Installing virtual adapters
Since im lacy i have all my programs as ISO, but trying to install a virtual drive took a whole day (CloneDrive, partial works, but no drive will appear, but the autoluanch will trigger when double clicking the iso files).
My next problem is even worse. I'm using Sonic Wall NetExtender to create the VPN connection to work.
When trying to install the "SSL-VPN Netextender Adapter" the installation fails, since this is trying to make a virtual network adapter.
It looks like Windows 7 is refusing to install any drivers for hardware that not exists in your "PC"
is there any work around for installing virtual hardware?

You could try typing "cmd" in the Search Box included in the Start menu. Next, press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to open a command prompt window with elevated privileges. Now enter bcdedit /set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS in order to disable Driver Signing and reboot.
Good luck

Exchange vs. Zimbra bachelor's thesis
I'm a third year computer engineer student which is currently working on my bachelor's thesis. My thesis is a completly comparison of Microsoft Exchange 2003 and Zimbra Network Edition. I know this topic is beginning to get widly used and evaluated, but this is very relevant for our enlisting company that is considering migrating to Zimbra from Exchange 2003. We will also go very in depth in this over 3 months.
My projectgroup is currently working on miscellaneous research and for that I could use some help from experienced administrators here at this magnificent forum:
1) We need to simulate a great amount of active users on both Zimbra and Exchange. Is it any scripts for this? A independent stresstest that can run on both mailsolutions is needed.
2) Any topics on this subject that currently haven't been enlighted seriously from a independent view? Maybe something that you system administrators would be interested in knowing but haven't had the time to find it out?
I want to emphasize that this project will be totally independent and no part is taken. I hope your feedback will be the same even if you are exchange disciples
Thanks in advance. All feedback is appreciated.

When you look at the outer right corner of the task bar, there is a iconless button. If you click on it, the desktop will be shown, any started application will be minimized.

Win+Space peaks at the desktop.
Win+D shows the desktop and Win+D again restores the screen back to before you viewed the desktop.
Depending on where the mouse is, it may be quicker to use those.

MVP for Learning..open discussion
Should there be an MVP for Learning. From the MVP FAQ, MVPs "are exceptional technical community leaders from around the world who have been awarded for voluntarily providing technical expertise towards technical communities supporting Microsoft products or technologies. An MVP is awarded for contributions over the past year."
I would say that Microsoft Learning is a product and a lot of people on different forums such as this one, provide a lot of information ot the general public by promoting, clarifying and advising people on how best to procede with their certification paths.
Its a discussion I have been having with some people in whether one is warranted?
Just wondering what is the opinion of others and possibly if we are lucky, some of the folks from Redmond.

I have suggested this numerous times. I feel many of us put in a lot of time and dedication in helping other in their pursuit to achieve Microsoft certifications. Most of us help through newsgroups, blogs, written articles, emails, private and public speaking and tutoring. I cannot count the number of hours in 9 years that I have performed these tasks.
Although I am not looking for awards and such, I do feel that it would be a nice honor for those who have sacrificed more than I to help others.

Well spotted. I agree - that is a little glitch that should be sorted before launch.
May I suggest you send this to MS using the 'Send Feedback' link as well?

Issue with ATI Radeon HD 2400 video card and installation of Windows 7
I would send in a report from the windows 7 desktop but I can't access it, sort of.
I was having issues with the installation of Windows 7 and kept getting memory dumps each time. Looking at the dump file it would be the following
BugCheck 116, {fffffa8005218010, fffff880034207e8, 0, 2}
Probably caused by : atikmdag.sys ( atikmdag!Dispatch_CollectDbgInfo+0 )
So the file is a driver for ATI videocards.
I have an onboard video card also so I removed my ATI and installed it using that. Works perfect. No issues.
I then downloaded from ATI their beta drivers for Windows 7 (Catalyst) for both x86 and x64. I get another error but that is with the Catalyst itself. I get error "Error Detecting" or something like that, but that is for ATI to look at.
Now, I thought ok, it's my ATI Video card. But my wife has the same PC as me, so I took out her video card (damn she was not happy about that) and I installed it in my system. Rebooted PC to Windows 7. Same error message.
I am installing Windows 7 on the following PC
Acer Aspire M5100 Dual Core (AMD Athlon 64 Dual Core 6000+ 3.0Mhz
ATI Radeon HD 2400 w/256 megs
4 Gigs of Ram
500 Gig harddrive SATA.
Has anyone alese who has an ATI 2400 card been able to install this?

But also I cannot access the net because for some reason, my Marvell Yukon NIC is giving me limited or no connectivity. (That is another issue I need to fix)
So it's the default ones used when it finds an ATI card.

You could try uninstalling the drivers then let Windows go out and fine the appropriate one.

Sharing TV recordings between media centers
The problem I am having is that after a while the any changes on one machine (e.g. a new recording) is not shown on the other machine. Sometimes the content on the shared folder is not visible at all. In both circumstances the only remedy is either a reboot, or restarting the "Windows Media Center Receiver Service" and "Windows Media Center Scheduler Service" services.
Before installing Windows 7, I had 2 Vista Ultimate media centers - and I had the same problem. I don't think this is a network problem, as restarting the services corrects the problem.
I can also replicate the problem if I delete a recording. The deleted recording will disappear on both media - but after that any new recordings will only show up on the media center that "owns" the recorded tv folder (i.e. not on the one that uses the share).
Does anyone else have the same problem?

When both my media centers were on Vista, I had them joined to the same domain so I assume it's not a permission issue. I can't join Windows 7 to the domain, so I use the credentials manager instead.

Disabling CD/DVD burning makes CD/DVDs unreadable in "Computer"
Explorer] with adding dword NoCDBurning "1", it prevents also ANY listing of files/folders in your DVD recorder drive, insterted media still gets detected you just cant see anything on it, as soon as you enable it again it goes back to normal. You can still read them in normal DVD drive. I guess its a bug, since i dont see how this could be intended...
