Forum Account Verification and info if verified or not
Hi all,
My suggestion about Forum Account Verification and information if verified or not would be like.
On "My Profile" section under account name should be shown "verification status" like this
AccountName
(Not Verified Yet)
Ask for verification
There is to much hassle with account verification and threads about verifications. I think it's not good that someone have to search thru threads to manually verify some users accounts.
How it works now is just not like how things should work on these days. :)
Anyways, I tried to use some html code to introduce it graphically, but apparently it didn't worked on here even there is html button on top of text editor :)
Thanks

Lookup columns - unique values required?
Reply:
Hi,
You can create a calculated column - concatenate two values which can get to a unique column. And this calculated column can be used in your lookup.
Hope this helps. Thanks

Windows 10 Forum FAQ
Am I in the right place to ask my question about Windows 10?
- If you are an IT professional or if you have a question about administering, managing, or deploying Windows 10 in your organization or business, you can ask your question here in the Windows 10 IT Professional TechNet Forums.
- If you are an end-user or if you have a question about using Windows 10, your question may be better suited to the Windows 10 Microsoft Community forums. If you have a question about Windows Store, your Microsoft Account, using apps downloaded from the Windows Store, you should also ask your question at Microsoft Community.
- If you have a question about developing apps for Windows 10, your question is best suited for the MSDN Forums.
- If you have a question about Internet Explorer, you can ask your question at Internet Explorer on the TechNet Forums.
Where can I get Windows 10 Enterprise?
If you have Windows volume licenses with Software Assurance, or if you have purchased Windows 10 Enterprise volume licenses, you can download 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 10 Enterprise from the Volume Licensing Service Center. If you do not have current Software Assurance for Windows and would like to purchase volume licenses for Windows 10 Enterprise, contact your preferred Microsoft Reseller or see How to purchase through Volume Licensing.
Can I upgrade from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 for free?
If you have Windows 7 Enterprise or Windows 8.1 Enterprise and current Software Assurance, you are entitled to the upgrade to Windows 10 Enterprise through the rights of Software Assurance. You can find your product keys and installation media at the Volume Licensing Service Center.
If you have a version of Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 that came preinstalled on your device (OEM) or was purchased in a store (retail), you may qualify for a free upgrade to Windows 10. See the Windows 10 FAQ for more information.
For devices licensed under a volume license agreement for Windows that does not include Software Assurance, new licenses will be required to upgrade these devices to Windows 10.
What are the hardware requirements for Windows 10?
Most computers that are compatible with Windows 8.1 will be compatible with Windows 10. You may need to install updated drivers in Windows 10 for your devices to properly function. You can find the requirements for Windows 10 here.
Important: For 64-bit installations, a small number of older PCs may be blocked from installation because they don't support CMPXCHG16b, PrefetchW, and LAHF/SAHF.
Can I evaluate Windows 10 Enterprise?
Yes, a 90-day evaluation of Windows 10 Enterprise is available through the TechNet Evaluation Center.
We recommend that organizations make use of the Windows 10 Enterprise 90-day Evaluation to try out deployment and management scenarios, test compatibility with hardware and applications, and to get hands on experience with Windows 10 Enterprise features.
Can I use Windows 10 Enterprise as a member of the Windows Insider Program after July 29, 2015?
Windows 10 Insider Preview expires October 1, 2015. If you're running Insider Preview, we'll send you notifications beginning on September 15, 2015 to remind you that it's time to upgrade your PC to a newer version. After October 1, a clean installation of Windows 10, the Windows 10 Enterprise 90-day Evaluation, or your former operating system will be required; and you will need to reinstall all of your programs and data.
Are ISOs available for Windows 10?
Yes, ISOs are available for Windows 10. You can use the media creation tool on the software download site to create an ISO in these situations:
- You have a Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 system with a retail or OEM license and you want to participate in the Get Windows 10 upgrade offer.
- You have purchased a retail copy of Windows 10 from a store.
- You have a computer that came with Windows 10 preinstalled.
For computers licensed under a volume license agreement, you can get ISOs through the Volume Licensing Service Center.
What deployment tools are available for Windows 10?
- The Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) 2013 Update 1 adds support for Windows 10 and is currently in Preview. You can sign up for the preview here at Microsoft Connect.
- System Center Configuration Center has been updated with service packs for Configuration Manager 2012 and 2012 R2, adding support for Windows 10. Read more at Announcing support for Windows 10 management with System Center Configuration Manager.
- You can also try out the next generation of System Center Configuration Manager in System Center Configuration Manager and System Center Endpoint Protection Technical Preview 2, available here from the TechNet Evaluation Center.
- You can the Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (Windows ADK) for Windows 10 from Download Kits and Tools for Windows 10 on MSDN, including the new Windows Imaging and Configuration Designer (ICD) that can be used to create Provisioning Packages, which allow you to configure a Windows 10 device without deploying a new image.
Can I upgrade computers from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 without deploying a new image?
Computers running Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 can be upgraded directly to Windows 10 using the in-place upgrade process without a need to reimage the device. Using System Center Configuration Manager this upgrade can be managed automatically through an Operating System Deployment task sequence. See How to upgrade to Windows 10 using the task sequence in System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager on the System Center Configuration Manager Team Blog.
Where can I find drivers for my devices for Windows 10 Enterprise?
For many devices, drivers will be automatically installed in Windows 10 and there will be no need for additional action.
- For some devices, Windows 10 may be unable to install drivers that are required for operation. If your device drivers are not automatically installed, visit the manufacturer's support website for your device to download and manually install the drivers. If Windows 10 drivers are not available, the most up-to-date drivers for Windows 8.1 will often work in Windows 10.
- For some devices, the manufacturer may provide more up-to-date drivers or drivers that enable additional functionality than the drivers installed by Windows 10. Always follow the recommendations of the device manufacturer for optimal performance and stability.
- Some computer manufacturers provide packs of drivers for easy implementation in management and deployment solutions like MDT or SCCM. These driver packs contain all of the drivers needed for each device and can greatly simplify the process of deploying Windows to a new make or model of computer. Driver packs for some common manufacturers include:
Where can I find out if an application or device is compatible with Windows 10?
The Windows Compatibility Center is a community generated database of compatibility information. You can look up your device or application there to see if other users have reported the device or app to be compatible or not. You can also provide feedback and rate the compatibility of apps or devices to help answer the questions of other users of Windows.

Error when trying to update media
Hi,
I have a new MDT server. I copied my deployment share and all other data from my previous server to the new server. Opened the deployment workbench and opened the deployment share.
I use offline media which we extract to a usb drive and build pc's from there. When I now want to update my media on the new server, it runs for a while and then give below mentioned error. Any idea what this can be?
"System.Management.Automation.CmdletInvocationException: Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1, position 1. ---> System.Xml.XmlException: Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1, position 1."
Reply:
You can't just copy it over. From your old server you might want to make a linked deployment share and populate the new MDT server from it.
Try something similar to DC's solution here:

ActiveSync Issues on a single user
Hi Guys,
I have a bit of an issue here ..need your professional help
I have a user on exchange 2010 (I could not find a forum for exchange 2010) ..I can add the user email to mobile devices but it does not sync the emails to the device. I tried on Blackberry, iPad and an Android device and each time it was the same.
I saw something online about checking the inheritance from AD and I have done this but still no luck
OWA works fine. When I setup the user email on outlook, the inbox folder comes up as empty even though there are over 2000 emails (from OWA the inbox is fine and shows the emails)
Appreciate all the help I can get

Go to AD console and from the view select the option "View Objects as container".
go to that user and see the child objects. Remove the child objects under this for active sync and try again after the replication.

Hi Rana ..thanks for your advice. Sadly this has not worked for me. I have deleted the activesync objects as advised (I could see my phone type there) I also removed the email from my device and re-added it.
Text messages sync fine but emails don't even though it was checked to sync.

I checked ADSIedit and the user has an activesync attribute. Will it recreate if I remove it?
I am thinking of doing a pst of the user's mailbox through outlook, delete the user account from AD and exchange completely, recreate the account and mailbox and import the pst saved earlier.
I am hoping that by doing this I would have removed any issues with the mailbox. Any advice on this?
Thanks Rana ..

Hi Rana,
So it turns out it was not an activesync issue. I found out when I attempted to do an export to pst. I setup the mailbox on an outlook client and the inbox was same like on mobile devices ..it was empty.
I resolved the issue by running the new mailbox repair command in exchange management shell
New-MailboxRepairRequest -Mailbox user@company.com -CorruptionType SearchFolder,AggregateCounts,ProvisionedFolder,FolderView
Everything is fine now.
Thanks a bunch for your support.

Windows 8 Black screen
Hi!
I have Windows 8.1 installed on my Dell laptop and I am quite often getting Black screen issue.
I am curios as we all remember famous Blue screen error in previous versions of Windows,
what could even possible happens to Windows to have black screen?
I mean in general?
Is this Windows design flow? I am quite sure I have some issue(s) with power on/off/sleep mode, probably driver fault,
or even may be virus, but does it make any sense to build system when system can theoretically go into black screen mode?

No I wanted start discussion about Windows architecture in architecture forum, but moderator moved it to .NET branch, probably because question too general or not well formed. I will close question.
My advice to moderators if question is not looks like well enough formulated, make sense reject question.

What happen when sending encrypted email (S/MIME)
What is S/MIME? The following article well described about this feature. In this article, we just like to share the details about what happens when the mail client send or receive a S/MIME email so that you can have some ideas about where to start the troubleshooting.
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn626158(v=exchg.150).aspx
When sending a digitally signed e-mail message, the following sequence occurs.
1. Message is captured (performed by client system).
2. Hash value of the message is calculated using the algorithm specified by the defaultSigningAlgorithms key (performed by client system and user's Exchange server).
3. Sender's digital certificate private key is retrieved (performed by client system).
4. Sender's digital certificate is verified (performed by user's Exchange server).
5. Hash value is encrypted with the sender's private key (performed by client system and user's Exchange server).
6. Encrypted hash value is appended to the message as a digital signature (performed by client system).
7. Message is sent (performed by client system).
When viewing an encrypted e-mail message, the following sequence occurs.
1. Message is received (performed by user's Exchange server).
2. Encrypted message and encrypted session key are retrieved from the message (performed by client system).
3. Recipient's digital certificate private key is retrieved (performed by client system).
4. Session key is decrypted with the recipient's digital certificate private key (performed by client system).
5. Message is decrypted with the decrypted session key (performed by client system).
Unencrypted message is returned to the recipient (performed by client system).

Calling REST service with POST in Biztalk
Hi all,
I have created the biz-talk application in which i have created the biz-talk application with Orchestration and logic port in it.
exposed the Receive-location using BizTalk WCF service publishing wizard and can see the Receive location is created in Biz-talk Admin console.
I want to Post the message to client's REST service at Send Port.
How to create Send port with REST property and Post method to call the client's service ?
I will post the message on Client's Rest service and will receive the response back.
Thanks and Regards, Nitin.

Hi,
You can start simple by simple send and receive ports, where send port of type wcf-webhttp and a file receive to drop a message, it can be GET or a post. Later link the physical port to the logical.
Sample Bindings you can import and test

If MS is to continue developing Insider Preview builds, why TechNet is closing the Insider Preview forums ?
So where do the Insider Preview users going to ask questions about Insider Previews ?
Here, at Windows 10 forums ?
That makes sense ?

David,
Good points.
I suspect there would be another forum available for the coming Previews. They should be separated from the listed forums here.

It was the same for Windows 8.
Maybe to prevent users to ask questions in the Tech Preview forums instead of the official.

Pinned folders on File Explorer showing multiple "Desktop" and Send To showing only "Bluetooth device"
See: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/5131cc04-e485-4e61-b5ff-a0455139f9b6/pinned-folders-on-file-explorer-showing-multiple-desktop-and-send-to-showing-only-bluetooth?forum=WinPreview2014General
I've determined that the cause of Send to missing shortcuts is an extra Bluetooth shortcut separate from "Bluetooth device". Not sure if it's corrupted, but right-clicking or deleting the file causes Windows Explorer to lag.
Here is the file: https://app.box.com/s/ikwos5iyl9nyw0p0co2pc2b49u45awk8
Also, I now noticed that the extra pinned items can now be removed manually! About time Microsoft.
While these specific bugs are fixed, we're still moving onwards with Windows 10...

J.L.1,
Thanks for your sharing.
The default Send to and the pined options at my side look like this:
I tried to pin different Desktop to the Taskbar and there is only one Desktop showed out.
By default there would be Music and Videos listed under Frequent, which we could pin to the Pined list.
What I could suggest here is to create a new account and cehck if the mentioned issue insists, if not, we may follow the article to fix the issued Account:

Mails to address on Exchange 2007 server received in Hotmail account
A person with xyz@domain.com account set up on Exchange in the organization. He has a hotmail account as well.
For some unknown reason, some mails intended to the xyz@domain.com account were delivered to the hotmail account. Some will appear in the Exchange mailbox, but with much delay. Indeed, more mails are delivered to the hotmail account than to the company account.
This is quite annoying because it would be quite strange replying from a hotmail account while the original mail is for a company email address.
Thanks,
Reply:
I suspect the user has an Inbox Assistant rule that's doing this.
If he's opening Outlook with a profile that includes both Exchange and Hotmail, he shouldn't.

Who says making the reservation will only slow down getting the free upgrade ?
I have Win 8.1.1 pro with reservation to Win 10 RTM.
Today, July 28th, Windows Update tried to download the upgrade Windows 10 Pro. It failed to download..... 3 times.
While it failed to download 3 times, it also means that there is no slow down getting the upgrade just because I have made the reservation.
I bet in less than 12 hours, I'll get my Win 10 Pro downloaded and installed on July 29th early afternoon.

JDBC SqlServerResultSet performs poorly when looking up column results by string
In profiling some common operations with the SQL Server driver (as compared to the open source reference driver) it appears that calls to ResultSet.getString(String) or any getter on the ResultSet that uses a string for the column lookup, performs slowly. As the number of columns in a ResultSet grows, the performance fetching results from the ResultSet appears to degrade linearly, leading me to believe that there may be some room for improvement in the SQL Server driver in this area.
Using getString(int) appears to solve the performance problem but isn't a good solution as it is inconvenient to replace string based lookups with integers throughout an application.
It would be nice if Microsoft could fix this performance problem with the driver.
