Web Access 2010 Requery based off of ComboBox
I have a combobox that updates a query and changes a report I am outputting. The combobox updates the query fine on Access 2010. When I bring it to the Sharepoint site, it no longer works. It says I have a invalid reference. I could use some help on how to fix this.
Thanks!

Content Access Account in Search
Hi All,
Well we have configured a search server, everything is fine but when we try to initiate the crawl,it gets stopped and we get following error in crawl log.
"Search couldn't access the resource as the password is changed. Please reset the password and try again"
though all necessary precautions have been taken in terms of the content access account.
Immediate help would be highly appreciated.
Reply:
You need to update the service account password. Refer http://blogs.technet.com/b/seanearp/archive/2011/01/25/updating-passwords-on-sharepoint-2010.aspx

Thanks for the reply.
But i have changed the password several times, just the crawl says "starting" and then goes "idle".
------------------------------------
Reply:
Hi.
Did you checge the password in the 'Default content access account' setting in Search Administration to mirror the new password? This is what crawl uses to access content, if the account password has changed then you will have to change the password here as well.

Hi.
If you have any special characters in the password, try to have a password without the spacial characters and see if it works then. Not at all sure that this is the problem but I have had problems with too complex pasword, secure but if complex in the wrong way, not compatible.
Try it at least.

Hi again. More things to try...that should help either solve it or narrow down what the issue is.
Error: Item was not crawled because of a password change. Update password and retry crawling.
-Verify that the Search Server user account has permission to read and write to the content database.
-Make sure that the domain accounts used for Search and for Crawling are not disabled or set to 'Require password change at first logon'
-You can also check the accounts by trying to run something under that ID/PWD, such as Notepad. Simply hold shift down when you right click on a shortcut to notepad and select "Run as Different User" and then enter the credentials. If there is a problem with the accounts themselves, this should show you what it is.
-If the above works properly then you might need to make sure that your crawl account has Read permissions to the site in the Web Application Policy in Central Admin
Good luck

Help trying to get FIM 2010 DL management to work
Hello,
I am trying to get a basic demo of FIM doing Exchange self service DL management working and it's just not playing.
I have built the servers as per the FIM instructions below, I have the FIM portal all working and can go in and now create a DL, but whilst it does say the DL has been completed groups are not getting created in AD, nor being stamped by Exchange (FIM has E2010 tools installed)
I have the FIMMA and the ADMA in and the only error I am getting going through the sync is during the FIMMA export where I get this below:
Is it this process when you export from FIM it then goes to create the group in AD and then then mail-enabled the object in Exchange?

Confirm you have the Sync Rule, the group object has the ERE and the Enable Provision from Sync is enabled in Tools, Options.
Your screen shot was of a Export to the FIM MA. A view of a Sync from the FIM MA would be better. Also, an export on the AD MA.

I only have inbound sync rule from AD in FIM Portal, there's nothing in the instructions about creating an export to AD? Here are some more screenshots though, but I do have the Enable Provision Sync in Tools/Options.

Can someone confirm that the instructions here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee534915(v=ws.10).aspx are sufficient to set-up a self service DL management demo?
It appears to be missing these export steps back to AD?

You don't seem to have any exports to ADDS in your run profiles, as you noticed yourself.

Right, following the above article I can now get FIM provisioning DL's to AD/Exchange. You do need to add the mailnickname as an additional attribute otherwise the update-recipient command wont work, but at least we're almost there.
I now have 2 new issues:
1.) FIM isn't adding anyone to the DL. Do I need to have inbound sync rule for FIM to be able to do this?
2.) I get the following error when attempting to modify/delete the objects? failed-creation-via-web-services/MembershipLocked/An attribute is required to complete the operation.<

Why can't there be a simple how to guide to get self service DL's working, you have to piece together 3 or 4 articles, all with some form typo or error with the end result that nothing works :(
For something that is such a big selling point for FIM, a simple step by step procedure would surely be warranted? Has anybody seen one, I'd even buy it!

Excerpt from another W8 tech forum & fine here, too
2ndly, when the Start-up settings are changed such that boot goes directly to Desktop, the "damn the (Metro) Start screen" bit, really doesn't have much clout or strength, @ all.
3rd, will avow it is strictly & solely a matter of attitude... I have (not counting months w/ the DP) running Windows 8 BETA for ONLY 5 days:
There is no issue not having the old Start Menu... there just isn't! I even grabbed a 3rd party one, after about 2 days, just curious... after a few minutes it was uninstalled due to being a distracting, unnecessary nuisance. It is so slick, quick, easy & pleasing, almost fun to fly around finding, getting to & doing things. It's actually very intuitive & User Friendly. And very little moussing.
There is no need or craving for Touch & it, certainly, is not required.
Kids will love it & I hear reports older folks are taking to it well, also. I'm 59 & it took little time, no horrid effort or caused great stress. In fact, it's made me smile & laugh, more than a few times. As in, "Oh, that's so cool" grin, chuckle.
You Pin things, enable Quick Launch, learn & use Keyboard Shortcuts... using Win8 is a joy.
And the above is w/out even, yet, mentioning anything about performance. That came pretty much be summed up in a word... WOW!!
and, of course, the CP is a beta, so was the DP & this like will not be the only beta... even the RC is beta. Nothing is non-beta 'til RTM, OEM & GA... around Sept/Oct, maybe.
My private notion... w/out having a chip on one's shoulder, being mules about going forward, listen to ppl who are using it, try it yourself but, w/ an open mind, even a sense of adventure. Take the tips & 'tricks' & travels through this OS of others to expedite, facilitate & guide your enthusiastic journey.
& lastly to repeat this again... NO, it's not like the DP. We knew it would not be. But, the difference is that the Beta is far superior to the DP. Galaxies ahead of & beyond the DP; and on that note I, for one, can't wait to see what comes next...

With integrated mode you can use SSRS content types in your document libraries, reports are stored in content databases, you can use sharepoint versioning and security http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb326345.aspx

if you ant BizTalk to process any files with the biz word inside the filename.

you can achieve it using the File Masking that is to be done in the console.
as shown below, create a receive port, then create receive location and in the configuration you can add the file mask as shown below.

Hi Manoj,
As explained by other members above, You could do this by using the file mask in receive lcoation. However if you only want to pick biz.xml and sqlbiz.xml not anything like abcbiz.xml then you would need to decide the proper filter on the mask property.
As my my understanding you could use only one mask in the receive port.
If you use *biz.xml then it could pic anything which ends with biz.xml it may have abcbiz.xml also. However if you are sure that you would have only biz.xml or sqlbiz.xml files in the folder then i guess your *biz.xml will work.
It would be worth reading this "Restrictions on the File Mask and File Name Properties" msdn article for more details.
I hope it helps!

Cannot load web service in my workstation of the reporting services which is integrated to sharepoint 2010
Our SSRS site is SSRS 2008 R2 integrated to SharePoint 2010. We can successfully load the web servicve URL (https://<OurSSRSEnvironment>/ReportServer) in any of the servers part of the farm, but when we access the same web service URL in our workstation/laptop, I am prompted to provide my domain credentials. right after providing my credentials, it only gives me a blank "white" page.
Similarly, when I press f5 of my browser, I am re-prompted to provide credentials and after doing so, only giving me a white "blank" page.
Is this a known issue? or is there something we can do to make this work.
Your immediate response is highly appreciated.
The following information could probably help:
1) we have two reporting services servers configured with the ff:
a) the ssrs site is https://<OurSSRSEnvironment>/Reports.
b) the ssrs web service is https://<OurSSRSEnvironment>/ReportServer
2) we have separate two sharepoint servers under the same farm of reporting services web servers with the ff:
a) necessary software configured to the previously stated ssrs environment.
b) the site configured (ssrs int to sharepoint) is https://<OurSSRSIntSharePoint>.
3) a database server (same farm) for holding both report server database and content database.[Suggestion] mstsc.exe idle when minimized
With the mstsc.exe window minimized, there's a difference between the CPU and GPU load when the remote desktop has windows open, or has all windows minimized (is showing the desktop).
With the mstsc.exe window minimized, the CPU and GPU load is between 2% and 90% (i3-350M) when the remote desktop has windows open and close to 0% when all its windows are minimized.
I suggest that mstsc.exe is idled when minimized regardless of the window activity in the remote desktop.
Thanks!

App Bar needs to be viewable by default, no more right-click
The app bar is hidden by default on pretty much all of the applications. I think this minimalism is taken too far. Please follow the direction of Windows Phone team. There is always clue in the WP7 to indicate that there're more options available. In fact, most of the time, the app bar on Windows Phone 7 is always visible without labels. I think the app bar on Windows 8 should be similar or identical to that of Windows Phone 7.
1. It should always be visible without the text label and with 3 ellipsis so that users can click on to see the labels (and maybe more options).
2. If it must be hidden, then there must be a thin horizontal band with 3 ellipsis to indicate that there're more options.
3. The command bar should be white icons/text on gray, white icons/text on black, or black icons/text on white. It should not be any other distracting colors. This will also make all app bars to be consistent with each other visually.
I simply DO NOT want to right-click continuously to open the app bar. Why do we must make it MORE difficult to get to the functions that we need? Please emulate the Windows Phone 7 ideas for the app bar. Take instance the Mail app's use of the app bar. To switch between the different folders within two inboxes has a crazy amounts of right-click to bring up the app bar. This is absolutely unnecessary. There's no reason why the app bar is HIDDEN by default. Why are we hiding something that's frequently used? Why do we've to right-click repeatedly to bring up the app bar. This does not make me more efficient.

I would also be happy if the app bar sticks into the "open" position if you right-click to open it once. It will only close again if I choose to do so possibly by clicking the 3 elllipsis. Microsoft has a lot of choices on making the app bar efficient. I'm afraid they're not listening simply because their instructions are showing that the user swipe up from the bottom to open the app bar. It's so annoying to having to repeated right-clicking in the Mail app.

So you need to import the module before you can use it. Try the following in powershell first.

Now you should be able to use the above cmdlet

Navigating Windows 8 with three easy keyboard shortcuts
Greetings - I've spent a few hours with the CP so far and have spent most of my time working on familiarizing myself with the navigation issues that so many people are complaining about. I'm not going to debate the usefulness or efficiency of Metro or how rough it is using a mouse with this OS - I just wanted to offer what I've found to be helpful when navigating throughout the OS.
Not really an acronym for anything, but QIX is all you really need to remember to get to anywhere you need to be in Windows 8.
Win+Q
Listed as the keyboard shortcut to search All Apps it also takes you to the screen where all your apps are listed (same as right-click anywhere in the Metro and selecting All Apps from the bottom menu). So if you're working in the desktop and need to find/launch another application, hit Win+Q and either type in the name of the software needed (a habit I got into on Windows 7) or simply click on it on the All Apps screen.
Win+I
This is most helpful when you're on the Desktop. It brings up, perhaps most importantly, a link to the Control Panel as well as your power settings. It also has a link to the System Info screen (now called PC Info), volume control, wireless/LAN and more. As far as I can tell this is the quickest way to shutdown/reboot your PC.
This shortcut doesn't offer much if you use it from the Metro and it's one of the few shortcuts that cannot be used from anywhere in the OS.
Win+X
Probably the most useful keyboard shortcut for IT Pros. It launches the same menu you get from right-clicking on the Metro/Start in the bottom-left hot corner. It pops up an old-school Windows menu with the following options.
Programs & Features, Network Connections, Power Options, Event Viewer, System, Device Manager, Comp Management, Disk Management, Command Prompt, Command Prompt as Admin, Task Manager, Control Panel, Windows Explorer, Search, Run, Desktop.
The only other navigation tip I have is using the Windows key to go from the Desktop to Metro and using Win+D to go from Metro to the Desktop.
So far I'm in the very tiny group that isn't appalled with Windows 8. Training my users on how to use it is a whole different animal though. I actually like the CP but I've always been a big keyboard guy and always use my mouse as little as possible though I realize that's the opposite of most end-users. I also realize that using Windows 8 with a mouse is a grueling chore with many more steps to do what needs to be done than any previous version of Windows. Finally, it seems like MS is being different and innovative for the sake of being different and innovative. I don't see how the Metro makes anyone's life easier but I don't find it as that big of a hindrance.

There are a lot of ways to get to stuff it's just finding them. Oddly I think this will affect pros more initially than average users because they use a broader set of functionality.
The shortcut for Explorer is easily recognized and it's already pinned so that's a good option for people used to right-clicking My Computer. Look at the Computer tab and you can see those functions. You know how you can put any function in Office 2010 on the ribbon and make your own tabs? The Explorer ribbon should be the same way so you can create tabs with all the functions and settings you commonly use. It should also be configurable via GPO.

Can you elaborate on your requirement? Are you rendering the report directly from Report Manager? The browser will by default include a vertical or horizontal scroll bars depending on the size of your report. This is via HTML viewer which is provided by SQL Server Reporting Services. It completes and fails when it boots with an unclear HAL error.
Has anyone resolved this? Or is it because its a preview?
Many thanks in advance
Bill
