user rights issue
Dear Team,
I have a document library . I give user to view only rights.
Can view pages, list items, and documents. Document types with server-side file handlers can be viewed in the browser but not downloaded
But user still can download .. why ???
Thanks a lot
Reply:
As per my knowledge, if user has access to document he can download it.
SharePoint works this way one thing can be done is to either show/ hide download option based on user permission.
A code tweak.

Please drop the humberger menu
This menu is the worst idea ever conceived by the human mind when it comes to mobile, and should be removed, together with all the stuff aligned left. They are a pain in the ass for anyone using a smartphone with screen > 4.5
The UI your had in windows phone 8.1/8/7.8/whatever was so much better with all the options and menus easily accessible at the bottom of the device, where you have the navigation buttons.
Right now, you are forcing 2Hand usage of the phone just because...well...I can't think of a proper reason.
If you want to go through with this, at least allow us to move that menu around in ease of access settings or something. And no, the thing you stole from the IPhone with bringing down the window to the middle does not count as ease of access. It is just a horrible band aid.
Also, all the left aligned elements in settings/app drawers and other important places make it really difficult to use the phone.
PS: lumia 830 has horrible wireless connectivity (wifi, bluetooth and mobile) on the preview.

Word 2007 Formula Syntax error - comma returns error
Hi,
I have created an invoice which works perfectly on my Windows 8.1 PC but the same invoice won't work in my Windows 10 PC.
The problem I have is that I receive a syntax error with the formula on the Windows 10 pc.
The formula is =PRODUCT(A2,C2) which multiplies the 2nd line of column 1 with the 2nd line of column 3.
The only way it will work is if I change the comma to an apostrophe i.e.: =PRODUCT(A2;C2) this then works perfectly but it means that I can't edit any invoices on the other machine if I change the template.
What I would like to know is how can the syntax be different from one machine to another?
Have I missed some setting?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
(both machines have been fully updated with office and windows updates)
Kind Regards Wayne Lal-Singh

Reply:
The error is due to your regional settings. You can overcome this by not using PRODUCT; instead you can use nothing more complicated than a field coded as:
{=A2*C2}
Such a construction will give the correct result regardless of the PC's regional settings.

UM Routing Fail when Exchange Server in Maintenance mode
Good morning,
I have a 3 server Exchange DAG (each with the UM role/service) and whenever I place one of the servers in maintenance mode, I get the following alert(s) from Lync/UM:
LS Exchange Unified Messaging Routing(44022 - LS Exchange Unified Messaging Routing): An attempt to route to an Exchange UM server failed. The attempt failed with response code 504: X.X.X.X.
Request Target: [YYY@X.X.X],
Call Id: [ba410a14f4dbd4e007fb08e6b7fcee26].
Failure occurrences: 2, since 6/23/2015 7:54:43 AM.Cause: An attempt to route to an Exchange UM server failed because the UM server was unable to process the request or did not respond within the allotted time.
Resolution:Check this server is correctly configured to point to the appropriate Exchange UM server. Also check whether the Exchange UM server is up and whether it in turn is also properly configured.
When this happens, voicemails destined for that user cannot be left.
Is there a way I can ensure the UM integration knows that an Exchange is offline, to prevent these routing issues? I would have expected the UM integration to 'know' when the Exchange topology changes.
Thanks in advance,
Greg

Hello,
I have no problem when I start maintenance mode on my servers.
I presume you run the StartDagServerMaintenance.ps1 script in $exscripts?
Also, are the UM services set the same on all your servers?

Windows 10 PPKG files in MDT?
Brian Hoyt
Reply:
I'm planning on making a provisioning package for the Surface (they are bloat-free) as well but I'm going to wait until the next version of MDT is released and I upgrade to the new ADK.
I'll be following their "scenario #2" and using MDT. The hold up is waiting for MDT 2013 Update 1
As I understand it, to use a provisioning package, the computer must already be on Windows 10.

FIM pre-requisites for SharePoint 2013 - unable to set compatiblility level as it is a readonly property
I am having a problem setting the compatibility level for SharePoint, prior to installing FIM.
The property is read-only. Is there are registry entry that will complete this?
Here is the environment:
Freshly installed VM with Windows 2012 Std. Server is named: FIMS.
It is domain joined with .Net 3.5 installed.
It also have SQL 2012 Std installed including full-text search.
It has SharePoint 2013 installed...
Configure SQL Server 2012 for SharePoint 2013
http://sharepointpromag.com/sql-server-2012/configure-sql-server-2012-sharepoint-2013
I am stuck at step 1 in the following article to prepare SharePoint for the FIM install.
Installing FIM 2010 R2 on SharePoint Foundation 2013
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj863242(v=ws.10).aspx
Violating any of the above conditions will be caught by the setup prerequisite checks and will block the installation of the portal.
- The SharePoint 2013 site collection runs in 2010 experience mode.
To verify, in the SharePoint 2013 Management command-line shell, enter the following commands and verify that the return value is 14:- $spSite = SpSite("http://www.contoso.com");
- $spSite.CompatibilityLevel
When I run the command it reports the value is read-only. Advice on how to set this via registry or other mean, is much appreciated.
PS C:\> $spSite = SpSite("http://fims")
PS C:\> $spSite.CompatibilityLevel
15
PS C:\> $spSite.CompatibilityLevel = 14
'CompatibilityLevel' is a ReadOnly property.
At line:1 char:1
+ $spSite.CompatibilityLevel = 14
+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
+ CategoryInfo : InvalidOperation: (:) [], RuntimeException
+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : PropertyAssignmentException
Thank you
Reply:
It would appear that using the SharePoint Wizard to create my first farm setup, is responsible for the read only property. Other web sources indicate that it needs to be deleted and to use powershell to re-create it.
So we will abandon FIM entirely and use a third party tool.
Microsoft has excellent documentation, but not for this product.
Might I suggest that someone at MS actually documents an install of FIM on a 2012 Std server, including its dependencies.

PowerShell V.3 or later version not able to install on LATITUDE E6410 (x64 Win 7 Pro.)
I am facing an issue to install PowerShell v.3 or later version on Dell LATITUDE E6410 having Windows 7 Professional x64 bit system and Service pack 1 already install in it. Whenever I tried to install update "Windows6.1-KB2506143-x64" at the end of installation it shows error "The following updates were not installed: Update for windows (KB2506143)".Also PowerShell v.4 not installed on system.
Anyone face same issue on above mention system configuration. One of response i received earlier in which he mentioned "Installed Microsoft Readiness Tool then reinstall .net version and again try to install PowerShell v.3" it will resolve the issue but unfortunately it not works.
Any one have an idea what are possible cause for this issue and steps to resolve this ?

Windows 10 Mail High CPU and I/O
Hi,
I have configured my Gmail and Hotmail account. There are a few issue
1) When the Mail sync, CPU usage goes high (60-70%) as well as Disk I/O (>80%) and this goes on for a few minutes. Also while the sync is going on no mail will be received.
2) Notification intermittently works.
May I know if anyone has experienced this and has found a fix for it? Thanks.
Not seeing Windows 10 Updates
Reply:
Not all updates are released to WSUS and/or they just haven't been put into the WSUS catalog yet. All updates released to this point should get automatically slipstreamed into the upgrade to Win10.
Not sure about new installs exactly though. I think the assumption is that since Windows 10 is not free for enterprises, no systems managed by WSUS should have Win10 yet. That will of course change rapidly though.
