I have the same build, and a similar problem with rules not firing on delta sync, but a different scenario ... in my case I had equal precedence set on a "pwdLastSet" attribute which should have set up an export to the FIM portal when it was updated in AD. In my case a delta sync preview did nothing, but a full sync preview gave the expected result. I figured I could find a different way to meet my requirements, and I did ... but I still believe that this is a bug.

Just be a bit careful with this specific scenario - there was an issue in conjunction with equal precedence that has been resolved by a hotfix that is available.
From a high-level perspective, the full sync scenario doesn't help since EAFs are "brute force" applied in case of a full sync...
So, from a problem description perspective "full sync does it and delta sync doesn't" doesn't really help - if you can see what I'm trying to get at.
The focus should remain on the delta sync and why an expected state is not reached.
You might be a victim of the case that is addressed by the hotfix though.

I'm not using equal precedence here. Here is the precise scenario:
1. Full Import/Delta sync from Flat File MA projects to FIM Portal
2. FIM Portal creates ERE to provision user in ADAM (delta import and delta sync runs)
3. Export to ADAM (followed by delta import and delta sync runs). If you inspect the user object exported to ADAM, you will find it has all the attributes from the Sync Rule in order, but, my three attributes I have defined via EAFs are not there.
4. Run a Full Sync on ADAM (or full sync preview on user) and my three EAFs fire and are exported to ADAM.

Best scenario for Terminal Server to support 300 users
Hi everyone,
Please, I'm thinking about the best way to design a scenario that must to support three hundred users in an organization with several branches offices.
I'd try to design an virtualization environment with HyperV and SAN where the project will running with six virtual machines.
Every virtual machine has 16 gb of memory.
However I'm a begginer in this kind of project and my head has a lot of doubts. For instance:
- Is it better to share the access between six virtual machines? What about just two virtual machines? I'm confused about the Dos and Donts of every solution.
- The users will basically use light apps and Microsoft Office. 256 MB ram per user is a good idea to estimate the use of memory?
- Is it good if I'll have a server dedicated to Ts Gateway and Licensing?
If anyone has experience with medium&larger projects of Terminal Server, please, could you give me an opinion?

Hello Fernando,
I'm in the exact same situation at the moment. I'm working on a basic setup for 350 users terminal server environment.
What I've come up until now is this:
- (memory requirement is all your applications + 20MB overhead) / per user
- use Windows Server 2012 if you can, you can create folders in your Web Access site and you can easier create farms or groups of VMs
- be sure to put them on some good disks, if you put a lot of users on the same VM, make sure they're running on a RAID50 at least.
- I have seperated TS gateway and licensing. Licensing is actually just running on a general purpose server together with some other services.
- I would go for creating multiple VMs instead of just 2. If one fails all users will have to work on 1 server, which might be a bit tough.

You have number of problems. Much more that I would expect. You have not given any information on previous installation, configuration and application.
Install new copy of W 7. Be aware that the first driver that you have install in vanilla plain installation is chipset driver. The HAL error seems to be connected with transfer of operating system from one to another computer.

You can do this via SharePoint Designer.

I'd like multiple, separate pinned Explorer.exe icons for separate projects. For example,

This should work across restarts, per the 'reopen folders' setting. Selectable colors (icon & maybe window-chrome) would be helpful too.
(Perhaps this could be tied into Libraries, but I think Projects are subsets of libraries, and a single Project could include (subfolders of) Documents and Photos, Network locations, and other types...)

Hi all,
My old customer asks me that can we set the avatar - located in the intranet website for each user from the server.
example: user user01 will be link to http://abc.local/avatar/user01.jpg
At this time, some people configure avatar on his lync client by themselves, some people confuse about its. So, the administrator want to configure from server.
I know that we can integrate with Sharepoint system for this case, but there 's not sharepoint server at their system at the moment.

You can use a photo associated with their user object in AD. Thumbnail photos are stored in the thumbnailPhoto attribute in AD. You can upload pictures to AD in a number of ways but a very easy way is to use a utility such as this:

Hello,
I will give the answer now that I know it.
IE7 is propiterary code, IE8+ is now following ISO standards.
PerformancePoint Server 2007 will only work with IE7 or less.
Once you go to IE8 or above, you need to migrate to SharePoint 2010 where PerformancePoint Services are integrated
and it will work for IE8 or above. We have both and proved this within our SharePoint sites.

cluster configuration with witness disk
Hi all,
I have a problem to configure a cluster with windows server 2012.
My setup is as follows: two nodes within the cluster, plus a storage node.
The problem comes when I go to set the quorum. Basically I have two drives connected to the cluster with iSCSI connection, one for vm(CSV) and the other for the disk witness.The cluster is configured as anode and disk majority.
When I reboot one node, the entire cluster goes down, then both thevm, CSV and disk witness, but when I restart the second node, the vm is migrated correctly on the first node and the CSV and the witness disk remains up.
What could be the problem? I have to perform some specific configuration?

I solved my problem.
Basically I had to connect both nodes to the storage via the initiator, and then do the validation of the cluster in such a way as to make the two active path network, to make sure that the CSV and the disk witness were always up.

laptop cannot connect to desktop
my desktop has windows 7 on it my laptop has vista. I can connect my desktop to my laptop and access my files on my laptop, but i cannot do the same with my laptop to my desktop. It says my desktop is accessible but I do not have the access to the files on my desktop. I have file sharing turned on, but cannot figure out why my laptop cannot access my desktop. My xbox can. Any ideas?

Don't try to use the HomeGroup feature unless you have at least two computers running Windows 7.
Presumably you have put the computers in the same workgroup?
On the Win7 go to Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Network and Sharing Center > Advanced Sharing Settings and make sure you have Network Discovery, File and Printer Sharing and Public Folder Sharing all set to 'On' and Password Protected Sharing to 'Off'.
To share a Windows 7 folder, right-click it > Properties > Sharing Tab > Advanced Sharing > Share this folder > Apply, OK > Close. Two little people should appear on the icons of the folders that are shared. An alternative way of sharing is to drag the folders you want to share to the Public folder.
As you don't have Password Protected Sharing turned on, you have to change the security permissions on your folder(s) to allow Everyone access. Right-click the shared folder > Properties > Security Tab > Edit > Add and type 'Everyone' (not the quotes) into the box and OK. Tick the boxes next to the permissions you want to allow (e.g. Read or Write, etc.) then Apply > OK, etc.
You may see some screens coming up with message 'An error occurred while applying ……..'. This is not unusual and can be ignored by clicking Continue.
A very similar procedure is used on XP and Vista, i.e. slightly different wording.

Windows 7 has many new security enhancements that make it even stronger in the business world; but a bit more difficult for users at home like us.
I had trouble sharing any folders/files/extra hard drives with my other PC's using older Windows versions. After turning on all my sharing attributes, I could "see" my other desktop and laptop on the network and they could "see" my desktop with Windows 7. However, even though they all recognized each other… I still couldn't get access. One was running XP and we have Vista on the other. I could get into files on them from Win7, but they couldn't get into the desktop with Windows 7.
I made a step by step post on my fix after hours of tinkering around. Maybe this fix would work for your trouble? It's pretty much exactly what Burr said… but I tried hard to make it very easy to follow.

I think u have an antivirus or u enable Firewall on ur desktop (win7) which prevent u to access any shared file on it. So because of that u dont have the access to the files on my desktop.
Just disable the Firewall of ur Antivirus & also the windows Firewall.

I was struggling with the problem that I was not able to access my desktop using my laptop.
The problem was solved removing several "crazy" drives that Windows created inside the network adapters.
Go to: Computer, properties, Device Manager, Network Adapters, View, Show hidden devices.
Check if you have drives that starts with "6to4". In my case I had more than 150 drives. When I remove all of them, my laptop starts to access the desktop again!
In order to make this job easer, I would like recommend this link:

In this page, it is possible to download a tool to remove all the 6to4 drives automatically. In my case I had more than 150 drives and each one takes more than 1 minute to be removed. Moss prod to dev refresh, preparetomove -undo required?
Just a quick query. We're refreshing a sitecollection in our MOSS dev environment with content from production. I'm running the preparetomove switch on prod before taking a backup of the site collection using stsadm.
stsadm –o preparetomove –contentdb [servername:databasename] –site [http://sitecollectionURL]
stsadm –o backup http://[sitecollectionURLsource] –filename "\\server\[filename].bak"
My query is do I need to undo the preparetomove on prod once the backup is complete or is this an automatic process ? documentation isn't very clear only saying it's temporary (for how long ?)
eg: stsadm –o preparetomove –contentdb [servername:databasename] –site [http://sitecollectionURL] -undo
and do i need to undo on the dev environment aswell once the content is refreshed.

You don't need to use the preparetomove stsadm operation when performing a site collection backup; for site collections, it's specifically used when moving it to a new location in the farm (hence the name). When you take a backup you're not moving the site collection (you're creating a copy in a new farm).
My understanding is it is temporary in the sense that once you move it, SharePoint will notice you have told it you were moving the site collection and process it accordingly in the new location. That is, there is no time limit, the temporary-ness of the command is simply a flag that says "when you move or reattach this site collection it will need to processed to hook up the profile data"
When you restore a site collection in a different farm, SharePoint will set all this up automatically since it is new.

Microsoft Word 2010 EXPERT Exam - 77-887
I just took the Microsoft Word 2010 EXPERT exam yesterday and PASSED! I was completely taken by surprise at the questions. I am a legal secretary, and there was nothing on this exam that I use in my present job. I think the problem was the "wording" of the questions was very unclear. I had to skip about 4 questions just so that I could think about what they were asking. For example, <removed NDA content>. I spent almost 3 months preparing for this exam, and I have to say that I was very much unprepared.

Sharepoint 2010 Foundation Upgrade KB2553413 knocked out my images on home web page
I have a SBS running 2011 where we recently applied KB2553413. We completed the process with psconfig.exe but are still having issues with images not being displayed on home web page. I was hoping someone more astute here would be able to suggest other remedies or a possible way to back the patch out.

Will you please describe what you are seeing -- are the images not appearing? Are you seeing file not found or access denied errors where pictures should be? Something else?

You are correct in that the errors started after applying the update.
The web page loads with all the text, but where the images are supposed to be located, there are boxes with red Xs in them. There is an error displayed on the web browser, but it references three places in hte code with "Object Expected" " code 0" and the specific lines in the source.
I've checked priviledges and permissions in the folder where the images are stored as well as ensuring the custom user is a member of IIS_USRS.
Please let me know if you need anything else.

calendar view project task info query
I have several small subprojects in a static master with similar Work break down structure. In the calendar view is it possible to see which project has that task in a given week. For instance I have same name activities in almost every project is there a way I can identify in the calendar view which task belongs which project?

Is this the same master file I worked on or is this a different file (i.e. I don't recognize the task descriptions in the screenshot above)? It looks like a more detailed file.
At any rate, in a normal default dynamic master the Project field identifies which subproject the tasks belong to. However in a static master that information is lost because all the subproject files are directly incorporated into the master.
If your summary lines identify the project, you would need to get that information into an extra text field for each of the subtasks under that summary. Then you could add that text field to the calendar bar styles. I see in your original file you have already done that with Text1 being the job name. If you also do the same in this file then it's simply a matter of adding Text1 to the calendar bar styles.

I agree with Johns reply. Assuming that you have a Text1 field with Job name or Project name, here are the steps to add Text1 to Caledar view:
1. Goto Calendar View.
2. Click on Format Tab. click on Bar styles button.
3. In Bar styles dialog box, select "All" from Task type list.
4.Select the Fields drop down menu at the bottom and from the displayed list select Name, Scheduled duration and Text1 checkbox. click in the Calendar view so the list disappears.
4. Now click on Ok in Bar styles dialog box .
(Note: By selecting All, all the types of tasks like critical,non-critical,milestones,Summary etc will have Text1 field. If you want to explicitly remove/change Text1/Name/Scheduled duration from a task say Milestone ,select the Field Milestone from the task type list in Bar styles dialog box and and from Fields drop down menu check/uncheck the desired field checkbox.)

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "overflow tasks". Do you mean tasks that are carryover from the previous month or what?
Unfortunately one of the disadvantages of the Calendar view is the limited space trying to shoehorn too many tasks into a too small a box that represents a day, week or month. You could try filtering the task set and then show the Calendar view of that filtered set, but in my mind it's easier and less trouble to filter the Gantt Chart view using the Date Range filter.

yes john, I guess this is one of the limitations in printing off in a calendar view. I have a crazy amount off tasks going on in a week and the paper space in the calendar view just does not allow to print those many tasks on one week page without overflowing in a list format.

I don't suppose a large format printer is available (e.g. plotter). That's probably what you will need if you positively have to have a hard copy.
Another option would be to export the data to another app (e.g. Excel) where graphical formatting is much more flexible.

SP 2010 Old workflow versions are still running even though they've been removed.
I'm running SP 2010 and I have a calendar which I've associated a custom sharepoint designer workflow specifically for that calendar, however, in building the worklow it was pretty much a trial and error process to get it to work properly. I now have the workflow where I want it (for now), but I am finding that an older version is still running and sending out email alerts (which should not be coming through). When I go into the item it only shows the most recent version as running. I've gone in and removed all previous versions from the calendar and also removed them from sharepoint designer but the emails continue to be sent. I'm not finding anything that shows me where this old version is running. Is there a way to see all workflows and versions that are running behind the scenes? If so, can you tell specifically what items they are running on? And finally, how do you turn them off???

Sharepoint 2010 Document library file disappears
I have an interesting problem. Occurred only today, never seen this before.
I have a separate document library for weekly reports. Inside this library I have folders in which I have the actual documents. Now the documents are moving on their own to the upper level of this document library folder! 2 of my documents came out from 2 folders to the document library level.
Has anyone else had these kind of problems? is this just a bug on the sharepoint Team Site or should I get worried about this?
I'm able to move the documents back to correct folder (using the Open with Explorer + Cut & Paste) but as soon as I edit those again the location is changed.

Can you provide more details?
Do you have any custom WF's on these libraries? & what is the size of these libraries? What is the site type? etc.

Thanks for your response. we dont have any custom things like WF's/permissions/views ets...everything is Out of the box only documents size is very small in KB's, it is publishing portal.i dont see same issue with other doc.lib, document will move when i checkout and checkin.

I have overcome this issue by deleting and re creating the document library as i have very few documents in it...Now everthing works fine...But i couldnt get any solution for this problem.
