Total Messages vs. Day & Hour in Power view chart
Table-1 has:
Date Number of Msgs
05-01-2015 12:45:26 2
06-01-2015 16:48:00 4
07-01-2015 10:15:25 2
07-01-2015 11:30:21 3
07-01-2015 12:30:25 5
07-01-2015 13:15:00 7
07-01-2015 13:30:00 2
07-01-2015 13:45:00 4
07-01-2015 14:00:00 3
Now let's say the current system time is 14:05:00 on 07-01-2015
when I select Hour filter, the PowerView chart should display 'Number of Msgs' vs X-Axis (last one hour with 15 minutes interval).
when I select Day filter, the PowerView chart should display 'Number of Msgs' vs X-Axis (last 24 hours with 1 hour interval).
I am able to achieve Week filter, Month filter, Year filter. Struggling to get Day and Hour filters in place as it involves time section of a DateTime column.

Datetime filter in Power View
Hello,
I have made a power view report from an ssas cube. Despite the fact that the attribute fulldate (see following image)
has date type on the cube when I choose advanced on the filter it is being treated like string. I would like this to be treated as date (see following image, I apologize for being in Greek)
What should I do?
Thank you very much,
Andreas

Identity Delegation within Office 365
Hello,
For a Business Intelligence solution that is deployed onto Office 365 + Power BI + SharePoint Online, would a logged on user identity be delegated to the back end SQL Server and SQL Server Analysis Services in case of
a. SQL Server and SQL Server Analysis Services being hosted on-premise
b. SQL Server and SQL Server Analysis Services being hosted on Windows Azure IaaS
c. Azure SQL Database (Paas) and SQL Server Analysis Services being hosted on Windows Azure IaaS
Would this be true in one / both of the following cases
a. When a user credential (including password) has be synchronized to the Active Directory present on Office 365
b. When SSO has been configured and Active Directory Federation has been implemented

Disconnected Slicer in PowerView - Hour | Day | Week | Month | Year | Max
I want to create a Power View chart in Power BI with the Minute/Hour/Day/Week/Month/Year filters:
Workbook can be downloaded at:https://www.dropbox.com/s/r00btg5zb8snohz/Disconnected%20Slicer%20Demo.xlsx?dl=0
when MINUTE is selected the chart should display:
Total Number of Msgs vs. X-axis showing the last 60 seconds (from current time) with 5 or 10 seconds interval.
when Hour is selected the chart should display:
Total Number of Msgs vs. X-axis showing the last 60 minutes (from current time) with 5 minutes interval.
ex: 10:00AM 10:05AM 10:10AM ...................................11:00AM
when DAY is selected the chart should display:
Total Number of Msgs vs. X-axis showing last 24 hours (12AM to 11:59PM with 1 hour interval)
when WEEK is selected the chart should display:
Total Number of Msgs vs. X-axis showing the last 7 days from current datetime stamp with 1 day interval.
when MONTH is selected the chart should display:
Total Number of Msgs vs. X-axis showing the 30 days from current datetime stamp with 1 day interval
when YEAR is selected the chart should display:
Total Number of Msgs vs. X-axis showing the last 12 months from current day with 1 month interval
It would be great if the PowerView chart can be made to look something like this:
shown in the below link:
When '5 Day' is selected the values in the Y axis and X axis change automatically.

Enable Content warning on Power View Map
Hi,
We have a power view built on SharePoint 2013 that has a map. Any 1st time user loading the power view with that map will see the message "Privacy warning to be displayed on the map, some of your data needs to be geocoded by sending it to Bing (Enable Content)".
Any idea if this can be bypass to automatic enable?

How do I change data labels on map?
Hi,
I have a problem with data labels on the map feature.
Info is a table like this:
Namn (text), Fulladress (Adress geo data), Values (decimals)
When I enable labels through "Data Labels" I get the informations located in "Locations", resulting in adresses showing on the map. I.e. the geo-data. What I´d like is to show "Namn" as data labels as this is the names of the objects on the map. My impression is that Data Labels takes info from locations and displays it which seems odd as that´s the place for the geo data. I cannot put Name there.
Another issue is that Long & Lat does not work at all. The data is from a Powerpivot data model where the columns are set as Long & lat respectively under advanced options. Yet when placed in the boxes on the map nothing happens.
Thank you in advance for any help.

Can I label a Power View sheet created in SharePoint 2013?
Hi,
Is this possible to label a Power View sheet created in SharePoint 2013 and have it shown on the preview snapshots?
This is because in the PowerPivot Gallery in SharePoint 2013 has a really nice display of previews with Excel workbook that includes a label on top of the preview for each worksheet in the workbook.

The Powerview reports that reside in SharePoint 2013 are connected directly to a tabular cube on Analysis services. VM hangs at "starting" at the end of Live migration between cluster nodes
I have around 20 vms in a new Hyper-V cluster - 2012 R2. All vm data is stored on SOFS cluster - 2012 R2. I have 1 VM that happens to be a domain controller that loses 4-5 pings during live migration. All the rest of the machines lose 1 ping or less.

If you value your time and weekend, make sure you have turned off auto update (big mistake on my side).
8.1 messes up your drivers and support can't help you, re-installing can if you're lucky lead to a functional operating system, but most likely you will have to refresh and re-install all your software.

File archiving in server 2012
Hello,
I am looking for a good native solution to archive old files, including documents, media files, etc., where users can only read files, but not copy the file (so not to create duplicate files). Is there such a solution in server 2012?
I basically have file servers, and want to eliminate all the files that never gets used, but still gets backed up each day. But want to control, so that users don't just go to the archive and copy files back to file servers.
Seems this is a difficult scenario to control.
Thank you

Using DPM seems like the only option for me to prevent someone to simply copy archived items back into production. Is this a common practice? How does companies control users from just copying files back to production system, creating duplicate data everywhere?
I suppose using 3rd party solution that indexes and puts all this data in a database, where there is more control possibly.
Thanks, I will look at article, as I may go the direction of DPM for a stand alone server.

Ypu should configure these settings on File server (Example;permission specific folders for users,Block media fles, etc,)
Also for data deduplication check this article;

Windowed Behavior in Apps that Utilize Secondary Display (i.e. ProjectionManager)
Hello,
My app utilizes the Windows.UI.ViewManagement.ProjectionManager runtime class to broadcast to the secondary display. Under Windows 8, the secondary window always defaulted to full screen mode, as expected.
Under the Windows 10 preview, the secondary window defaults to being in windowed-maximized mode (i.e. I can see the title bar and task bar on the secondary (projection) display). This is definitely not the type of behavior one would expect of a "projection" window. It should be completely empty because it's being presented to an audience. What's worse is that even if I manually make the projector window full screen, it immediately goes out of full screen mode as soon as I give the primary window any input. (Is this a bug?)
My suggestion is that the default behavior - whether or not in tablet mode - is that a window activated using ProjectionManager should always be full screen unless it is manually resized by the user. However at minimum, the odd behavior I just described of the projector window exiting full screen mode as soon as the primary window receives any input should be fixed.
Thanks a lot and please feel free to contact me if follow up would be helpful.
Peter

sfc finished, but haven't yet tested DISM [was: sfc /scannow unable to get past 27% done, then quits with mssage ".... could not perform the requested operation"]
Build 10049 (and I'll try again with Build 10061 ... which does work so I'll proceed to checking if DISM helps)
I was having a problem with Spartan crashing. A post suggested running sfc /scanown
When I attempted that with:
sfc /scannow
it got to 27% done and then stopped with the message:
Windows Resource Protection could not preform the requested operation.
I attempted the "fix" several more times. Once it got to 7% before stopping, and another time to 17%, each time with the message above ("could not perform").

Hi l_d_allan,
SFC /Scannow will work after you have perform the DISM command in Windows 10 build 10049/10041.
With your install Media, the recovery disk, or the downloaded ISO file, then mount them as a Drive X, after that, type the following command in CMD with admin prompt:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /source:WIM:X:\sources\Install.wim:1 /LimitAccess
haven't tried it on Windows 10 build 10061.
Regarding the spartan not working, in addition to submit feedback, please also try to create a new admin account and check the issue again.
Meanwhile please keep your machine updated, if it has been updated to Windows 10 build 10061, there would be some more updates arrived to fix known issues.

Thanks for continuing to participate on this Thread, even after I'd indicated to Disregard. Also, thanks for your patient assistance with this Win-10 newbie that seems to be having problems that no one else is having (suggesting Operator Error a'la my Avatar of PEBKAK).
Would it make sense to wait for when the next Build comes along with an ISO? It seems like every 2nd or 3rd Build allows using an ISO that can be downloaded. My speculation is that the Builds with ISO's may be a bit more stable than the Builds without ISO's. Or not?
I guess I'm being lazy, but I find it very time-consuming to use an older ISO Build, then do the FAST upgrade to test if the problems are resolved.
Whining?
To me, there seems like there could be a better word used than FAST, since it is so time-consuming. Perhaps something like "Pre-Alpha" for "SLOW upgrade" and "Bleeding Edge" for "FAST upgrade". Or not?
To me, it seems like a misnomer to describe the process as "FAST upgrade". That seems to imply it only takes a few minutes, at least to me.
I'd also change the misleading "progress wording" from "Sit back and wait until finished" to something closer to:
"Working to accomplish [fill-in-the-blank] ... take a break or get something else done rather than staring at this. Next step will be [fill-in-the-blank] in 10 to 30+ minutes. You can tell it worked ok by [fill-in-the-blank]"
Or not?

You are correct. Only the most stable builds that make it to the slow ring get ISO'S. (notably they skipped 49)

I will tell you that converting the ESD (which you downloaded when updating) to ISO is basically a 15 minute process.

I did a quick check for what an .esd file is used for. Is it related to "Virtual Machines"?
I'm working from the Win-7 partition, so I can't test your suggestion(s) until I reboot to the partition with the 10061 Build, which is tedious, especially with Spartan being very crash prone, at least for me.

As noted in replies to other posts, sfc /scannow does work for me with Build 10061. My impression is that using DISM is non-trivial, perhaps like a facilitated re-install. Or not?
I'm actually doing FAST upgrades and keeping very current. Unfortunately, that takes a LOT of time even with a "big pipe to the internet", and leaves my main Desktop computer in an unusable state for hours at a time.
FWIW (whining?):
I've been testing / evaluating Win-10 with a separate "Sandbox partition" on my main Desktop computer, so I can't get any "real work" done as I am finding Win-10 to be unstable, especially Spartan.
I may create a "Sandbox test partition" for Win-10 Tech Preview on my wife's Desktop computer on a separate drive. She mostly uses her ChromeBook. That way, I might be able to get some "real work" done on my Win-7 partition.

ESD>ISO is not related to VMS. It is just converting one file to another.
IMHO spartan is unusable in the current state but shows promise.
DISM is USUALLY not destructive, nor "non trivial". It simply fixes the competent store by downloading files that are corrupted. If no corruption no downloads.
My download of 61 took 20 mins on a 100Mb pipe but that was before the secret was out. Later downloads have taken over 3 hours.
I have seen a bit of improvement in Spartan but continue to use firefox.
Im using 61 as the only OS on 5 machines with only minor issues. One issue is the synaptics trackpad driver that seems to be causing many users fits.

Makes sense.
> You may not be aware but most of us are volunteers who have little or not contact with MS so we are in the same boat that you are.
I was wondering. I think I may be in the upper 15% of users with 95 points in 7+ years. Then I notice that many of the people doing Replies have 1000's and 1000's of points.
I did speculate that since this is a forum actually run by Microsoft that (or not?) then reported issues might have a higher chance of being noticed by MS. Or not?
IIRC, I think about 20 years ago, I was an MVP for "Microsoft Test" for automated GUI testing ... well before Unit tests. I think that got me quite a bit of "free" software in exchange for a LOT of donated hours.
It was like the equivalent of a subscription to the old TechNet that provided CD's/DVD's of most of the latest/greatest MS developer tools every six months or so.
> I will tell you that converting the ESD (which you downloaded when updating) to ISO is basically a 15 minute process.
I'll try to find time to test. Just from a quick read, it appears somewhat similar to an older approach with "Unattended Installation" with a script to bypass most or all of the "Continue?" and "Next?" and "Which Option?" prompts.
I think at one point I had enough expertise with that to have "Unattended installation" of non-Microsoft applications like Photoshop, development tools, etc. Or not?
> I am with you. I hate the install process. The sit back & relax is annoying as is the third boot where you think you are finsihed and then they say setting up a few more things, then yet another reboot and the dreaded "HI"
I understand that "Progress Bars" are inherently inaccurate, and tend to stall at 99% done. That can EASILY be perceived a "Hung" or "Crashed".
To me, the "HI" tends to take so long that the installation appears to have failed. That's even though I have a relatively powerful Desktop with modern SSD and "big pipe" to the internet.
Please be aware that I am INCREDIBLY APPRECIATIVE for the patient assistance from you and several others.

That makes me wonder why not have an .ISO rather than the .esd ... I doubt the .esd is smaller or that the ISO is uncompressed.
Whine?
It's a pet peeve of mine when companies have .zip updates or .tar updates that add an extra step of conversion. A .tar may become the same size .zip which becomes the same size Install_2-1-4.exe or Install_2-1-4.msi. Lunacy?
> IMHO spartan is unusable in the current state but shows promise.
I am Very curious if you are others are seeing the issue of "Crash if letter typed into URL entry field". Are you experiencing numerous crashes (with events in the EventViewer)? Or non-crash glitches?
> DISM is USUALLY not destructive, nor "non trivial". It simply fixes the competent store by downloading files that are corrupted. If no corruption no downloads.
That seems similar to XP or Win-7 boot options that resulted in fresh reloading of .dll's, .exe's, and required System files from the Recovery/Rescue DVD or partition.
Somewhat oddly, Spartan.exe isn't in "Program Files" or "Program File (x86) or windir\System32, but windir\SystemApps. Does that make it a "Metro / Modern" app?
Also, my experience is that you can't get Spartan.exe to launch except from the Quick-Launch taskpad ... not by clicking on Spartan.exe in "File Explorer" or clicking on a Desktop shortcut.
> My download of 61 took 20 mins on a 100Mb pipe but that was before the secret was out. Later downloads have taken over 3 hours.
I think that is what I have. In TaskMgr, I can observe a "real" transfer rate of 30Mb, sometimes spiking higher.
> I have seen a bit of improvement in Spartan but continue to use firefox.
I'm hesitant to have any other browser installed when my "focus of attention" is on trying to help Microsoft get Spartan ready for "prime time". Instead, I do many replies like I am doing now ... From IE-11 on my Win-7 partition. That really slows down testing of received suggestions. Lunacy?
> Im using 61 as the only OS on 5 machines with only minor issues. One issue is the synaptics trackpad driver that seems to be causing many users fits.
I actually have little or no interest ... so far ... on "Metro / Modern Apps". I do have a $99 low power Atom-based ASUS x205TA that came with Win 8.1 (32-bit). I've ignored Android and iOS and WinRT that can't run x86 apps like Photoshop (32 or 64 bit). I've asked about getting Win-10 installed on the ASUS, and may attempt that at some point.

Certainly it cannot hurt to report things in both places and if you want to add a third you might want to cross post on another MS site here.

I suggest the other site both for an added source for you and because the win 10 teams lurk there. The teams are called "champs" and there are several aspects of the OS that are being looked at
I just saw a scathing review of ratings scams and it brought back not so fond memories.

Certainly it cannot hurt to report things in both places and if you want to add a third you might want to cross post on another MS site here.

Interesting. I think I have used Answers, but it's been a while and I forgot it existed.
Are you active on that site?
I suggest the other site both for an added source for you and because the win 10 teams lurk there. The teams are called "champs" and there are several aspects of the OS that are being looked at
Also interesting. Thanks.
BTW I am able to enter urls normally.
I really have assumed that the Spartan.exe crashes I have been experiencing on a chronic basis have to reflect operator error and "self inflicted shooting myself in the foot".
Still, I think Spartan.exe should handle that kind of issue MUCH more gracefully. Or not?
To me, if I can provide a Event in the EventViewer, then "it happened" and should motivate some attention from Microsoft ... and I think I did report via "Feedback App".
Obviously, the o/s can intercept some "crash hook" in order to get the Event recorded in the EventViewer. Watson?
I can sort of accept some SLA (shabby little app) with hardly any functionally being glitchy and doing a "quiet crash".
I can also accept the early versions of a "Big Flaming Deal" like the Spartan browser to be glitchy, but it should NEVER fail silently. My 2¢

After retirement from a fortune 500 company IT department I missed the work hence volunteering.
I am active on Answers as well as MSDN (Microsoft Developer Network) and a couple of others just to keep my hand in.
If SFC & DISM are failing (or reporting unfix-able errors) I suspect something local, happy to look at the event viewer logs if you are inclined.
MS is making changes in the morning and compiling in the afternoon so "glitches" are to be expected. They hosed SFC & DISM until build 41 and that hobbled any attempt to fix it so they are getting their act together (albeit slowly)

That doesn't surprise me.
My speculation would be that you were one of those "corporate cubicle residents" that could get an impressive amount of work done in quite a bit less than 8 hours.

A favor ... based on my OP's and follow-ups I've done, which would you recommend if I wanted to pick just one of those support forums to be most active?

I may take you up on that.
It doesn't seem to be possible to "Attach" a file on this forum, and I'm hesitant to cut/paste the contents of a human readable EventViewerLog.txt file.
Perhaps I could send you such an event log to the email address on your web-site? If so, is there a better format than EventViewerLog.txt that could be analyzed better?
How about 42,000+ lines from sfc /scannow ... CBS.log ? That was gibberish to me, and a "needle in a haystack". Is there a less verbose parameter to filter out the less useful "Info" lines?
In addition to the very repeatable Spartan show-stopper of "letter typed in the URL input field", there were several other random crashes from different Spartan activities.
Whine?
Am I the only one who is appalled that "Big Flaming Deal" Spartan.exe ver 0.x is crashing silently, even if it is from my operator error? I realize it is pre-Alpha.

I think MS has a reputation for getting Builds put together better than many other organizations. Or should that be past tense?
But based on my little slice of focus (Spartan.exe), I'm underwhelmed and concerned about the semi-announced July RTM.
To me, Microsoft has one more chance with Win-10 to be a viable competitor to Android and iOS in the low-power world.
I am VERY impressed by the potential of free Win 10 SP1 on an Atom x86 CPU.
And lots of wishful thinking enthusiasm at the prospect of a very small form-factor Surface-4 fan-less touch-enabled tablet with Core-M with a 500GB or larger M.2 PCIE flash memory.
And throw in a 1" sensor Sony Exmor sensor with 4k video? Perhaps as a tightly coupled removable attachment, or USB connection?
And enough CPU to do Photoshop with the power of a "desktop replacement laptop"?
And a very good Nokia phone?
And docking station with plenty of USB 3+ ports, card-reader, bigger battery to supplement the key-less tablet, HDMI, good to very good keyboard, RJ45, etc.
Not asking for much? But I think Core-M and another tick-tock or two could be a game-changer when prices come down.
You could fulfill the vision of being able to carry around a product content producer from home to road-trips to the office.

My wife and I are "Team Allan" for some volunteer things we do together ... she's not a techie ... and sometimes I wonder if I still am.
Is that similar to "Team Zigzag"?
If you don't mind me asking, where are you located? I did take a quick look at your web-site ... it appears there are two or more of you who are "dump experts". :-)
Here in "high" Colorado, ZigZag has a different interpretation :-)

Answers has more volume and less sophisticated questions and answers.
My speculation would be that you were one of those "corporate cubicle residents" that could get an impressive amount of work done in quite a bit less than 8 hours.
Started out that way for sure but rose to manage the Systems & Technology Dept. before my early retirement

You cannot "attach" but can upload it to a file sharing service (onedrive, etc) and put a link to it here. While I donot normally have things emailed you can email it if you are concerned about security. If you do please use the instructions below for format as text files are not searchable. Feel free to include the CBS log as well.
Re Android/iOS MS has a rom out that will convert an Android phone to windows phone. Guess you know why.
Win10 takes u a ton less space and resources even when it has not been optimized so I am also hopeful
Team ZigZag is indeed a partnership. (zigzag3143 & JMH3143) both here and on answers. My partner JMH is a wizard with email and has most answers (on Answers.microsoft.com) something like 57 consecutive weeks. She is also an MVP.

Web Application Proxy in Windows 2012 DC R2
Hi,
We have two Exchange 2010 SP3 CAS servers ( CAS Array ) on Windows 2008 R2 with NLB inside the corporate network, all the webmail access is being used for this from in side and out side. Due to security reasons Management asked to deploy the Web Application Proxy in DMZ so that the webmail should be accessed through these WAP servers.
The current webmail site ( https:\\webmail.company.com\owa ) has SSL certificate.
I'm planning to use 2 WAP servers in DMZ and 2 ADFS servers inside the Corporate Network.
I have Read few links relates to this stuff but not much clear for me.
Can somebody advise me how to proceed with high availability for WAP & ADFS and where to use existing SSL certificate.
Appreciated if the steps can be mentioned.
Thanks in Advanced.
Regards,Ali

Hi,
I'm setting up 2 WAP servers in DMZ and 1 ADFS server in corporate network.
I have an existing ssl certificate for : "https:\\webmail.company.com\owa " which was previously configured on MS Exchange 2010 SP3 Client Access Servers ( CAS Array ).
Do I need to export this existing SSL certificate ( https:\\webmail.company.com\owa ) and import into ADFS and WAP servers during the configuration. ?
I'm little bit confused about this certificate parts.
And is there any changes required at back end ( CAS servers ) servers.?

Taskbar not responsive enough
I am trying out the latest build 10071 at work and the taskbar does not always respond to clicks quick enough. Often ill click on the RDP taskbar icon or the outlook icon and nothing happens. I have to click on it again and again before it comes up. This can be frustrating when moving between windows quickly. I have never been a fan of the taskbar previews, with the latest build the RDP icon is very slow at displaying the taskbar previews.
If i am in one window and then click on outlook taskbar icon it does not switch windows first time.
Please can you add the option so that i can disable taskbar previews but still keep the "hide labels" option of the taskbar properties. Ideally what i would like is for the taskbar previews to replaced with a tooltip of the window title. I would also like a taskbar properties option that hides the labels but does not group the taskbar icons.
This way if i had 5 word documents open, i can switch between them with a single left click and i can see which document is which by hovering over the taskbar icons and reading the tooltip. At the moment it takes two clicks to switch word documents and its next to impossible to work out which document is which from the taskbar previews. Plus the taskbar previews is so slow and no matter how fast you make it, it will always be slower than no taskbar previews. Because it requires an extra click or the wait time while hovering to display the taskbar previews. The taskbar should not slow me down.
I know it is possible to implement this as a software 7 taskbar tweaker has implemented the option without much problems.
I even think this would be better for touch as well because you could touch on to each "app" and with each "app" sub process and switch between them with ease on the taskbar. You would not be forced in to holding to try and bring up the previews.
Lets face it with one instance apps the taskbar preview is largely redundant. It does not serve a purpose. The differences between the taskbar items can be distinguished by their taskbar icon. There is no need for taskbar previews when it comes to switching between taskbar items with one instance. Taskbar previews are meant to be useful when it comes to applications that have multiple instances like word and microsoft remote desktop. These applications do not work well with taskbar previews from my own experiences. I find my workflow increases substantially when the taskbar previews are removed and the grouping is disabled.

Other problems that i always experience that to be honest infuriates me.
The jump lists on the taskbar items, arguably a completely pointless feature (as the same menu comes up with right clicking and they moved the more useful context menu to shift right click, idiots). More oftten than not the jump lists come up when i don't want them to. Forcing me to click off the taskbar item and click on it again. The jump list for those who do not know can be activated by clicking on a taskbar item and holding the click and moving the mouse upwards. To be honest if i could meet the guy at MS that implemented taskbar jump lists i think i would beat him up, as i couldn't avoid venting my years of frustration with this pointless feature on his face. So the guy who invented jump lists on the task bar items, i wish you a painful death. :)
Secondly the taskbar previews, this time... flashing up randomly after switching to another taskbar item. Recreated by clicking on a taskbar item, only for the click to not work, then being forced to click again, the window changes to the taskbar item and split second later, the taskbar preview thinks now is the time to appear and flashes up. Similarly if i ever met the guy who invented taskbar previews he would have a visit the hospital lined up. :)
I think if i could bill MS for the amount of time they have wasted of mine with their stupid jump lists and taskbar previews i would have at least $10000 at my low IT sysadmin rate.

I don't so much hate the jump lists on the right click menu. what i dislike is how the jump list comes up when left clicking and moving up with the mouse. As that is usually how it comes up inadvertently as left clicking on a taskbar item and moving the mouse upwards is the way most people switch windows.

I have no logical explanation as to why they would duplicate the new right click context menu to another click setting, click and hold and drag upwards. For me that happens when i don't want it to quite often, so often that i have just got used to it and ignored it.
Like i said a preview on a taskbar item with one instance is pointless and only works to slow down the taskbar. The taskbar items can be distinguished from the taskbar icon quite easily. Even then the taskbar previews are largely indistinguishable as they are. Often requiring the user to look twice at the picture or squint. If it was not for the taskbar item label above the taskbar preview then it could be difficult to distinguish items where the taskbar items are grouped on a single taskbar item. Instead of tooltips as i suggested a newer looking taskbar item label, like the current one but where the entire filename could be viewed would be ideal. At times working with word documents with long titles the only thing that distinguishes the files is a v1 or v2 at the end of the filename. This is often cut off and trying to distinguish between two documents can be difficult just by looking at the taskbar alone. It is required to either click on each document and compare or to hover over the taskbar preview and use the quick peak to find out which item is which. I find my workflow is increased substantially when i can click on each taskbar item as if they were single instance items and not a part of a group and if the full filename is visible from a hover either through a tooltip or some other kind of label.

Lockscreen Spotlight (suggestion)
This would be great if it could be used for Corporates to PUSH intranet style News Feeds/Announcements.
Is this a feature that could be used for this?

A(nother) Method for Running Beta OSs
It has been repeatedly stated to run a Beta OS, such as Windows 10 currently in the following ways:
VM
VHD
Spare Box
Dual-boot
Running Windows 8.1
Unplug, disconnect the drive holding Windows 8.1
Easy, safe and creates a very 'normal' set-up. Much better than a VM & even better than dual-boot. You can 'see' all drives from both OSs this way and all USBs or peripheral gear from both.
Cheers,
Drew
