Hi Mich2102,

I'm afraid your question is not clear at all.
Could you please rephrase? What is your problem and what is the situation you are in.

For example: what does your xml look like? What do you want to do with it?

thanks for the response Peter.the service i am receiving is in the REST XML format ...it doesn't have wsdl attached to it instead it gives me some parameters which i can pass and get the XML. as we need to use this service in different applications, its not feasible to use the link directly. so i am trying to consume the service (or resource) in biztalk and trying to publish the orchestration as webservice and use this webservice in our applications.

the first thing i need to know is, is it possible to do it in BizTalk (2009)

request service link looks something like this http://webserver/ws/Service1?CustNo=123456

response XML is

You could use a http adapter to make a call to the service. I dont think you will get the metadata like wsdl  by any means. You will have to get a response somehow and then constuct your schema accordingly.

Hi,

Based on my research, please try the following:

1. Run Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) Mode and see how it works.

2. Check if resetting Internet Explorer settings can help you.

3. Test if issue also occurs in Safe Mode with networking.

If the issue does not occur in Safe Mode, please use ShellExView to disable related extensions of Internet Explorer in Normal Mode:

1) Please download ShellExView.

Note: The third-party product discussed here is manufactured by a company that is independent of Microsoft. We make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this product's performance or reliability.

2) Extract the download file and double-click the "shexview.exe" file. It will scan the registry for all the shell extensions.

3) Select all the non-Microsoft extensions in pink by press "Ctrl" in the keyboard.

4) Click the "Disable Selected Items" on the toolbar and click Yes.

5) Restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.

If issue persists, due to the issue is related to Internet Explorer, it is recommended to post the issue in Internet Explorer related forums.

Hope this helps.

How can i configure Database, TEMP, Log and backup directories?

Hi all,

Im creating a SQL Server with SQL 2008 R2, and i wanna know where i put the database, temp, log and backup directories. In the Setup of SQL Server, in the "database engine configuration" step, i can move them to a separate directory. I have 4 disks to use.

Reading on internet, people say that i have to use:

- 1 to O.S.;

- 1 to Database;

- 1 to Log

- 1 to TEMP

People say that its interesting save SWAP into another partition, but in my scenario i cant. My doubt is if i have to save database log with database directory or with temp log? And temp directory, put together with database directory or with temp log?

Could someone help me?

thanks in advance

What type of storage you have? Do you have RAID 10, RAID 5 or RAID 1?

If you have RAID 10 you can have all database files on just one RAID 10 partition.

Dynamic Distribution Groups - Wish List Discussion

Just wanted to chime in and get some other administrators to chime in on what features they would want in a future release of Exchange involving Dynamic Groups.
  • Ability to select more then one OU to base the group on
  • Ability to select and de-select recurs-ability per group specified
  • Ability to see (through tool tip or some kind of report) through Outlook who the group e-mails

Reply:

You can do the first two by configuring your search criteria in PowerShell.  As to the third, what you see in Outlook won't necessarily be what you get because the dynamic distribution group is just that.  The distribution could change between the time you look at it in Outlook and the time the message reaches the hub transport server that is expanding the list, and Outlook could well be looking to a different domain controller than the hub transport server is.

AD user templates showing in OAB

Hello -

I've created AD user templates for new user creations in Active Directory. For some reason these are now showing up in all of our Address book in Outlook. I did not create any mailbox in Exchange for these templates. How can I hide these templates from the OAB view? Please kindly advise.

Cheers -

DB

Reply:
If they're mail objects, then they'll show up in the address book.  What it appears you did was make mail-enabled as opposed to mailbox-enabled users, and those show up in the address book as well.  You can mail-disable (Disable-MailUser cmdlet) to remove the e-mail attributes.  Or you can hide the template objects from the address book, but I believe that any new users you clone from the templates will also be hidden from the address book, and diagnosing and fixing that may cost you more time than you'd be saving from using the templates in first place.

Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

------------------------------------
Reply:
These templates don't have exchange inbox created, only user account in AD that's why I'm confused as to why these are even showing in the OAB? I do understand if I run the Disable-MailUser cmdlet to disable these templates and this may also hide the new ones created from this template when I do a copy in AD.

There is nothing critical in CU1 that needs to be there at deployment time so the best method is to use the SCUP catalog or deploy it using Software Distribution.

SCUP infrastructure should be configured properly (GPO for domain clients, local policies for workgroup clients, certificates).

Keep in mind Microsoft specifically says the CU should be install if you are experiencing the issues described in KB.

Windows Server 2008 R2 RDS and Skype

Hello!

While using Skype on RDS server I (and my users) saw enormous amount of errors, freezes and other types of bugs. Developers of Skype told that "this issue will be solved in future versions"... Skype grown from major version 3 to 5; Windows Server received SP1, SP2 and even Release 2, but nothing changed. I danced with a tambourine around the server, played with users' rights and permissions, Skype was added to DEP exclusion list... zero effect. At last, I reinstalled server with fresh W2K8 R2 and this did not help too.

...until one day I turn DEP off for non-system programs and services completely. It looks painful, but it is the only known way to run Skype (I use 5.1 now) on RDS without going insane because of it's crashes. If you find another less painy way to make it start and work constantly please share your knowledge :)

Reply:

Hi,

If the Skype works fine after you turn the DEP off, please try to add the Skype to the exception list on the RDS server.

You can prevent the DEP popup box while starting some specific application, please perform the following instructions.

Add the application to DEP list:

1. Click on Start, right-click on Computer, and then click on Properties.

2. On the Advanced system settings and then click on Advanced tab.

3. Click on Settings under Performance.

4. Click on Data Execution Prevention.

5. Click on Turn on DEP for all Programs and Services except those I select:

6. If you can see the program in the list, put a check mark on that if not click on

7. Otherwise, click on Add. Locate the path to the program's .exe file.

8. Click on Open.

9. Click on Apply. Click on OK twice.

10. Restart computer and test the issue again.

Alternatively, you can directly check "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only" on step 5.

For more details, you could refer to the following webpage.

Disable Data Execution Prevention (DEP)

http://vistasupport.mvps.org/disable_data_execution_prevention.htm

Run the application as Administrator:

1. Right-click the application shortcut on the desktop and click on Properties.

2. Under Shortcut Tab, click on Advanced.

3. Check the Run as administrator box.

4. Click on OK twice.

Hope this works.

As far as I remember, even if you "preinstalled" Skype with admin account it still makes some modifications on first start under each new user. So you might point it to precreated /datapath to prevent it from trying to modify system folders which will fail definitely.

Exchange 2007 - Total Mailbox count

Hi Team,

I have a very peculiar issue where requirement is I have to present monthly report of mailbox counts on exchange server. Now issue is not how to fetch the data but all these figures are not in sync is what causing the issue.

For Example -

Total Mail box created in previous month -

Total Mailbox deleted in previous month -

I have many ways to get these above figures.

However, issue arises where Mailbox Count of say Aug is not equals to Mailbox Count of July + (Mailbox created - Mailbox deleted).

As this report is expected every month hence if somebody could explain me what am I missing here which is causing this difference in these figures.

I hope I am able to explain my concern.

Few command used to fetch this data -

# Get-MailboxServer | Get-Mailbox -ResultSize unlimited | measure-object

# Get-MailboxServer | Get-MailboxStatistics | where {$_.DisconnectDate -gt "8/2/2012"} | measure-object

# Get-MailboxServer | Get-Mailbox -resultsize unlimited | where {$_.whencreated -gt "8/1/2012"} | measure-object

Depending on what your deleted mailbox retention setting is, those disconnected mailboxes for the previous month may not all still be there to count.

The default is 30 days.  If you run this on the first of every month, any mailboxes that got disconnected on the 1st of the previous month will have been purged by the time you run the report if the month had 31 days, and will not show up on your report.

I think at least part of your problem is that you're not actually counting mailbox creation and deletion events, but artifacts of those events that may not be reliable. A mailbox could get deleted and purged manually, or disconnected, then later re-connected to another account and then disconnected again (if the original disconnect happened in one month, and the second in another month, you'd end up counting it twice).  There may be more ways this could go sideways I'm not thinking of right now, but I don't think this is a good method to audit the number of mailbox creations and deletions.

The newest BIOS update on the Dell page for that model is from 12/2003.

It has no high-speed graphics slots (AGP or PCI-Express); just PCI. Intel has no windows 7 drivers for its 845GV onboard graphics:

http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-030907.htm

The most recent OS that Dell officially supports for it is XP. That seems reasonable.

I'm not sure that any CPUs of that vintage (Socket 378) support the Execute Disable Bit. (Some call it NX, for no execute.) No BIOS update will change that.

If you're desperate to install Windows 8 on this old PC, you probably will have to hack it. I don't know whether that's practical.

Visual Studio Performance Issues

I recently retired an old XP box and upgraded to a 64 bit Win7 PC (i3-2120 CPU @ 3.30 GHz) with 4 GB of ram. Much more machine than the old XP box which was running Visual Studio 2010 4.0.30319 RTMRel. I am now running on the new Win 7-64 box with Visual Studio 2010 4.0.30319 SP1Rel and it is horribly slow. I still have the old XP box and been able to run Visual Studio there to compare and it amazingly different. Much faster than the new machine.

I have done some research here on the forums but have not found anything conclusive other than a general consensus that VS is slow now. Also all the posts that I have found are from 2011 or older.

Is anybody aware of a solution or pending solution to this issue? Is it service pack1? Win 7? 64-Bit? The slowness does affect production.

Hi,

Thank you for posting in the MSDN forum.

Based on your description, it seems that it is not the VS debugger tool issue. Do you mean that you get this issue when you debug the same app in different windows?

As my understanding, many reasons could impact the running of the project, for example, the computer configuration, the project code and others. Since you using the VS in different Environments, so I'm afraid that you should check your Task Manager, close other processes, like the firewall, anti-virus software, and clean your computer and so on. Check it again.

As you said that it is slow when your run it in the Win 7-64 box, whether you have other PC with better configuration, you could try to run your app. You could debug your app with breakpoints, and check whether it is related to the specific code in the app.

You could use the Process Explorer tool to check what really delay your system.

As my understanding, some settings could impact the result when we debug the app. Maybe you could check your Symbol loading (Tool->options->debugging->symbols).

Not very sure whether you refer this blog about "Possible slowdowns under a debugger", if possible, you could check it, it provided the detailed information which could generate slow debugging.

I agree that the "Debugger' forum is probably not the best place to have put this issue, I would have normally put it under a 'General Topics' forum, but one does not exist.  The problem occurs with Visual Studio when starting, running, using the text editor, building, debugging, closing, et al.

Visual Studio now on the new computer just runs very slow. Sometimes better than others, but the build for example (of the same project as what was/is on the old XP box) probably takes 2-3 times as long as on the old PC. The computer is new, very little added to it except for MS Office 2010, so pretty clean. Everything else, other than Visual Studio, runs great. I have checked the task manager and because the PC has very little added to it, it is quite clean and shows very little in regards of overt resource consumption.  I am just amazed how much better Visual Studio runs on my old XP box. Everything else (i.e. MS Office 2010 programs) run at least as well if not considerably better on the new PC.

If you could suggest a different and more appropriate forum, I would be happy to re-post there.

Regards...

Hi,

Glad to receive your reply.

As my understanding, when the VS run slowly, we would check the following options:

  1. The PC configuration.
  2. The VS settings, see "Visual Studio 2010 Very Slow"
  3. The VS installing, see "Visual Studio 2010 SP1 Slow UI"
  4. Maybe other reasons like the more temporary files, see "Slow Visual Studio Performance … Solved"
  5. The project code and so on.

If we could make sure what the real reason is, I think it will be better to find a solution, that's why I suggest you use the process Monitor to check it.

Actually I'm not very sure which forum is better for this issue, but if still no help, since it is not the VS debugger issue. I am moving your question to the moderator forum ("Where is the forum for..?"). The owner of the forum will direct you to a right forum. Could I move it?

Jack,

I greatly appreciate you taking the time for this issue. I was hoping since this was a previously identified problem that there was a very conclusive resolution. I will have to work at this as I can. It is not unusable, just not meeting my expectations with the more robust PC.  Being a small business owner, time is precious and I will investigate the links and try different resolutions including trouble shooting with the process monitor, as I can.

If you would like to move this to "where is the forum for..?", please feel free...

Regards,

B. Brown
