Problem connecting to Server share
Hey there,
Not exactly sure if this is the right forum for this but I have a new server running Server 2008 R2 very basic setup. The server has a static IP address and is on a workgroup called Workgroup. There is a Windows 7 and Windows XP machine on the same workgroup. The server has very limited things turned on. It is using the home network as the main active network connection. UAC is on the lowest setting, the Firewall is turned off and all network sharing is turned on. I was able to ping and connected to the server by name and ip address. I was able to connect to the share and map the drives. It seemed to take a little while at first for the Windows 7 machine to see the server though ( I didn't check the XP machine though).
Weird part though is it lost the connection to the server in every way possible. It will not connect through UNC, can't see through network discovery, can't ping by either IP address or server name. I can connect all computers to the internet and they all can ping other servers on the network though. This one is got me scratching my head. Let me know if you need any other info because I may have left things out since I think I have tried everything. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

"I was able to ping and connected to the server by name and ip address." – what do you mean "connected to the server"? RDP or UNC? And what is your problem? Do you mean win 7 and win xp client unable to access the network share on windows server 2008? If yes, what is the error message that you have received?

I think it's possible to map a sharepoint site folder to a Windows folder and then you can use a Script Task to get the latest file using the modified data.

Image appearing greyed out for custom button in in my custom SharePoint ribbon
<p>Hi, i have created a custom ribbon and added custom drop-down menu button (Add Folder) to it, but the image for that button appears as greyed out. I am not able to figure out why this is happening. When i click on that button my functionality works fine the only problem is image appears greyed out in the ribbon.</p><p>Kindly advice.</p><p></p>

Hi,
The code looks fine. check if there are any Javascript errors in the page. The ribbon buttons may remain disabled due to this also.
Also, Check the Page in Firefox. what is the button status? enabled / disabled.
In IE, press "ctrl + f5" to do a hard refresh and check the page again.

I tried doing the same and also checked for Javascript errors but there are none. I tried applying my own css but still it doesn't work.
I am attaching a screen shot to let you know the issue that i am facing.
I have created two custom buttons(Drop-down menu) Add Folder(s) and Upload Document respectively. As you can see the image for Add Folder(s) is greyed out but the same images is appearing fine for the drop-down menu item. Can you suggest what change i have to do in the code that i have posted earlier.
Appreciate if you can suggest something.

Does anyone know what make of notebook/tablet hybrid is used in this release preview video? It's not the upcoming Microsoft Surface, but maybe an other model from the upcoming Microsoft notebook range?
It has an fixed keyboard that can folded all the way to the back of the screen (the surface and asus have a detachable keyboard)
I couldn't find any info on the internet and it's not clear if it is a microsoft model or from another brand (it's not the Asus hybrid)

SR to create a new user dows not invoke my runbook
Hi,
I'm totally new to SCSM and SCORCH. I have created a runbook in Orchestrator which i have asscoicated with a Service Request. My problem is that when i go through and fill in the fileds for the service request it does not invoke the associated Orchestrator runbook. I have ticked "Is ready for Automation" and have the Orchestrator connector syncing fine. I have also checked to see if all service on the Orchestrator servers is running and they all are.
I'm at a wits end to try and find out why it does not run the runbook that i have specified. I am actually following the example given in the link below and i have checked and double checked to make sure that i have followed the steps correctly.

I had something similar.
It turned out to be something quite simple after much troubleshooting.
You can check on the Orchestrator web page and I could see that the workbook was not firing.
It turned out my Runbook service was not started.

Music App Playlists
The playlists in the music app keep reordering. It's very annoying. I've tried several things to fix it. The most effective has been clearing the playlists and re-importing from Zune software.
I noticed it mostly after using the cloud-match feature in the music app.
Also, reordering songs in the playlist seem unnecessarily cumbersome.
For now, I'm back to Zune hoping for fixes later.

Hi i have installed MDT 2012 on Windows Server 2012. And i have installed Windows 8 Client Machine with all required software's not added to domain. I have created a Task Sequence to Sysprep and Capture the Windows 8 Image i am getting below message " Operating System Deployment Completed Successfully without 0 Errors and 0 Warnings. But in MDT 2012 Server under Capture Folder i am unable to See anything.
After pressing Litetouch.vbs i am doing general Settings in actual Scenario it should restart while Capturing the Image without Restart i am getting below Error.

Firstly, You need a better Subject for the post rather than "Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2012"
Have you installed Windows ADK on MDT 2012 Update 1? This is required for Windows 8.
Can you delete the c:\minint folder on the reference machine and try the capture?
Does the capture process complete and is there no WIM file? Or does it not start the capture at all and just displays that it completed successfully?

I just bought and installed Win 8 (64-bit) yesterday and already got my first bluescreen. I found out that it happens every time I connect to a VPN. Why is that and how to fix it? Please help.

Windows 7 - Attempting to change Screen Resolution - This program is blocked by group policy.
I am running windows 2003 R2 dc's. I have a few new Windows 7 PC's that will not allow me to change the "Screen Resolution".

First I would run RSOP to identify what policy is being applied to the computer, whether it is a local policy vs a domin group policy. To do so open up the policy and tab to "Procedence" to determine if it is applied by local policy or domain policy.
At the start/search field: enter rsop.msc
This will generate a report and you can then go through and identify the active policies. There is documentation stating that you can modify the local policies in rsop.msc, however i have found at least on some entries I have to open up GPEDIT.MSC to modify the local Policy.
Thats at least where i would start, let me know how it works out for you.

I suspect the restriction may be coming from the server in which case you need to check the GPO setting and figure out why it is there and if it can be removed. Anyway as Michael's suggestion using RSOP is to identify what policy is being applied to the computer is good choice.

So after searching for solution i fund something about Discovery search mailbox problems
Note: my Discovery Search Mailbox was disabled in OU i have seen this when i ran to a problem so i dont know will it be like that in your case, some suggest disabling Discovery Search Mailbox.
And i opened AD users and computers go to users OU and DELETED Discovery Search Mailbox, after that i run setup again and no problems it finished ok, i tested everything and server is working like it supposed to.
Hope this Helps someone, i know its not pleasant to go whit something you expect to go like charm and end up with not working server...

Uninstalled SMS Providers but they are still listed on Site Properties.?
Hi All
I had recently installed 2 additional SMS providers for my site, and had uninstalled them. When i look at my SITE Properties in Site Configuration it still shows my additional SMS Providers as being installed ????
Have rebooted my servers and checked the logs but nothing obvious is seen.
When i go through the Configuration Manager Setup - Perform Site Maintenance - Modify SMS Providers, it does in fact show that the SMS provider on the Primary Site Server is the only SMS Provider intalled. If i enter one of the previous SMS Providers FQDN to be installed as an additional SMS Provider it then states that "The specified Server is already a SMS Provider for the site xxx".
Im not sure where to go with this, but something obviosoly seems wrong :(
Anyone have any knowledge of this ?

Unread Emails Automatically getting in Recover deleted items
Hi All,
All these users are exchange MAPI users. They are using Outlook 2007/2010. Where as Exchange 2010 SP1 at server end.
Few of my users Unread Emails are automatically getting in Recover deleted items folder.
I have checked that there is no such rule which deletes emails.

Windows 8 copy-dialog opens behind taskbar
Hi,
I installed Windows 8 Enterprise.
I have two Monitors on which I set the taskbars each to be on the side between the monitors to shorten mouseways. (left monitor has taskbar right, right monitor has taskbar left)
The right monitor with the taskbar left is the main Monitor. So when I copy/delete/move some files the dialog opens on the left side of the right Monitor partially behind the taskbar. Even when I move the dialog to an other place next time it opens on the same location partially behind the taskbar.
So I think there's a bug in the new copy-dialog: It doesn't check where the taskbar is docked...
Any thoughts?

Hi,
Did you use some third party program to achieve this? Windows 8 only can extend the screen as Extend, Duplicate and Show on only one monitor modes.
Collect the screenshot or take a photo will be helpful of describing the problem clearly.
