinking about it.

Better design for threadlist page

I think the design of the thread-list page could be improved aesthetically -- for example:

  • Have the thread's date in a separate column in the list, with shorter notation, so that all the last post dates are nicely aligned, as opposed to all over the place. Have a look at vBulletin's design for a good, clean example of what I mean: http://forums.cgsociety.org/forumdisplay.php?f=59 (that forum uses a modified vBulletin).
  • Simplify the information presented -- for example, instead of writing "last reply by Some User on Tuesday, 8 April 2008 9:36:29 AM" which is extremely long and annoying to read, just have a separate column called "Last Reply", list the date and time, the username, and a little icon to take you to the last post, similar to how the aforementioned link does it. That way you're not repeating the same information for each thread ("last reply by <someone> on <some date>"), but have a nice table layout with a list of last replies in each row.
  • Maybe remove the "(preview)" text, and replace it with a column containing a preview Icon image that users can click on -- perhaps re-use the same one the post editor uses, for familiarity. That'll save space and make it easier for people to track where the preview button is, since it will always be on the same horizontal place, as opposed to after the thread's title, which varies in length.
A general aesthetic suggestion for the entire forum is to also revise the sizes of fonts. Putting a really large font next to a really small font is a bit ugly -- try to get them a bit more visually appealing. Again, have a look at the previous link for rough ideas.

Key points to take away: Improve consistency, both for font sizes, and for page layout (by grouping similar things in rows in a table).

We originally found that we didn't want to have columns for the dates as they took up a lot of real estate.  But it's something we could consider.

About the Preview text that is going away instead we'll have an arrow to the left of the title to expand/collapse, we're also making the title lines "hot" so you can expand/collapse that way.

We'll also have a "close" at the bottom as that's been requested by many folks.  This work just got checked in yesterday in fact.

Clustering hyper-V and the disapearing network

hello all, I hope someone can benefit from the 16+ hours it took me to troubleshoot and fix this problem:

I set up a two node cluster and installed hyper-v with a virtual copy of Win 2k8 Ent (which will someday run SQL 2005).  The virtual machine moves between the two machines fine, except every time it does, it loses network access.  It looks like it will work, as it still thinks it has an IP address (and DNS, and Wins), but it cannot connect out.  When I try to ping our gateway, it's own network IP comes back with: destination host unreachable.  When I try to ping a non-IP, it appears that it cannot connect to the DNS server either.  When I fail it back to the first machine that it was working on originally, it does not work.  When I look at the hyper-v settings, it now says that it is "not connected" to the virtual adapter at all.  If I assign it the virtual adapter that it was assigned to before, it starts working great again.

Here is how I solved it after 16+ hours of searching and experimenting:

Even though the Clustered VM machine config says it is on the "shared" drive location with the VHDD, hypervisor doesn't see that, and it still uses the Default config area on each hypervisor machine.  (Default is somewhere on the C: drive)  Once I changed the location from the C: drive to the V: drive (where my shared storage was) it worked great.

Hey Microsoft, hyper-v isn't listening to the configuration settings.

Thanks for the forums too, they are a great resource!

Have you made sure that your virtual networks are identically named on both hosts? (capitolization and all).

Oh, and an easy way to move a VM to a shared volume and have it ready to go for clustering is to use the export function to copy it to the shared volume, then import it (attach to it and run it from that location), and then tag it as a failover workload in Failover Management.

The export function reconfigures the virtual machine and brings all of its bits together to run from one folder - so if you forgot to modify the config location for the VM when you created it, to point it to the same location as the VM..you can use export / import to fix it up.

(just another way to use an existing function to our advantage)

------------------------------------
Reply:

That is a great idea... all the step-by-step hyper-v clustering instructions I read did not include that.  I was wondering what that function did.

And I am pretty darn sure that my network names were the same when I tried it.  When I set up production I will give your idea a shot.

Thanks for the reply, now someone who is searching for the answer will have an even better way to do it!

--Bryan

------------------------------------
Reply:

I think there are two issues here:

1. When you create a VM with the intent of making it highly available, the VM configuration (as well as the VHD) needs to reside on the shared storage.

2. When you move a VM from one node to another, each host has to have identically named virtual networks.

Both of these items will be fully documented as we get closer to Hyper-V RTM.

------------------------------------
Reply:

According to hyper-v and the Failover cluster GUI, it WAS looking at my V: drive for the configuration, even though it really didn't.  All I did was change the "default" values in hyper-v (from C: to V: ) and it worked.

And to answer the previous question, even if my network names were not the same, it should have worked when it went back to the orignal machine, but it did not.

I wish there was a way to post screenshots in this forum... Is there?

Thanks,

Why is SP Designer so unstable?

I have had it to here!

I have been using SP Designer for the past 2 weeks and I can say without any doubt whatsoever that
it is the most unstable, unuserfriendly piece of rubbish I have ever used even beyond the borders open source stuff.

PS. I have installed SP1 for those of you who were going to reccomend thatSmile

Our company is a MS partner so all the tools, technology etc. is MS based. And for the record I think they did
an awesome job with VS2005 and 2008. It's stable and it just gets better with every release.

But SP Designer has been THE worst experience of my entire life, and I have had some frustrating moments.

Firstly when I import an image file for instance, I have to manually tyoe the location where I want to import the file.
WHY???? Have you people never heard of using a dialogue box or did you forget that you could actually use it?

Secondly, the source control makes me want to put my fist through my LCD. After working with MS-TFS as source control
I can safely say that SP Designer's source control is useless. It's safer for me to copy my code into other files outside of
the Designer rather than using the source control. Oh, and don't even try to revert to a previous version of say a customized master page. Initially it looks as if it is reverting to the previous version but ultimately zero/nothing/*nasty word happens???

Thirdly, touching the property grid is as good as playing russion roulet. It's only a matter of time before it screws things
up indefinitely. I much rather manually edit properties on controls as that is the safest. ALSO the property bag doesn't
correctly reflect on the markup. I'm looking at properties on the code itself as I write this, but for some reason the property bag doen't even show that these properties already have values.

Lastly there are a horde of other "little" quirks that really gets my blood boiling but the ones mentioned are the ones that
cripples anyone's productivity.

Honestly did MS do any QA on this product at all???

Reply:
Hi,

I share your frustration with this product. SPD can be extremely annoying at times, especially when it decides to not let you check-in files because "you do not have the file checked out", when you clearly do. Now I just check-in files via the Manage Content and Structure interface. It also sometimes does not let you check-out a file, even when its not checked out by anyone.

I have also experienced issues with authentication, and I dislike that the code editor has a different 'feel' to VS.

I guess we'll just have to wait for the next version Stick out tongue

Licensing / How to buy

Hi,

first of all I have to say that we are very excited about this new enterprise supporting product. Especially after testing Beta2 intensively. We have about 30 VirtuslServer hosts with about 150 VMs and desperately need something like SCVMM for administration. So it is good news that it is finally released.

So far so good. But now I got the bad news right in the gushing release announcement

Why for heaven's sake do they only offer a System Center Management Suite for the entprise customers

We do not need all this additional tools (System Center Configuration Manager 2007, System Center Operations Manager 2007 and System Center Data Protection Manager 2007) because we already use enterprise compliant tools for these tasks for years and don't want to migrate and even don't want to pay for software components we will not use. And it is some kind of black humor that Chris Stirrat writes right in the next paragraph: "SCVMM is stand-alone and does not require the other System Center tools in order to run." So why bundling ... I know why, but I do not want to commit myself to this kind of marketing practice. Even I can not "sell" this internally given the fact that we also run VMware ESX which has this kind of management tool out-of-the-box.

Conclusion: The MS virtual environment will die in my enterprise because "it is not administrable for so many hosts and VMs in the long run". Or we can get SCVMM in a "Server and CAL" way, means we can buy one SCMM server license and a CAL for every VirtualServer host we want to administer.

Annoyed Regards

Carsten

Carsten, thanks for your question.

Edwin Yuen,  Technical Product Manager - Virtual Machine Manager replies:

We know that large customers are virtualizing their data centers, and customers asked us for a systems management offering that takes into account large-scale virtualization. We designed the Server Management Suite Enterprise for larger customers as a single, competitively-priced offering to provide broad, end-to-end server and application management across both physical and virtualized server environments.  For example, this would be the ideal choice for a customer with 50 host servers with an average of 10 virtual machines per host because they would only need 50 Server Management Suite Enterprise licenses, rather than individual licenses for each host server and for each virtual machine (equaling approximately 1,500 licenses, which is a 1400% increase in cost).  Additionally, customers will be able to use VMM without being required to purchase additional licenses as they scale up the number of virtual machines per host server.  We will also offer a standalone version of VMM in January, called System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2007 Workgroup Edition, which will manager up to 5 virtual server host for each VMM installation.

------------------------------------
Reply:

I am one of the large customers and MS asked me in April in special Q&A session in Munich what our plans and needs for virtualization are. One important point is, you are right, we need enterprise-aware management tools. And I agree that SCVMM is a step into the very right direction. The same, probably, with the other SystemCenter products, but for their tasks we already have tools.

The point I criticize is not the prize. I even did not realized the number behind the $ sign. The point I am mad about is the forced bundling of SCVMM into this Server Management Suite and the lack of possibility to buy this product standalone (beside the workgroup edition which is much to small for us). I want to buy SCVMM as a standalone license because I only want to use SCVMM. In your example you say I only have to buy 50 Enterprise Suite licenses, but all I need and want are 50 SCVMM licenses (assuming I have 50 VirtualServer hosts). Why paying for four tools if I only need one .... that's 75% increase in cost. I don't want to be forced to buy something I don't need from the technical point of view. And the benefits you are describing:

they would only need 50 Server Management Suite Enterprise licenses, rather than individual licenses for each host server

Wrong! If I buy 50 licenses for 50 servers than I buy one for each server, regardless what I buy. 50 licenses for 50 machines.

customers will be able to use VMM without being required to purchase additional licenses as they scale up the number of virtual machines per host server

Funny! I have to pay for something I do not need (3 out of 4 in the Suite) at the beginning and than it is a benefit for me that the number of VMs running on the hosts is unlimited ... how generous *lol*

Again the conclusion: I need a centralized management tool for my MS VirtualServer environment (30 hosts, about 150 VMs). Without something like SCVMM it's not usable in the long run. So we have two possibilities: I can buy SCVMM as a standalone solution (not possible at the moment) or I migrate the VMs to an environment which includes an appropiate management solution and stop all development for MS virtualization solutions (even cancelling the Viridian TAP) in my enterprise.

Regards

Carsten

I fully agree with the frustrated user, as I am in the same boat.

We do not have the budget this year (even if we wanted) to purchase Server Management Suite Enterprise licenses for all our hosts.

There needs to be some middle ground between the workgroup edition and the Server Management Suite Enterprise licenses

Hp Laserjet 4L - intermittent and no recognition

Dear colleagues,

Just introducing a Vista PC and trying to use my old HP Laserjet 4L with a parallel to USB adapter cable.

Initially Vista found and installed the driver without problems - and I have actually used the printer, so everything works, in principle. However when re-booting or re-connecting, Vista sees the device the device attached to the USB port, but cannot recognise and doesn't know what to do.

Query: is there any way one can prompt Vista with the device name?

At the moment I am one step further backwards since I have removed the driver (via the printer window), so now I cannot re-install the driver since Vista does not know what driver  to install. The driver still exists since the original connection to teh rpinter over the network to my old PC is shown.

Your help on both would be appreciated, please.

It sounds like you have tried all of the normally available recovery options that Vista provides.

Since this is likely a system that came pre-installed with Vista, I suggest you contact Dell to check on your recovery options. The manufacturer of the system can install and configure many different recovery options, and these will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and system to system.

This will not help with this problem, but Vista does provide ways to install legacy software that is not compatible with Vista, but this must be configured at the time the software is installed. You simply right click the installation programs file and select Properties/Compatibility Tab. You will see options there to use XP, Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows 98, and even Windows 95 compatible mode.

Good Luck.

sp_helprotect error if no matching rows

Why does sp_helprotect throw an error if there are no special security permissions for a specified @username?  Why not simply return a blank resultset?  This makes the procedure a hassle to use when trying to capture results into a table as part of another stored procedure (use it for auditing).

[Edited]The same problem occurs when I execute xp_logininfo to get the list of members for a group that has no members.  Instead of just passing back some sort of status, the procedure blows up and keeps me from scripting the procedure.

Am I just missing something?

Brandon

This is the historical behavior of the sp_helprotect procedure. I assume you are referring to error 15330.

Note that if you are using SQL Server 2005, you should use the new permissions catalog instead of this procedure: sys.database_permissions.

This is good to know.  We are only just starting to use SQL 2005.  In fact, I accidentally posted my question here instead of the old newsgroups

Does SQL 2005 have a way to get NT group members similar (or better than) xp_logininfo?  This exhibits the same problem.

Thanks!

Brandon

You can use xp_logininfo and TRY/CATCH to handle the exception or you can write a CLR procedure to give you the same information. I expect the xp_logininfo behavior is also unchanged from SQL Server 2000.

One possible way around this would be to make a check first, in the following manner.

if exists (select * from sysprotects where id = object_id(@objectname))

This will take care of the "general case" where you do "exec sp_helprotect @objectname" without specifying a username or any other parameter that would limit the results. If it fails this existence test you could either skip it or insert a dummy row saying 'None'. The good thing about this is that you don't have to interpret the other columns of sysprotects, you just have to see if there are any rows for that object.

Please note that if you are putting in additional parameters to sp_helprotect you will need to refine the above test, or you could still get the "no matching rows" error. If you collect all permissions by only using the @objectname parameter, you can easily get the specific data you want from the end result.

I get the error when running:

USE dbName;
EXEC sp_helprotect NULL, 'dbRole';

Msg 15330, Level 11, State 1, Procedure sp_helprotect, Line 346
There are no matching rows on which to report.

I dissected the code in sysprotects and here is how to check whether permissions for a db role exist, so that the code does not crash with the error:

USE dbName;
IF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM sysprotects WHERE user_name(sysp.uid) = 'dbRole')
    EXEC sp_helprotect NULL, 'dbRole';

Alter Login fails when login changes his own password

I have seen alot of comments posted about an Issue in SQL2005 that no one at microsoft could really answer.  If a user would try to alter his own login, it would fail stating a permissions error.

This is what I did to get it to work .

USE my_dataBase

GO

Alter Login [my_login] WITH PASSWORD = 'newpassword' OLD_PASSWORD = 'oldpassword'

In previous examples, people were trying to do an alter login without first narrowing it to the database.

If you do not include the USE statement it will fail.

Another thing to note is that they can only change certain things....they cannot turn off check_policy or check_expiration.

Happy Coding

The login should have proper permissions to change his/her own password, but not enough permissions for any administrative task such as password reset or change the password policy on the login; this is the designed behavior.

I would like to understand what is the exact error you are seeing when trying to change the password, and also I would like to know if the login is indeed a SQL login (i.e. SELECT type_desc FROM sys.server_principals WHERE sid = suser_sid( 'login_name' ) returns SQL_LOGIN) and if the OLD_PASSWORD parameter is correct (The call will fail if you provide the incorrect OLD_PASSWORD parameter). I am guessing you are referring to error Msg 15151, Level 16, but I would need to confirm if this is indeed the case.

BTW. Changing to a user defined database should not have any side effect while changing the password. Please let us know if you have noticed a different behavior.

The USE DATABASE portion is not required.

Any user can change his own login password but you do need to specify the old_password parameter. If a user with higher level privileges (e.g. admin, contol, etc...) wants to change the password for another user, he only needs to specify the new password.

Think along the lines of changing windows user passwords. If you want to change your own (e.g. CTRL-ALT-DEL, Change Password), you will need to provide your old password to verify that you are indeed you. However, if you are an admin and want to change another user's password, you would set that user's password to the new password without having to provide the old. This is to ensure you never need to know another user's password plus your "action" goes through security verification to ensure you are allowed to perform the task so it's not just blind execution.

If you are referring to thread from the MSFN.org, then go back to that thread, the user corrected themselves. They were refering to build 3311, not 5511.

rumors are almost RARELY true.  most of the time, I do NOT believe them.

I did check out build 5508 of xp sp3.  I noticed the hdaudio.inf & hdaudio.sys file are on there.  But the hdaprop.dll, hdashcut.exe, hdaudio.inf, hdaudio.sys & hdaudres.dll files are missing.  Will these missing files be included in the final release of XP SP3?  I want to be sure that XP SP3 will have FULL support for HD audio, not "partial" support.

------------------------------------
Reply:

hdaudio.sys is the bus driver for HD Audio bus. It has been included in SP3, and installation of any sound card driver pack would install the device successfully.

The support for HD audio has been enabled and third party driver packs are anyways required.

Thanks

Hi Smile

Is your computer domain-joined? What steps did you take to setup the connection, when did you see the error and what did you do just before it appeared?

Conexant HDA (high definition audio)

Hi people here,

take a look at this issue in my site www.motor2t.net.

I think it´s time to us fight against this defective piece of hardware, the Conexant HDA.

Hello,

Following, the contents of the website,www.motor2t.net, concerning this issue.
Unhapilly I have to blame INTEL for selling a defectice audio in its 945 chipset.

Recently I receive an email of someone that bought an HP Notebook US$1800 in Brasil, with NO AUDIO.

I feel myself obliged to spread this warning to consumers.

CONEXANT HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO

Are you in trouble with this hardware? Here´s the solution I´ve found, using an HP Notebook line 6000.

Follow these steps, at your own risk. Be shure you are enough skilled to do it.

Go to HP´s web site and download/install these drivers, in this case to Windows XP.

Firstly:Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio (sp32646)

Secondly:ConexantHigh Definition Audio Driver

Restart your computer and your audio probably will be now OK for basic purposes. If not you´d better make a backup of your system and format/recover the system back, according to the manufacturer´s instructions. Then, repeat the first and second steps.

However,if you have a professional Midi/Audio software the sound will probably be bad.If it happens, go to the site www.asio4all.com download the ASIO drive and install it. In your Midi/audio software set the audio driver to ASIO. That´s it, in my case the result was a magnificent sound.

Good luck. The Trademarks and Sites here are properties of the owners.

The instructions on this page are just a "half solution" to the problem, since the new chipsets with HDA (High Definition Audio) work very well. It can be concluded that the Intel 945 Chipset and variants that use the Conexant High Definition Audio has some kind of defect. There are not until now a real solution nor from Intel neither from Conexant. The problem exists in XP and it seems that extends to Vista. This configure as a need of a Worlwide RECALL of computers with such a device. This text was translated to English with the aid of Google Translator.
