You cannot pass variables back to a script from a batch file. You can write variables to a file and retrieve with VBS. You can also output text to StdOut.
To avoid unexpected output preface echo commands with @

As others have said, it's not exactly clear what you want. However, I'm guessing you want the returned value to be either the string 'Return' or the string 'Value', but you are actually getting 'Return Value'. That is the result of the double quote marks you used around the command variable 'parm' in the FOR statement. If you remove them, then setting the index in the Item() property to zero will return Return and setting it to 1 will return Value.
BTW, your VBS script is very redundant and full of unused statements. it could be as simple as ...
wscript.echo WScript.Arguments.Item(0)
But I suspect it is just a stripped down example of some larger task.

Well try booting it and closing the screen then opening the screen to see if it then displays anything. And if it does then quits close and open the screen again.
For some reason on cold days my Acer Aspire (5 yoa or so) does that and when I boot it with the screen open all the sudden the screen goes out. So I close, lower the screen to the keyboard, and raise the screen and it displays again. Sometimes I have to do this constantly through the boot process to Logon.
If this is not what you mean then contact your laptop manufacturer for assistance and even then probably buy a new laptop.

Server 2012 RDS Users being logged into Broker instead of pooled Desktop
I have an issue where sometimes users will click on a desktop in RDWeb or through Work Resources and it logs them in to the actual RD Broker instead one of the VDI desktops. Restarting the Broker service usually corrects this but I would like to stop it from happening in the first place.
Any ideas?

This behavior is by-design, as Home Basic does not have themes support.
Since this behavior is "by design", there is no resolution. However, if the user's intent is to change the desktop background, this can still be accomplished by clicking the Windows start icon in the bottom left of the screen, and then typing "Change desktop background" in the search box.

Forgive my poking a bit of fun at you. You just seem to be asking for someone to rewrite a set of scripts to your specification. Perhaps you could take some time to learn to write a script then attempt to rewrite all of the scripts you have acquired and ask a specific question when you get stuck.
This form is not for free script redesign and rewriting. You should know that by now.
Start again and post your attempt at writing the script you want.

I am currently thinking about secure access to our highly critical systems (e.g. Domain Controllers, ERP Servers etc.)
In the past microsoft recommended using secure admin workstations.
So I tried to read some more about it and the ideas behind.
Unfortuantely the deteailed article https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt186538.aspx is marked as "not reflecting Microsoft current position" and within another article https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc700835.aspx containing some related information with admin workstations there is still link to server 2003!! documentation :D:D
Does anyone know how the current best practice is and where it is documented?
Of course especially for such a high cirtical topic it always makes sense to have some Microsoft PFE or security expert on site,
but I do not want to get into discussion for best solution without any knowledge than basic administrator ones.

Hello,
I can not believe Microsoft does not have any other mean of making software updates on a Windows Server without having to restart the server, this is a very annoying and inconvenient operation.
Servers should have 24 x7 availability.
I wonder if one day we could make windows server software updates withot having to restart it.

Windows 10 Home limitations
I am using a Surface 3 for more than one year and I am very happy of it.
I can make all the things I used to do with my others PCs (a desktop and a laptop): them all run Windows 10.
In those last months I bought a NAS (Network Attached Storage) and a Wireless Home Sound System. Both appliances work on a local Wi-Fi network.
My Surface, with Windows 10 Home, has problems with both appliances!
As far the NAS is concerned I cannot Map Network Drive hosted on the NAS , feature that I make it easy this both my PCs with Windows 10 Pro.
As far Wireless the Home Sound System is concerned I cannot add to my SONOS Music Library any folder which is on my Surface, feature that I make it easy this both my PCs with Windows 10 Pro.
I contacted both Makers of the appliances (QNAP and SONOS) in order to check if it it's their problem. Both stress a Windows fault.
I made some trials concerning the MND (Map Network Drive) basic feature on my home network: I have no problems to MND folders between the PCs, both Surface to desktop or vice versa.
But if I try to Map as Network Drive a USB pen, which is on my local router, I fail with the Surface when I succeed with the desktop or laptop.
I contacted my national Microsoft help desk: after more than a month, I got no clear answer. No clear statement that it's a Windows Home limit.

A update on the configuration of a MA or MV failed to replicate to a target connector directory that is capable of storing MA/MV configurations.
After updating a MA schema (in this particular case I had added a column to an Oracle MA), I got this error in the event log:
Event 6331, FIMSynchronizationService
A update on the configuration of a MA or MV failed to replicate to a target connector directory that is capable of storing MA/MV configurations. As a result, the MA/MV configuration data in this connector directory is not up to date. Please correct the condition that causes the error, and triggers a resync by updating the password information of the target MA.
This error has been reported on other occasions, and I'm afraid that there is no better solution than re-installing, which would be annoying on a production system.
Has someone found out a way to deal with this without reinstalling?

Thanks for your help, I had checked the FIM account, and it was ok.
Other things I had tried (and didn't help):
- delete and re-create the FIM MA and the MA that had started the problem
- re-configured the services (with the installation packages)
Sadly, I didn't think about assigning a new account, and I just re-installed. Hoping this happens never again, if it does I'll try the new account approach.
In the meanwhile, if someone wants to contribute with possible solutions...

I just got the error again, and tried changing the fim MA account, but did not manage to do it.
To change the fim MA account, I did this:
1) create a new account (called fimma2)
2) run the 'install service and portal' installer, select change
3) specify same parameters as before, except the new fim MA account
4) reopened the management console, specified fimma2 as user name
When I click ok, I get an error saying that connection to the DB could not be estabilished.
I opened SQL Server Management Studio and noticed that the new login had been added to the DB, but it had not been granted any roles, so I added manually FIM_SynchronizationService (as for the previous account).
Nothing changed, I still get the same error if I try to change the DB connection parameters in the FIM MA, and the Event 6331 problem persists...
Update:
After managing to assign a new user, nothing changed anyway.

If I look in the update history I can only see only one entry: "Forefront Identity Manager 2010 Service and Portal Update (KB978864)"
Should I apply the update for sync service separately?

Hi Craig,
you were right: the problem was caused by the synchronization engine not being patched to update 1.
I don't know why the automatic update (which is discouraged, by the way) didn't update the synchronization service, but after I downloaded the update from the update catalog and applied it manually, the problem is gone.

FYI - for anyone reading this old thread but seeing this error on FIM 2010 R2.
I noticed my newly selected AD attributes (in the sync engine) weren't showing up in my Outbound Sync Rules as options - then noticed I'd been getting this error for quite some time. This was on build 4.1.2273 - FIM 2010 R2. The sync server MA was remembering my newly selected attributes, so they were being stored - they just weren't making it to the FIM Service/Portal. Whenever I made any changes to the MA, this error would occur.
Simple reboot on just the sync server fixed it for me. Didn't need to install the latest hotfix rollup (4.1.2548.0)

4 Physical servers and 2 virtual servers.

Hyper-V - TPM - VM does not start anymore after update KB3206632
After hours of searching update KB320663 causes my windows 10 1607 Hyper-V to not start anymore. The issue is the VM's were using TPM. The error I was getting was "The virtual machine 'xxxyyy' can't start because the host's Isolated User Mode is off.".
The only thing I want to point out is my machine is a windows pro version that was upgraded to windows enterprise via product key. I noted that after upgrading I do not see the windows feature as many posts show to enabled a feature for "Isolated User Mode". Not sure if this would have corrected the issue or not.

is KB320663 a typo? i can't find anything about it
check out the requirements in this article, apparently in build 1607 you no longer need to enable the feature so it's not presented as an option
did you do a full rebuild or just changed the product key? if you did a rebuild, make sure you didn't do it under legacy mode, it has to be native uefi mode as the article states
